  1. Thanks. Is that because your OC was direct from Manta rather than a GB?
  2. @Emil thanks for the photos! Was this shipped from hub or direct from Manta Lab to yourself please?

  4. Week 19 Challenge - "Through the Decades - a Cinematic Journey" Thought this would be fairly straightforward for most members to complete! Members should choose any 5 films which had a theatrical release in 5 different decades. All forms of physical media is allowed - VHS, DVD, Laserdisc, steelbooks etc The decades can be chosen from 1930s to 2010s - as long as each film had its theatrical release in that decade. Using films from the same franchise is not allowed such as Star Wars, MCU etc as many of these span 2 or more decades. If you wish to post films from more than 5 decades that is also fine. If possible, please state your reason for choosing each film. We would also like to know which cinematic decade was your favourite for movies and when you started collecting movies. Here is my entry to kick things off... 1970s: Star Wars: A New Hope - the film that started it all, never get tired of watching it! 1980s: Karate Kid - we all loved to recreate that "flying" kick in the final sequence... far better than the sequels 1990s: Silence of the Lambs - incredible performances from Foster and Hopkins 2000s: Kill Bill Volume 1 - in my top 3 Tarantino films, and this steelbook from Novamedia is just simply a masterpiece 2010s: Guardians of the Galaxy - one of my favourite MCU entries and especially the 3D IMAX ratio scenes. An easy rewatch anytime, anywhere! Difficult to pin down a favourite decade but probably 90s for Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park however still love many of the new films released each year. It was about 1998 when I started collecting movies - the days of DVDs lol. Hope everyone enjoys this challenge!
  5. Finally… Week 15 - Christmas / Snow! A Christmas Carol Home Alone Polar Express Nutcracker & Four Realms Frozen Hugo (plenty of snow in film!)
  6. Challenge 13 - TV Shows Lost - Season 1, excellent transfer on Bluray and this season really drew me into the show, love the characters and all the questions raised! Parks & Recreation - hope comedy is allowed for challenger? So only started to watch this during lockdown. Second season really developed characters and hilarious. Midsomer Murders - classic British murder mystery. Some of the show’s best episodes in this series Downton Abbey - first series really kicked things off superbly, films are great also! Criminal Minds - second series featured some chilling episodes and got to know lead characters much better. Final season ended well. Streaming shows that need a physical release (steelbooks please!) : Mandalorian Lord of the Rings - Rings of Power Loki
  7. Happy New Year to all!🙂 Challenge 1 - Lenticular Very difficult to pin a favourite but this is in my top 5! Doctor Strange Blufans DL - this simply looks incredible and was a real grail for me! So pleased I sold SL and found DL. Love both depth & transition lentis but chose depth this time. Batman vs Superman HDZeta DL Aquaman Manta DL Love how detail in background adds to the depth!
  8. Week 14 Challenge Dog - Blufans Coco , one of my favourite Pixar films and steelbooks. Glorious! Swan - FAC Deadpool 2, other artwork features a unicorn lol Dragon - HDZeta How to Train Your Dragon... fairly certain this is an animal of sorts! Whale - Life of Pi... if you squint can also see a tiger! Bear - Paddington, simply marvellous film with an excellent sequel My favourite animal is difficult to choose but I have always liked owls as they have some elegance and always have a calming presence about themselves.
  9. Week 12 Challenge - Directors Have chosen 3 directors who I really like as found it difficult to pin down a "top 3" Matt Reeves- gave a very satisfying conclusion to the Apes trilogy and The Batman was simply marvellous (my favourite directed by him)! Look forward to seeing what he has planned for the sequel. Christopher Nolan - Always a cerebral production from Nolan. Favourite film is really tough to choose between Interstellar and Dark Knight. Both excellent in their own way. Ridley Scott - certainly gave cinema fans some incredible moments in his career. Very tough to pick a favourite - possibly Prometheus although Blade Runner and Covenant are a close second!
