Went with a Halloween/horror theme here:

M - Midsommar

R - Re-Animator

D - Dawn of the Dead

U - Ugetsu

G - Ghostbusters

A - Amityville

N - Nightmare Sisters (this will do until there’s a 4K box of Nightmare on Elm St)

When I was in college there were a lot of “rate me” or “rate my” websites and one of those sites was “rate my poo”. A “Dugan” was a slang term we used for a poop. I was in a house of 5-6 guys and we created a communal account on the rate my poo website with the user name “Mr Dugan”. Looking back at it, this was the early 2000s before most cellphones had cameras. I don’t really remember how we took pictures of our turds and uploaded them to the website. Did we actually use a film camera, develop the film, scan the pic onto a computer, and then upload the image?!? Website appears to be gone; we always got a kick out of the names/titles we would come up with (as you had to title each post) and at the fact that so many people had looked at our craps. Anyways, I have really been re-using the name for various message boards ever since.

Here is my entry for challenge 6.

R- Righting Wrongs

Y- Yojimbo

A- A Better Tomorrow

N- Nineteen seventeen/1917

My name is well.......my actual name lol. I never know if I should use a creative username or just use my real one. I would spend an hour trying to think of one. So I went with, yours truly.

These titles show off my love for foreign film.

Challenge #6: ABCDLMNOP: Alphabetize and Summarize!

Puh, this was really hard for me because of the "Y" in my user name and I dont have one single film in my collection beginning with "Y".

I thought this time "I have to give up" but...the hints about the "valid backdoors" brought me to the following idea:

In our alphabet the "Y" is at position 25 of 26. But why not use the older ones like the roman alphabet or the greek ? 😇

In the roman alphabet the "Y" stands at position 22, in the Greek alphabet "Y" is at position 20. So my substitutes for the "Y" are:

A roman "V" (position 22) and a greek "T" (position 20)👍😁. Oh man, I'm such a clever boy!

As my mom always says: "Now I know why my son got a high school diploma..." 🤣

Using this little "cheat" I also tried to find some art of historical movies beginning with the other letters.

Here we go

R = Redcliff (very impressive epic asian war movie)

A = Alexander

Y = replaced by "T" and "V" so Tombstone and V for Vendetta

L = Lawrence of Arabia

I = Indiana Jones

G = Gladiator

H = Hercules

T = Troja

IMG_8174.JPG.bb378e78e0cfa6e6e709165c4c30ec7f.JPGIMG_8172.JPG.57b67732296f94a8c825d2b50d0667c5.JPGIMG_8171.JPG.3be93646f796fd2bcaeea36511209bdd.JPGIMG_8170.JPG.2640c94d643e2a6551b87143c2da8e9d.JPGIMG_8169.JPG.1e84fb592bd0101033afd7a5431e24b3.JPGIMG_8168.JPG.d68124fb4755f09fda088169a710969b.JPGIMG_8167.JPG.e3a1a589f967163551b7a9da56d2f1eb.JPGIMG_8166.JPG.cf46d29ebf7c478b6669ef8af60a01ac.JPGIMG_8164.JPG.3c177c7feca3f1de0b324ee6cea604da.JPG

Why "raylight" ?

I was 15 years old when I went the first time into a disco/club. I was very impressed by all the different lights, fog machine and of course the loud music of the PA. On that day, a couple of buddies and I decided: "we want to do that too".  And so it happened that my best friend Marcus (R.I.P. - died of cancer) opened a company for light and sound engineering. Since then we were on the road every weekend at parties and the equipment also became more and more extensive. This included the well-known PAR64 stage spotlight, which regularly burned my fingers because the 500W halogen bulbs heated up the entire housing. 😄 And a part of the housing was also the reflector to focus the light beam...the Raylight reflector.

I thought the name was cool and used it as a username on the internet.

Challenge #6 - Thanks to @InfiniteDoorsfor this worthy challenge!

Speaking of the origin of my username, I've always considered myself a bit of a nerd.

Spoiler

"An intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit," as per the definition on Dictionary.com😜

And one day I thought, people can be optimists, idealists, you name it, so why couldn't I be a nerdist? So here came the name quite easily... Food for thought btw: are you a lenticularist or... lentist?😂

Anyway, here's my alphabetizing effort!✍️ (Not entirely sure about the letter N cuz I don't actually have a movie that starts with it, but I might as well give it a shot since I tried with my nerdist power.)

