Media Psychos Psycho Challenge! NEW: CHALLENGE 38 IS NOW LIVE!

Recommended Posts

Time to enter the fray with my Week 11 challenge choices & I've done my best to pick films I both love & might be a bit out of the ordinary from many of the impending selections (not a Star Wars, Batman or Alien movie in sight ;) lol) single

So without further Ado here are my picks -

1) The Devils Rejects (Sequel to House of 1000 Corpses)

IMG20221122131604.thumb.jpg.79f27a609e94dd8eb776989ad89e4e06.jpg

So this is the Continuing saga of the Firefly Family who we meet originally in House of 1000 Corpses & in this film the tables are turned from them just being a murderous family to a murderous family on the run from the law

After being found out & seiged at their home the 3 remaining Firefly family members go on a murderous rampage while trying to evade capture.

Things don't to plan & are captured by the Law at which point the movie changes tone & you actually begin to feel empathy for them while in lockdown

The whole film is a thrill ride for me & takes what made House great & ups the ante & bloodshed.

It also gave me one of my favourite endings to any film ever & the use of music is fantastic throughout

This is firmly routed as one of my favourite films of all time & probably my favourite horror period

2) Day of the Dead (Sequel to Dawn of the Dead)

IMG20221122132148.thumb.jpg.9ea9234a39bfa2fc347e1f4e775ce110.jpg

Now While Dawn of the Dead gets the majority of the love it's Day of the Dead that just pips it as greatest Zombie movie ever
Dawn gave us great set pieces & a sprawling narative on consumerism & great characters

Day takes all that & gives us something even more special...claustrophobic & tense with probably the finest ending & gore set piece that I can remember as the Zombies make their way down inside the complex

Just another fantastic sequel & one I can watch over & over

3) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (Sequel to Michael Bay's Turtle movie)

IMG20221122131643.thumb.jpg.ea138d618538a5043c0f8a20914a0ba1.jpg

I've been a massive Turtle fan since the 80's but was really concerned when Michael Bay was helming the new movies after his Transformers mess but was more than pleasantly surprised by the first movie & eagerly awaited this sequel

What it does is takes the formula of the original & ups the fun by 10

Cast is great the set pieces are even more ludicrous & fantastic than the first & the arrival of Rock Steady & Be-bop are great

It just works & improves on the original in so many ways

4) Godzilla Vs Kong (Sequel to Godzilla: King of Monsters & Kong: Skull Island)

IMG20221122131623.thumb.jpg.db28d3e699b55c98fa8ef9335fa41ec4.jpg

Set after the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters this takes 2 of the most well known monsters in movie history & pits them against each other in the ultimate brawl

Takes elements of all the movies that came before & ups the destruction to near biblical levels lol

The creatures look fantastic & even the human element works really well to flesh out the story.

The final fight set piece is on a different level to everything that went before & just makes this the one to see out of the whole Monsterverse

5) Cannonball Run 2

IMG20221122133651.thumb.jpg.0902b2c48658bc39942ccd46a76cc1f7.jpg

What can honestly be said about this movie...so much fun & hi-jinks

Takes all the fun of the first & ups the ante, funnier than the first & just the best high speed chase movie IMO

So that's my 5 favourite sequels, hope they pass muster ;)

Now onto the Question & the one film I'd love to see get a sequel is the recent Power Rangers movie

IMG20221122133704.thumb.jpg.8875c146575c91f4fbab0bef8f4a1223.jpg

Unloved, Underappreciated & thoroughly neglected

I was never really a big Power Rangers fan when I was younger so this is perhaps why I thoroughly enjoyed this.

It's great fun from start to finish with amazing set pieces & an ending that even managed to choke me up & it desperately deserved a sequel...the reason for not getting one is also the most pathetic excuse ever - Toy sales were too low & subsequently the studio & Hasbro decided not to press ahead with a 2nd movie...SUCKS!!!

Anyway that's my selections

Hope they are all ok

Neil

thank you for this weeks challenge @ethnosax and @extantsrevenge

Here is my post for Challenge 11: It is Happening Again

I went with all horror esque titles.

1) Don't Breathe 2 : I thought it was as good as the first. Maybe more action focused but I liked the story more, it felt more thought out with the relationship with the old man and the girl.