  10. Week 11 Challenge 1. Jurassic World - one of my favourite films in the series and especially like the addition of Chris Pratt training raptors. Added more humour and solid action than JP2 and JP3! 2. Despicable Me 2 - easily my favourite of the trilogy with every character developing well from the first film and addition of a new love interest ensures greater comedy than the first! 3. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Matt Reeves really build on the solid foundation of the first film by really letting Caesar (and Serkis performance) shine with jaw-dropping realistic apes and building up to the great climax of the third film! 4. How to Train Your Dragon 2 - first film was great at introducing main characters but this works really well by upping the action and tension whilst retaining some daft humour from the first film 5. Star Trek Into Darkness - addition of Benedict Cumberbatch really worked well to wind up Kirk and also enjoyed Spock struggling with his developing emotions. Also the addition of fantastic 3D (opening scene ducking the arrows!) missing from the first film really helped! Finally I think Dredd (2012) truly deserves a sequel as Karl Urban was perfect and unlike Stallone kept his helmet on! Anderson would be interesting in the sequel to see if reconsiders a role as a Judge.
  11. Week 10 challenge - an excellent suggestion and a big thank you to everyone's friendly neighbourhood squirrel @extantsrevenge !! **UPDATE** I have a challenge for next week 😉 Aware only needed 5 but sneaked an extra steel in just in case any of the others were not allowed! I am not expert on weapons so please be lenient if any of these are horrendously incorrect lol. 😅 Aquaman Manta Lab DL - trident Dredd FAC E2 SL - The Lawgiver Mk II Black Panther Blufans DL - Vibranium Spear Terminator 2 Judgment Day FAC E1 FS - Winchester Model 1887 shotgun Gladiator HDZeta DL - Roman (?) Sword Deadpool 2 FAC E3 DL - Desert Eagle Mark XIX pistol Favourite weapon used by a hero - very close between Dredd's Lawgiver and Constantine's Holy Shotgun.... but Dredd wins as it is so darn versatile and especially like the nifty finger print recognition if someone other than the specific Judge tries to use it! Villain - Darth Vader's red lightsaber in either Empire Strikes Back or the marvellous Rogue One. Vicious and efficient yet also one might say - stylish.
  12. Not me - all working fine with the Clubs, GBs and Store. Thanks for asking!🙂
  13. Challenge - Week 9 ! So the first soundtrack I purchase was Fellowship of the Ring back in 2001. Since then we have blessed with full extended sountracks in Dolby Digital 5.1 on DVD-Audio discs to the ultimate upgrade of Blu-ray uncompressed audio DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 which are shown in my photo as a trilogy. Five films and soundtracks as follows: 1. Lord of the Rings Trilogy - and special edition Bluray soundtracks which for some reason switched colours from the traditional green / red / blue for each film! I never tire of watching these films or immersing myself in Howard Shore's epic compositions. Wish more soundtracks were released on 5.1 DTS-HD audio tracks! The ultimate goal would be soundtracks in Atmos surely?? 2. The Dark Knight- incredible soundtrack with Why So Serious my favourite track! Soundtrack is a 2 disc special edition released a long while ago. 3. Man of Steel - really hope a sequel is made! Target released this limited edition metalpak which is embossed and features 2 disc soundtrack (yes there is a pattern lol!) 4. Interstellar - another Zimmer soundtrack but epic and connects on so many levels 5. Guardians of the Galaxy - mixape soundtrack is full of incredible tunes. I have added extra photos to show soundtracks in more detail - think first photo had too many to focus on?
  14. Week 8 Challenge thanks to @Trianna for this marvellous suggestion! Red - Captain America Civil War (Blufans) Orange - Blade Runner 2049 E3 (FAC) Yellow - Kill Bill Volume 1 (Novamedia) Green - Deadpool 2 (FAC) Pale Blue - Star Wars Rogue One (Blufans) Dark Blue - Ant-Man (Blufans) Purple - Dirty Dancing (BestBuy) great colour so added this as an extra! Pink - Drive (Novamedia) Arranging my steels - use a few sections. MCU, Harry Potter, Mission Impossible and Star Wars arranged in film release /episode order. Pixar and Disney films - alphabetical 3D films - alphabetical Other steels - alphabetical Does not work 100% perfectly but doing OK with this so far!
  15. More photos appearing on Facebook from another happy collector, showing further detail on the Amazonian box … again not my photos lol! Enjoy 🙂
  16. I agree the Amzonian looks great - colour will stand out well against the other 2 motherboxes!
  17. @Basil these are not my photos [taken from Facebook] but just arrived in the UK... hope they are of some use! Amazonian box looks like it is showing some great detail anyway.
  18. @extantsrevenge I am truly grateful for this victorious point - thanks so much indeed!