New Blood
 (Dexter’s revival series, limited steelbook)

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (kimchidvd lenticular steelbook)

The Revenant
 (Manta Lab lenticular steelbook)

Drive (Manta Lab lenticular steelbook)

Inception (HDZeta silver label edition)

Se7en
 (Manta Lab lenticular steelbook)

Thor (Blufans lenticular steelbook)

Uncharted

the Prestige

Eternals

the Lion king : j'aurais du prendre l'appellation française mais les deux versions figurent sur la tranche du steelbook ... ca me sauve 😁

le Livre de la jungle

l'Empire contre attaque de la saga Star Wars

Très bonne soirée à vous.

Submission for challenge #6! I had to search my entire old collections to find two Os 😅

C - Cloud atlas

O - the Orphanage

R - Robin hood

N - Ninja assassin

R - Resident evil

O - 1(One)2 monkeys

W - the Wrestler

And my username came from my super super curly hair. I started using this username everywhere after my friends told me that it looks like cornrow hairstyle when i once had long hair.

Do you feature anywhere, or have any Oldschool mix tapes etc. that it is possible to listen too?

Im a Big Hip Hop fan which for the UK back in the day, was a little rare. Used to drive around in my first car with a battery operated (cost me a fortune in batteries) boom box on the back seat, banging out a Terminator X, Tribe Called Quest, De La etc etc. Purely because the car stereo was Shite. 😂

Also have you seen The Get Down on Netflix? Not quite true to form, but still enjoyable all the same (Produced by and features Nas vocals).

@Pbsw23 @BreakBeatDJ Not to derail what this thread is for, but just wanted to add that I'm a big hip hop head myself. Been listening to a lot of Benny the Butcher, Freddie Gibbs, Black Thought, and Pusha-T lately. Nas is my #1

I grew up on Outkast, Goodie Mob, and of course Pac and Biggie.

My nickname doesn't have a clear origin, it was an improvisation. But thinking about it, I have remembered that once, years ago, I wrote "Casius Co" on a piece of paper, one of those times when you wander with the pen while you are attentive to something else; and its sound reminded me of a word that my grandmother had invented .

Maybe it was because of that. I'm not sure either.

1.jpg

  • ColdWar. A magnificent auteur Polish drama, perhaps romantic and realistic in difficult times, with simple but elegant edition, like the film.
  • Alien. I think it needs no introduction. It's another love story between Sigourney Weaver and the protagonist. History of cinema.
  • Singing in the Rain. Where I live, people speak Galician and Spanish, and Galician has a saying: "If it rains, let it rain." Don't let a cloud spoil your moment if you have just left someone in the portal.
  • Interstellar. Another one that needs no introduction. And yes, one of the characters says that love is the most important thing. But no, it's not a romantic story. It is a BIG movie, one of the most important of the last ten years. With all its letters.
  • Unforgiven. Great movie. If you want to see Eastwood in love you will have to find another, but I needed an "U", not a "M".
  • Superman. It's another auteur drama. The parents die and in inheritance they force the protagonist to wear tights and red underpants over his clothes, and out of shame he flies away. I will never stop enjoying it, not even when I'm old. Superman is part of us.
  • Casino. Scorsese. There are no jokes here.
  • Once upon a time in Hollywood. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to purchase this edition here. And I was lucky, there was only one copy left for all members in my membership. But at that time I still carried the knife between my teeth, accustomed to fighting for an edition outside of here. As for the film, it's a family comedy that you can watch with the grandparents and the children, lots of popcorn, and a desire to laugh, on any winter Sunday afternoon, with the lights off and the blanket around your legs. You will love the last half hour. Don't even think of getting up before you get there.

First a big thanks to Nils aka @extantsrevenge and Indi aka @InfiniteDoors for this #6 challenge👋

Indeed it would be time to participate for my second point😉

meantime I've been sitting and watching in the "shadow" like our colleague....:D

So let's start, Once upon a time....

My username came from  "forza juve"  and its an expression, Juventus fans use to support Juventus.
It means Go Juventus! Juventus is an Italian soccer team.
and the ending " unu" comes from the Latin translation of the number 1.

These are the "ingredients" that helped me give you all an autograph✌️

Cheers!!!

I got stuck with challenge #6 because I have no films beginning with the letter "Y".  I've had to cheat....sorry!

I've chosen films and sets which sum up why I collect...

