About This Club

A club open to all to discuss and throw around movies we'd like to see upgraded to 4K. Please create a new topic for each suggestion 🙏
  1. What's new in this club
  2. Feel free to let me know if anything here is already out, because I think I've checked all of these: Hero Castaway Reign over me The Island Die Hard Home alone Usual suspects My Fair Lady Music Man Mary Poppins Wind River Cinderella man Snowpiercer Silver Linings Playbook Passengers Equilibrium Ratatouille Finding Nemo Incredibles Inside Out Guys and Dolls Moulin Rouge Babe Superman Returns Green Lantern Chicago Probably 100 more...
  3. You’re correct, thank you! I don’t know how I missed that and I wonder if I was just looking at streaming at the time. Amazon also has the Welles version for $25.
  4. It is, and it’s a great transfer done by Criterion. I think it is around $21 or so on Amazon US right now.
  5. Thank you! You know, I’m not sure if the 1971 Macbeth is even on Blu Ray. Was looking for it a few years ago and it was very difficult to find.
  6. Really long and doesn’t come close to covering everything. Children of Men Network The Big Sleep Hamlet (Branagh version) Reds There will be blood Boogie Nights The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Killing Them Softly The Insider Inside Man Clockers Fight Club 25th Hour Miller’s Crossing The Man Who Wasn’t There In The Mouth of Madness Manhunter Man on Fire Twin Peaks All The President’s Men Babe: Pig In The City Sexy Beast The Hustler The Color of Money Slap Shot Inside Llewyn Davis Kingdom of Heaven Director’s Cut LA Confidential Layer Cake Magnolia Barry Lyndon Master and Commander The Right Stuff No Country For Old Men Three Kings Transsiberian The Tree of Life Atonement May be coming this year: Amadeus Almost Famous Django Unchained Kill Bill I really want the ones that would look most amazing, like There Will Be Blood,, Assassination of Jesse James, Llewyn Davis, Three Kings, Tree of Life, Barry Lyndon, Branagh’s Hamlet and Atonement just for the Dunkirk scene and Keira Knightley’s dress.
  7. Thank you so much! Barry Lyndon is in my top 10 favorite films of all-time, so I want that more-than anything, but The Insider and Tree of Life would look AMAZING in 4K as well. Go to the "Topic" section of this club, and click "Start a topic" that is above all posts at the top in red.
  8. Great list. The Great Silence would look amazing. I’ve put mine together and we have several in common. The Insider, Tree of Life and Barry Lyndon jump out at me as movies we both have that would look amazing. Dumb question: how do you post your list as a topic in the group rather than as a reply to someone?
  9. Here is my list of films/shows that I feel would excel on the 4K UHD format: - Barry Lyndon - Portrait of a Lady on Fire - Toys (1992) - All Studio Ghibli films - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - 8 1/2 - La Strada - La Dolce Vita - Ikiru (The Toho Kurosawa 4K Blu-Rays don't count since they are exclusive to Japan and have no subtitles) - After Life (1998) - Come and See - Chef - Le Samouraï - The Tree of Life - Wild Strawberries - Tootsie - The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) - Amélie - The Crow - The Grand Budapest Hotel - The Insider - The Ocean's Trilogy - Ocean's 11 (1960) - Blazing Saddles - Robin Hood: Men in Tights - Young Frankenstein - Isle of Dogs - The Thin Red Line - The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021) - The Tragedy of Macbeth (1971) - The Great Silence - Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Monty Python's Life of Brian - Band of Brothers - Throne of Blood - Jackie Brown - The Hateful Eight - Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 I'm sure there are many more, but these are what I want the most.
  10. Welcome @Moviebuff1! Glad to meet you. Yeah, I'm sure it's a ways off. I still worry about the 4K discs receiving the same dodgy Lowry transfers that some of the entries have... though honestly, I'd still buy them! Hey if you're a Bond fan, we've got a game of "Guess the Bond Film" going over in the Shaken, Not Stirred club section, run by resident Bond connoisseur @R1s1ngs0n. Join us if you like, the more the merrier!
  11. It would be nice to have all of the Bond films on 4K , since the only ones we have at the moment are the Daniel Craig ones , however I doubt it will actually happen since Amazon brought MGM out right , I don’t seem them willing to take the time to put the older films on 4K , so in the meantime the Blu ray box set will have to do for now
  12. Forgot one more—I'm just going to update this topic thread as I think of them. The Bond films should've been obvious. Fresh scans with none of that dodgy "Lowry process" Some of the Connery films have such bad swarming, unnatural grain, with odd looking motion.
  13. I have several films I'd love to see in 4K! These are my most wanted: Master and Commander The audio on the BD is so incredible, I just want the video to match Sunshine Tron: Legacy Can you imagine the HDR? Solaris (Soderbergh version) HOW DOES THIS NOT ALREADY HAVE A BD RELEASE? 2010: The Year We Make Contact The grain on this would be epic Doctor Sleep (Director's Cut) Downright criminal that the Director's Cut is only available on 4K streaming A few others... Aliens Alien 3 Alien Resurrection Gravity Galaxy Quest The Black Hole American Beauty Lifeforce (International Cut) Waterworld (Ulysses Cut) Titanic Steve Jobs Mission to Mars True Lies And now, my holy grails... The Abyss (Special Edition) One of my absolute favorite movies. Theatrical cut is borderline unwatchable, Special Edition is the way. Star Wars (Theatrical Cuts)
  14. Knowing myself, I would only watch the Extended Cut ...
  15. Great list! This has inspired me to work on my own 4K wishlist. I'm partial to Contact and Falling Down, those would be phenomenal. I haven't seen Payback—which version do you prefer? Would probably be nice to have both cuts on 4K.
  16. Hello community, we do have a new club, but other than members, I don't see any posts here yet... so let's get started. I've been following everything 4K since the beginning and I've been totally into it since 2016. So far, the 90s are the best decade of cinema for me and I wish for many more films in 4K from this decade. Any given Sunday (1999) Cape Fear (1991) Casper (1995) Cop Land (1997) Contact (1997) Desperado (1995) Falling Down (1993) Forever Young (1992) Good Will Hunting (1997) Hurricane (1999) L.A. Confidential (1997) Last Boy Scout (1991) Payback (1999) Perfect World (1993) Seven (1995) Sleepers (1996) The Devil’s Advocate (1997) The Game (1997) The Jury (1996) Thelma & Louise (1991) ... and so many others Every cinema decade has its highlights ... and I also like movies from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s The Hunchback of Norte Dame (1956) Some like it Hot (1959) Irma la Douce (1963) The Great Race (1965)
