Challenge 13:

 

1. The League: The over the top obsession with fantasy football is hysterical, and it runs the lives of most of the characters.

 

2. Always Sunny in Philadelphia:  It's Seinfeld on crack.  The jokes keep coming and they offend everyone.  The cast is brilliant.

 

3. Seinfeld:  What else to say, the gold standard in comedy at the time.  The storylines were very creative and commonly shocking.

 

4. House: A genius physician able to diagnose the most impossible conditions while being the biggest jerk at the same time.  After awhile it got stale, but the first few seasons were fun. Amazed how they could come up with a new extremely rare disease state with each episode.

 

5. Dexter: Each episode was unique and entertaining, especially in the first few seasons.  Definitely a hit series on Showtime.

I feel like this list could change almost daily, but today this is the list of my favorites in order.

Thankfully all of these already have steelbooks available for them; however, I am ecstatic to see what fullslips Creator Era comes up with for Star Wars and just hoping we have enough sign up to get these made.  But also a Blufans Star Wars steelbook of Episode 4,5, and 6 would be a dream that will likely never come true.

As repeatedly mentioned by others in recent posts, a Top 10 is an almost impossible task. But in the interest of pondering & procrastinating no longer, going purely off identifying those movies that I will happily watch again and again, and presented in chronological order this is what I have come up with.

 

1. Predator (1987)

 

 

2. Batman (1989)

 

 

3. Tremors (1990)

4. Trespass (1992)

5. Bad Boys (1995)

6. From Dusk till Dawn (1996)

 

 

7. Starship Troopers (1997)

8. The Fast and the Furious (2001)
9. Training Day (2002)

 

 

10. Iron Man (2008)

 

I would say there are 3 or 4 listed here that I could swap out for other personal treasures such as Fallen, The Blues Brothers, Friday, Infinity War… I could go on… 😄

 

For a favourite movie that I would like to see a steelbook release for, I would opt for either Fast Company (1979) Trespass (1992) or Grabbers (2012) but all seem highly unlikely.

 

For a favourite that I would love to see get the premium treatment, it has to be the Iron Man Trilogy Or the Blade Trilogy by WeET… OR Starship Troopers by MantaLab (That’s right, I’m greedy). 🤞🏼😁

Media Psychos Challenge Week 16 - It’s So Hard To Choose!!

 

Thanks to @Chief_lookout for a fiendishly difficult challenge this first week of 2023 and thanks to the Chief Squirrel In charge, @extantsrevenge for stewarding the ongoing challenge so effectively.

 

As I mentioned above, there are 7 movies that are my “constants” and will always be found in my top 10.  In no particular order they are:

 

1) Blade Runner

2) The Thing

3) Godfather 2

4) Empire Strikes Back

5) Jaws

6) Raiders Of The Lost Ark

7) Goodfellas

 

Solely for purposes of this challenge and using the “put a gun to my head and make me choose right now” mental exercise, the other three are:

9) Trading Places

10) Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan

 

Of these, Trading Places and Star Trek 2 definitely need good steelbooks and I’d love to see top notch premium set for Raiders…

 

Now, on any other given day the following could end up in my top 10 (and these are just a few of the 20-30 others that could be in my top 10) - Seven, Matrix, Caddyshack, Fletch, Alien, Aliens, T2, Network, Suspiria, Exorcist, Tenebre, Possession and many others)

My most wanted steelbook is easily The Abyss (Special Edition). I basically tell that to anyone with ears, my dog is especially tired of hearing about how much I want The Abyss. It could be such a beautiful steelbook with an incredible 4K transfer... standard release steel could be a white slipcover with The Abyss logo transparent, slide it off and there's nice underwater art on the steel proper... come on, universe, we need this!

 

I guess I have a thing for Manta Lab so I'd most like to see them tackle an Abyss premium. But now that it's in Disney's vault I'm sure it'd be a tough deal. 

 

So much Sci-Fi . . . I am digging it!!!   All those SPACE ones are in mine!!

Thanks @Chief_lookout for this great challenge to kick of the New Year. Very unique Top 10 and seeing a movie 500 times 😲. I think the most I have seen a movie is between 40-50 times and this should go to Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel my Christmas movie 😊.

 

Ranking your favorite movies is actually something I have done for a long time, I keep a Word list of all the movies in my collection and try to rank them, which I have to admit is an almost impossible task. Each time I revisit one of the movies I check the position and see if it should move up, stay at that position or go down. My Top 10 have not changed in a long time, and I honestly don't think they will in the future, that said many following places would also deserve a place in the Top 10 and it is often only tiny things why I place 1 movie above the other. I actually find it even harder to rank the movies the further down the list I get, as you then reach the movies that are not "PERFECT". So I get anyone who has trouble with such a list, but I like the results I see so far.

 

@R1s1ngs0n your list I already knew and I like how diverse it is. Love the inclusion of Batman Returns, such a great movie.

 

@Cornrow I think you like singing in a movie 😀, also very modern list.

@ethnosax love the inclusion of Spirited Away. Several of the Miyazaki are close to my Top 10, but like others already noticed, 10 places fill so fast.

@Mrdugan very awesome to see Akira getting mentioned. It is one of the all time great anime Movies, I consider it a Masterpiece too, damn you Top 10 for only having 10 spots 🤣

 

@cypheria078 I think I could have guessed your #1, love it too, terrific to see someone else include Braveheart. For me the best single movie ever made. I can still remember how blown away I was in the cinema, one of the unforgettable movie going experiences.

@bossjon for me new movies have trouble reaching the higher spots, since I have seen so much already and they simply can't impress me like the movies I saw when I was a kid/teen/young adult. Sometimes I'm sad about it and feel like some of the movie making magic has been lost in the last few years.

 

@InfiniteDoors  only 1 Star Trek in your list and it is not Wrath of Khan, or 4 or 6 or 8 😲

Seeing all the different lists makes you appreciate the cinematic history a lot. Very much appreciate that many classic movies from the 80s, 90s or before are still so relevant and beloved by collectors.

I only have Kelvin steels! 😧 As much as I want the original movies, I HATE the 50th anniversary border on all of them. Plus I'd have to pay out the ass to get them all.

It was also a really hard choice between Rocky and Rambo First Blood and between Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Honestly, I would like to have a steelbook of them all since at the moment I only have Godfather I/II and Scarface.