  19. Think I found a GIF to describe how I feel waiting for a decision on this week's submission ...😂
  20. Week 7 Challenge @Pbsw23 Thanks for suggesting this challenge - however this is indeed the most difficult challenge so far as I do not collect (or ever done so in the past) any horror films. Or even films linked to a Halloween theme. 😬 So had to apply some "artistic license" in hope of scraping a point for this challenge. Can only hope that our Friendly Neighbourhood Squirrel @extantsrevenge in a very lenient mood and might award a point for this week's submission or perhaps just for the audicity of submitting some of these films! 😉 Of course the addition of a "12" rating made this challenge even tougher as it ruled out both Coco (skeleton) and Oz (witches) in my collection. Also do not have any films in my collection which prominently feature vampires or ghosts. Sorry not huge fan of this genre!😅 Firstly - first film that "creeped" me out was Silence of the Lambs which I have submitted as Wikipedia classes this as a "psychological horror": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Silence_of_the_Lambs_(film) If it qualifies on Wikipedia then surely that is the ultimate source of truth ? Hopkins was terrifying and watching it in the early 90s there was no other film quite like it (that I knew of at the time) and the serial killer really did give me the "shivers" and disturbed dreams! So rest of films submitted ... Shaun of the Dead - zombies galore! Scream (2021) - definitely qualifies as a horror! Donnie Darko - perhaps not a traditional horror but I think the rabbit is frightening and adds a definite horror element to the film! Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (part 1) - rated "12" and Lupin is a werewolf! OK I know this is definitely a long shot but Prisoner of Azkaban is rated PG lol Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows (part 2) - also a 12 and features many witches / dark wizards so hopefully qualifies? Red Lights -chosen as deals with ghosts and the paranormal
  21. @blu.steel33 are you planning to ship these after the next Royal Mail Strike on Tuesday 25th?
  22. Week 6 challenge thanks to @InfiniteDoorsfor this great suggestion! L - Logan (FAC + lenticular magnet) U - Up (Blufans ) N - Nutracker and the Four Realms (BestBuy) A - Alien Covenant (FAC ) Z - Zootopia (Blufans) E - Edward Scissorhands (+ FAC lenticular magnet) R - Ready Player One (Manta Lab) O - Oz the Great and Powerful (Blufans) Before I had the greatest passion for films (although I had love watching these since a child) I used to see a lot of bands live. One of my favourites and still making new albums as we speak is the Smashing Pumpkins. To choose a username I bound two of their songs from possibly the greatest albums of the 20th Century: Siamese Dream "Luna" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness "Zero" Definitely check out both albums on iTunes, Spotify, YouTube and whatever else takes your fancy!
  23. Week 5 challenge - many thanks to @Gary K for this suggestion! 1. Batman v Superman - HDZeta Double Lenticular (first edition) Absolutely love this double lenticular slip and it is the only steelbook art I could tolerate for this film! One of the first HDZeta editions I owned and a very kind member on this fantastic forum sold this to me at a very reasonable price! This was one of many reasons I stumbled onto the world of MP and remained since 2019. Also led me down the path to own several more HDZeta DL slips. 2. Doctor Strange - Blufans Double Lenticular Think this is easily my favourite Blufans DL although GOTG2 and Thor Ragnarok are close! Chose this edition as it was the last DL I bought from Blufans MCU early releases and a definite grail which took many months of hunting. The depth of the lenticular image and the outstanding sharpness always makes it a great day when taken off the shelf. 3. Man of Steel - Manta Lab Lenticular Manta's first release (I think?) and the transition on the lenticular slip was really good. Great effort put in by Manta and it did not take much convincing for me to purchase further editions from them. 4. Kill Bill Volume 2 - Novamedia Fullslip A Another retailer who released some incredible editions and a fullslip rather than a lenti. Chose this slip as it was one of the first Nova slips I bought and I really love the snakeskin detail on the slip. Steelbook looks great but nothing quite beats the pure brilliance of Volume 1's yellow steelbook. Pulp Fiction Fullslip A is also tremendous and it will be interesting to see what Manta have up their sleeve for their Tarantino releases. 5. Avengers Endgame - WeET Fullslip A2 Chose this edition as it was one of my first GB editions from MP and led to buy more WeET releases. The embossing and detail on all their fullslips are incredible and I love seeing the light shine off this slip, similar to t\one of heir earlier GOTG2 slips.