2) Halloween 2 : While best watched back to back with Halloween 1, even tho it's not as good as the first. Some of the kills, and scenes in the hospital are all dynamite. Jamie Lee Curtis is just amazing in it.

p3345_i_h9_aa.jpg

3) IT Chapter Two : It floats. Not as good as Chapter one, but it is funnier.

4) A Quiet Place Part II : I enjoy both movies, but I feel like Part II is more suspenseful.

5) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 : they went for a more comedic and bizarre story for this one (Motel Hell)

504251348_IMG-813310362.thumb.jpg.714fcb9ed00855813bacf177e47d5653.jpg

As far as a movie that I wish had a sequel, that would be Edge of Tomorrow (Live Die Repeat). Phenomenal movie, that deserves a sequel (but you could make that case with any Emily Blunt film 🤣)

I chose to only use econos…. TGM is prob best movie of the year, and is a perfect sequel to TG. continuing my love affair for Cruise, Jack Reacher 2 is my other choice - not as good as Jack Reacher but still good flick.
sicario 2 is no where near the masterpiece Sicario is but it’s still a good flick with some awesome action.
Sin City 2 is also not as good as the original but this Lenti magnet is banging and I got it from @masterblaster from his sale thankfully.
lastly, one of the most underrated trilogies in movie history…. Angel Has Fallen is the 3rd film and ironically 3rd best of the trilogy, but watching Butler murder ppl is just a perfect film.

@ethnosax @extantsrevenge  Challenge 11

I know every movie is supposed to be a different franchise, but I'm going to do it differently today, if that's not ok... I'll redo it.

I'm not going to write something about every sequel, because for me it's the case that when a sequel comes into my collection ... I find the sequel (or the 2nd part) just as good or sometimes even better.

This time I will show the challenge in categories ...

Animated Movies 😍

image.thumb.jpeg.466456deab7dfaa92bf2495a7515699f.jpeg

Superhero Movie Sequels 😍

image.thumb.jpeg.8481e9e53bfc89fd94fdc9d7c5bc0f9e.jpeg

Damn, now I have the wrong Spider-Man Edition on the picture, should be "Far From Home"...

Ok, let's continue with Fantasy & Science Fiction

image.thumb.jpeg.bed30dc0562cc7df16aa682c3dc8dcc3.jpeg

I'm also a big Fan of Comedy, whether it's Comedy with a mix of Horror, Music, Action, Animation

image.thumb.jpeg.afa1a9981013916968dbb52f8c644f12.jpeg

... and as the fifth Contribution, the Classic, Action Movies

challenge 11

1. the raid 2: what can I say? Everything is turned up to 10× in this one.

2. psycho 2: easily one of, if not the best horror sequel. Not as iconic or groundbreaking but this movie is better than the original. Sorry not sorry.🙂

3. Blade runner 2049: this is more up my alley. I love the original but this one has more scifi vibes.

4. T2: not terminator but trainspotting.

Love this film and its original. This just gives you more of the characters you love from the first.

5. Childs play 2: this one cemented chucky as a iconic slasher.

I would love to see the sequel to alien covenant and see zack snyder's justice leauge finish with the darkseid saga.

image.thumb.jpeg.b12e9e0274857d79b990d84a82d4122b.jpeg

image.thumb.jpeg.474fbd5efe6236b45ae6bcf1dc628678.jpeg

3/ Wonder Woman 1984 : L'histoire se déroule 70 ans après. Diana est à la recherche d'un artefact qui s'appelle "la pierre des rêves".

image.thumb.jpeg.98d65228fcff2c22ec64c70fda518696.jpeg

4/ Jurassic Park World Fallen Kingdom : J'ai toujours été un grand fan de Jurassic Park. Dans ce volet, il est question de sauver les dinosaures d'Isla Nublar avant l'explosion du volcan.

image.thumb.jpeg.aaaa3c8160bb146ed361af06489631c2.jpeg

image.thumb.jpeg.8cb5664393c49b7aecad84ac7a649fec.jpeg

Pour le film auquel j'aimerai voir une suite, j'opterai pour "Ready Player One", j'ai vraiment aimé ce film et son univers et je me demande si il n'y aurai pas d'autres histoires à exploiter avec cette licence.

Très bonne journée à tous.