M = My Darling Clementine.  Great movie, one of my favourite Westerns and is from Arrow

IMG-9813.thumb.jpg.fef7a55d8858096c9bae9915c13cc16a.jpg

A = Apollo 11.  I love to get releases which come with extras and watching this mission in 4K was simply stunning.

IMG-9814.thumb.jpg.e1fc582a51f052246cea17021a16417b.jpg

R = Roma.  Another great movie.  I always enjoy reading chunky booklets of trivia and is from Criterion.

IMG-9815.thumb.jpg.f9ef1ac4596a5291bd5e696a4ff85f95.jpg

T = The Thing.  Do I need to say this one is another GREAT movie?? Also, one of the few films I've double dipped on (I have the WCL release)

I'm late to the premium party.  The CX Media issue was one of my first buys with Media Psychos.  Simply stunning slip...and this forum is a very special place

IMG-9816.thumb.jpg.f6236fec13dce5a2a5047755a55ff614.jpg

Y = You'll Never Walk Alone.  Ok, this is the cheat...sorry!!

My big passion away from movies is football.  I support Liverpool FC and "You'll Never Walk Alone" is a club song

This is re-runs of seven FA cup final wins between 1965 and 2006.  My best one being 1974, I have played it countless times.

However, I've not watched it for such a long time.  I've moved house, twice.  When I looked inside today....the 1974 disc was missing!!!

I suspect it got left inside one of my old DVD players, which will have long been sold or sent out to pasture....whoops!

IMG-9818.thumb.jpg.f49669cc8ee477f7d241cd04af9a1b8b.jpg

Spoiler

IMG-9819.thumb.jpg.087ba60ec1c8b666c6a17b3e51a634e0.jpg

N = Nosferatu.  Yes, another GREAT.   I love silent movies.  I have a lot of Keaton and early horrors in particular.

This was one of my first steelbook purchases ever and is from Eureka/Masters Of Cinema

So I’ve been away from home now for a couple of days now and was hoping I’d be back before the end of this week but it appears it won’t happen.

This challenge appears to me some what difficult for me as I left home just an hour after Challenge 6 started and quickly had a look into my collection to see if I have anything which can make my name and I fell short just by 2 letters so I’ve had to use the first letter of the second word as you will see below.

Unfortunately I do not have any photos as of this current moment but once I’m back home I can take it and post it on here.

M: The Matrix

O: Straight Outta Compton

N: Nightcrawler

E: Edge Of Tomorrow

Y: Your Name

S: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

N: Nobody

I: Interstellar

P: Perfect Blue

E: Avengers: Endgame

R: Reservoir Dogs

Now as for where I got my name, I’m a long time basketball fan and have been watching the NBA since the age of 6 or 7 and am a supporter of the Toronto Raptors. My favourite active player is Kevin Durant and the name he has been given is “Easy Money Sniper” which basically means he’s able to score from any given part of the court effortlessly

GIF by NBA

Brooklyn Nets Basketball GIF by ESPN

So what I done was I have taken the “Easy” out of “Easy Money Sniper” and just went with “MoneySniper”.

😄 Thank you @extantsrevenge for the point! Really enjoyed reading all the fun stories as well!

It's hard for me not to think this gif choice is intentional, cuz... hey it's Chris Hardwick from Nerdist, my namesake apparently (🤣not that I copycatted the name since I only found out afterwards).

Let's start with Challenge 6.

First of all something about my username:

My user name comes from a comic figure I invented many years ago in the vocational school of my first professional training (boredom during the lessons). These comic characters were so-called "Corns" (small, round (football-size) in different variations) - similar to Gremlins, but more obscene and brutal. I started writing stories about them in class with a good friend (and classmate in training at that time). Since there were hunters in these stories who hunted the "Corns", it eventually became the name "Cornbuster" into beeing, which has served as a username or placeholder for various things in my life. Even today... 😂

Attached the drawing of a "Corn":

CB_aw_mp_2.thumb.jpg.29519533a0ca1668a65bedcbd0acdabe.jpg

And now the movies:

C - Casino

O - Oblivion

R - Rush

N - Nell

B - Bohemian Rhapsody

U - Upgrade

S - Speed

T - Train to Busan

E - Equalizer

R - Rocketman

hello to all, here is my first participation in this section, I would have liked to be with you from the start but lack of time, finally the main thing is that it became possible by getting a good kick in the ass,  I didn't search too long and for the record, I'm inventing anything on my nickname that directly refers to Jackson's films, more specifically, I'm a fan of Tolkien's universe, here we go  this first challenge for me