Star Trek Into Darkness, with Starship. Thanks for looking, this one was fun!

I went back and found my week 4 challenge @extantsrevenge. It was later in the week because I was in Mexico, but I posted it just before GaryK posted challenge 5. With the time difference between my location and yours, it could have been too late, and you are the ultimate judge, so I will accept your decision if it was late. For your convenience, it is on page 21 of this thread. Thanks for reviewing it!

Week 11!

Comin' down with that sequelitis!

IMG_20221123_164111.thumb.jpg.b4e606a46a000257c5de43914716334d.jpg

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" - More mature than the previous movies, which were worryingly lacking in Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

IMG_20221123_163218.thumb.jpg.9c1bf15ec5d4e160f5744aef3de1e33c.jpg

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" - More nuanced pacing than "LOTR". I mean, it dragged, but it had its moments with characterization for that.

IMG_20221123_163455.thumb.jpg.c18041891f838e027f25783b60944eb6.jpg

"Skyfall" - So much more refined and well-written than pretty much any "James Bond" movie. I'm sorry, fanboys, but grow up!

IMG_20221123_163621.thumb.jpg.c3181695528db91f4c9fba5c08263534.jpg

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" - Much more dramatically defined than its predecessors.

IMG_20221123_163539.thumb.jpg.8cc99a433302a19ce87560c33afca027.jpg

"War for the Planet of the Apes" - A fantastic war movie that just happens to be about talking primates, instead of the simply well-made genre movies that preceded.

As for movies that need a sequel… I'm sure there's one that's more qualified, but let's have Richard Linklater dump another few years into "Manhood". Ellar Coltrane needs the work, and Ethan Hawke needs to hit rock bottom with his workaholism.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans!

Here is my contribution for week 11 :

1 - Back to the Future 2 (from Filmarena OC)

I love everything about this trilogy and it is difficult for me to say which one is the best. 1 of the things I really enjoy in this movie is the De Lorean which fly.

2 - Batman The Dark Knight (from HDZeta OC)

Not my favourite Batman (I prefer the ones with Michael Keaton). What is better in this movie than in Begins is Joker and how crazy Heath Ledger. He was perfect as Joker.

3 - Batman Vs Superman (from HDZeta OC)

The 2nd part of the Zack Snyder trilogy (MOS, BVS and ZSJL). What is better in this movie? There is Wonder Woman (OMG she is so sexy) and Doomsday.

4 - Rambo First Blood Part 2 (simple steelbook from Amazon 😅)

My favorite Rambo. What makes it better than the first movie? The bow 🤪

5 - John Wick (from Novamedia OC)

What makes this movie better is the fact that it takes part also in Roma (the most beautiful city in the world for me).

The movie which definitively deserve a sequel (and there probably won't be) : I would say Alita or Warcraft or ZSJL2. But I think my first choice is Alita Battle Angel because I was a big fan of Gunn when I was a teenager and because sequel would have been amazing movies.

CHALLENGE 11: IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN

Thank you for the challenge @ethnosax

Let’s see… I’ll start with Into Darkness and my reasoning is quite simply the addition of Benedict Cumberbatch to an already brilliant cast.

461DE6F7-1590-4595-A5CA-1CBB6E763D5C.thumb.jpeg.9b1b42b376ec19d9b6d3586e016c8d77.jpeg

Next I’ll go with Ghostbusters II, purely on the basis of this little beauty 😁

D8DDEA2D-D2D6-4443-9750-0EB3D44C419E.thumb.jpeg.2bfec5a057219f3bdc8a2a3f19caa58d.jpeg

I could have gone with a whole bunch of Marvel sequels. Hell, I could probably do this challenge 2 or 3 times over, but I’ll stick to just one. This one. And my reason? One word…. Carnage.

24B69F8B-0097-49C0-AB76-ABDE58F72CB0.thumb.jpeg.e2de1611ff63859d5acac0a9f53c25df.jpeg

For my penultimate choice I am going with Creed 2. Love these movies and can’t wait for the 3rd. I am calling the second better than the first for the closing of the book on Rocky and we say farewell to Stallone in the franchise.

DFD1FFDB-8141-4DC7-9931-B25C5EC6BB71.thumb.jpeg.79e5eefd910b55952201141f55a8792c.jpeg

My last choice is Transformers The Last Knight. A sequel within sequels (sequel to part 4 Age of Extinction). Whilst not for everyone, this is a franchise I very much enjoy simply from my childhood love for Transformers. My reason as to why this is the best is I thoroughly enjoyed watching this one in 3D. A 3D adventure of Bay at his best with scenes like this one.

Finally, I’ve always thought The Fast and the Furious should have a decent sequel….. 🤣 Actually, all jokes aside I kind of wish they’d left it alone completely. The original movie was perfect. Shame they’ve ruined it and with one more still to come, I can only imagine that Toretto and his crew of street racers will figure out space travel and save the World from annihilation in a Pimp my Ride Dodge Charger Moon Buggy. 🙄😂😂

But for a serious choice, I’m going with either Grabbers, Alita, Chappie or District 9.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. This is a solid post.  I actually like those movies for the absurdity of some of them.

Or they go back in time.   Penny farthing pink slips?

CHALLENGE 11: IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN

A recent study from MediaPsy Co. projects that by 2025, 98.4% of all new film releases will be sequels to existing films. In anticipation of that coming reality, I present this week's challenge. This week, we are asking you to share five (5) movies in your collection that are sequels. Further clarifications:

  1. Each film must represent a different franchise/series.
  2. Any film that was released after an existing movie counts as a sequel (i.e., prequels are allowed).
  3. No reboots or remakes. Only sequels.
  4. If a film you present does not have a numeral in its title, or if you endeavor to be especially clever or devious in your selection, be prepared to justify its status as a sequel, if questioned.

We also request the following additional information:

  1. For each film you present, point out something about it that is superior to the earlier film(s) in the series. (Note: This doesn't mean you have to believe the sequel is better than an earlier film; we just want to know something you really like about the sequel.)
  2. Also answer this question: What is a forgotten, neglected, or underappreciated film that you love and believe deserves a sequel? (For full credit, you need only name the original film. However, we also welcome more robust pitches for plot development, characters, and so forth, should your creativity enable such elaboration.)

20221124_212615.thumb.jpg.04f3289fa1c3a846222b44d21c20c310.jpg

In no particular order!

THE DARK KNIGHT

Why so superior? The Joker, that's why.

SPIDER-MAN 2

This is the Superior Spider-Man movie, with the struggle of Spidey vs Peter, Doc Ock, and the train sequence.

BLADE RUNNER 2049

Ana de Armas, and that's all I need to say.

LOGAN

A bitter goodbye to Professor X, wonderful introduction to X-23, and the perfect swan song to the legendary Wolverine, after 9 movies of being the best there is at what he does, but what he does isn’t very nice…

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

One of the best MCU movies, with a sick score and slick action, I wish some of the new movies had this level of quality.

A movie I would absolutely LOVE to get a sequel? Constantine! And lo and behold, a sequel is in the works!

Week 11 Challenge

1. Dawn Of The Dead - this time in COLOR with groundbreaking effects work from Tom Savini.   Oh yeah and the story is subversively brilliant as is the setting in a shopping mall.  A stone cold classic for a reason.

CE46BF0C-E562-45D9-B6A6-BB075AA058FD.thumb.jpeg.16f16ca5f58c6889e0ab63362a8251a7.jpeg

2.  Phantasm II - despite a recasting, this one is full on bonkers nightmare logic and I love every minute.
96546948-2762-4E0A-A22C-03B4749C4134.thumb.jpeg.b28b14f5811bf20ec7686988e9734db4.jpeg

3. Gremlins 2 - both nastier and funnier than the original.

4.  Scanner Cop - the sequel to cronenberg’s classic your never knew you wanted and might not have known existed.  Fully bonkers and chock full of telekinetic mayhem and a fully coked out of his mind Richard Lynch.   Itself spawning a fun sequel (packaged with this edition from Vinegar Syndrome)

5. X Men First Class - sometimes you have to go back to move forward.  A swinging sixties setting, a phenomenal sexy cast and a fantastic script result in my absolute favorite entry in the franchise. F2AAEFA3-2DDC-47E0-ABC2-F0F2F9999AC4.thumb.jpeg.ee4532bacdd215b9ab86816d4c1e95d7.jpeg

As for a film that needs a sequel but will never get one - I’m a sucker for Young Sherlock Holmes and would have loved a whole franchise set in this world with this charming cast and devious sensibilities. Glad it’s coming on a new blu ray steelbook next year at least.

Week 11 Challenge

1. Jurassic World - one of my favourite films in the series and especially like the addition of Chris Pratt training raptors. Added more humour and solid action than JP2 and JP3!

2. Despicable Me 2 - easily my favourite of the trilogy with every character developing well from the first film and addition of a new love interest ensures greater comedy than the first!

3. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Matt Reeves really build on the solid foundation of the first film by really letting Caesar (and Serkis performance) shine with jaw-dropping realistic apes and building up to the great climax of the third film!

4. How to Train Your Dragon 2 - first film was great at introducing main characters but this works really well by upping the action and tension whilst retaining some daft humour from the first film

5. Star Trek Into Darkness - addition of Benedict Cumberbatch really worked well to wind up Kirk and also enjoyed Spock struggling with his developing emotions.  Also the addition of fantastic 3D (opening scene ducking the arrows!) missing from the first film really helped!

Finally I think Dredd (2012) truly deserves a sequel as Karl Urban was perfect and unlike Stallone kept his helmet on! Anderson would be interesting in the sequel to see if reconsiders a role as a Judge.98BC467B-EA9A-41CB-B71A-5B04B7636B13.thumb.jpeg.9de7604e3d834b8c3e900431fc86fcc0.jpeg

Challenge #11

20221126-024520.jpg

Mission Impossible 3: For me, this sequel is the soul of the MI saga, the one that changed and resized where it was going; the one that marked the way forward, and made "Mission Impossible" begin to grow film by film. It's entertaining, fun, exciting. Even the trailer is good. And the bad guy, is the best bad guy in the entire saga. It's a really good movie, and entertaining, that takes the best of the previous ones and takes a step forward in that mix of action, adventure, humor, suspense, establishing what we later know as the "tics" of "Mission Impossible".

Hannibal: Although there were people upset that it's not "The Silence of the Lambs" again, Hannibal goes much deeper into the character, and, assuming it's the sequel to one of the best movies of the '90s, tries to be more Hannibal Lecter and less blockbuster of that time. Darker. More cold. More elegant. In fact, it's the one that truly connects with the magnificent -and so special- Bryan Fuller TV series. In this movie, having millions of viewers in the theatre waiting to see Hannibal..., seeing him free for the first time, not appearing on screen until the 22nd minute, seems to me an amazing detail. And Ridley Scott does a brilliant job.

Prometheus: I had so much fun watching it, I had fun again on TV, and I had fun watching my edition at home. A lot of people criticized it, but it's a sequel/prequel that has that knack of being able to entertain even if you already know what's going on. Many people criticized it due to "realistic" lacks, in my opinion with a spirit that should never be applied to this type of film, and that can destroy even better ones. What I like the most is that it takes on the Alien saga but is not limited to an action and suspense chase: here is a leitmotiv, the architects, our origin. And I'm still waiting for a third prequel to clarify it for us even more.

Logan: IMHO the best superhero movie I've seen in a long time. It improves on everything from its predecessors, both Wolverine and X-Men in general; both the development of the characters, as some action scenes, or moments of reflection. The only thing I didn't like was a scene at the end, typical of the most familiar Spielberg. It wasn't the time. But it's a great film, beyond being an X-Men movie. I don't have doubt.

Before Midnight: it's the third part of a trilogy that was not going to be a trilogy, but that arose naturally, spontaneously, because life offered it. In this case, I really liked this sequel because it's perhaps the most realistic and least idyllic of all; entertaining like the others, but more capable of playing in common keys with the lives of normal people. In theory, this year it was 9 years since the previous one, and it was time for a new film, but at the moment there is no news. I would like them to continue: the evolution of the two protagonists, their lives and their slow maturity, have ended up becoming an interesting company for several generations. For different moments in our lives.

And this is the movie I'd like to see a sequel of:

Contact:  it's a very entertaining film that, I don't know why, has been forgotten today, even in terms of editions (...), and whose ending deserved a boost. It's a story that, taken seriously from the point where it left off, could give much more of itself. In fact, the end was almost an open door to learn more about the story. And nothing like knowing other civilizations, or our own origin, to stimulate our interest, right?
Yes, I have a lot of fun watching it. It's a great movie for a Sunday afternoon.

I luckily took all my pics before leaving home for half the week for thanksgiving travel. So here’s my submissions now!

1. Thor Ragnarok

I feel like Taika Waititi improved on every level of the previous two Thor movies with this guy. The humor was spot on on, the story was great, and the new characters were all fantastic and full of a ton of personality. Unfortunately Taika went a little to overboard for Love and Thunder, so that faltered a bit, but Ragnarok remains one of the top of all the Marvel movies for me.

2. Bladerunner 2049

Both Bladerunner and the sequel are great movies, but I think I may actually prefer the sequel a little bit more. Feels more approachable from a general public standpoint. The cgi is amazing and really helped to enhance the rich world created in the original. Ryan Gosling also knocked it out of the park, creating a fantastic character with a ton of depth and development through the film.

3. Tron Legacy

I just loved everything about this movie. Killer soundtrack. Killer visuals. Killer world. And to top it all off Olivia Wild. There’s all that controversy with her now suggesting she may not actually be the greatest of people…but back in my innocent youth she was perfect to me. I feel everything was an improvement from the first one. Like it’s hard to watch the original due to those graphics… I would totally want to see another sequel added on here, but I have a much better one chosen.

4. Spiderman No Way Home

I love Spiderman so much, and this one just had everything I could have ever wanted. I’d say it’s between this or Into the Spiderverse for top Spiderman movies of all time for me, though they’re both so different so it’s hard to really compare. No Way Home would be nothing without all of the Spiderman movies before it, though, so even with all the heartache some of the poorer previous movies provided, I’m grateful for each and every one of them as they led to this masterpiece.

5. THE Suicide Squad

This movie was leaps and bounds better than the original. That first one was a snooze, man. Just the typical DC crap. But my god to James Gunn take it and run circles around not only the first Suicide Squad, but every other dang live action DC movie that’s come out ever. Just like Ragnarok the humor was great, action was great, ew characters great, the big bad was so over the top and whacky. Just everything was amazing. Plus it led to the Peacemaker show which was equally amazing. Just hand over the reigns to all DC live action stuff to Gunn, because they need a major pick-me-up.

Now for the sequel I’ve always wanted. Drum roll please…

KUNG POW!!!

I mean come on. There was a dang trailer for it in the original movie! I needs it. This movie is everything to me and if any of you reading this haven’t seen it you need to drop everything and watch it (unless you don’t like perfection). I don’t think any other B movie has ever, or will ever stand up against it.

Awards

- Sicario day of the soldado: a sequel worthy of the wonderful first film

- Top Gun Maverick: better than the first and undoubtedly the best of the year, all thanks to good old Tom

- Captain America The Winter Soldier: The best of the cap and probably of all Marvel

- 10 Cloverfield Lane: very good "sequel" with a great John Goodman

- Godzilla King of the Monsters: Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidorah... Some incredible special appearances, I would say the best of that year.

And seeing the wise opinions of various phychos, I join the desire to see a sequel to Alita, I hope Cameron and Rodriguez get it sooner or later.

Challenge 11….

Not better than Escape from New York, of course, but the Carpenter/Russell collaboration works here, too, in my opinion. Still worth seeing in a different setting.

The more recent OSS 117 films with Jean Dujardin are still worth seeing and entertaining. But I have to admit that for me they don't come close to the first film. But as I said, it's still good to see Jean Dujardin in the wonderfully arrogant role of the agent.

Godzilla vs. Kong is a successful sequel for me from a technical standpoint alone. In terms of sound, the title once again delivers reference quality. Rarely are my subwoofers so challenged!

GotG 2 offers just as entertaining entertainment as the first part. The characters simply work well together. The soundtrack doesn't come close to the originality of the first part, but it also ignites in the second and simply fits!

Of the films mentioned, Suicide Squad is actually the one with the most convincing and best second part for me. The characters are well chosen, the movie doesn't even try to take itself seriously (something I also liked a lot about Expendables, which would have been my alternative here) and the mix of humor, fun and brutality fits perfectly.

I would like to see a sequel to Master & Commander. But since the first film was probably not financially successful enough, it probably won't happen. And they're thinking more about a prequel, if the rumors are true. Wait and see...
