+Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man (1943) dead2.gifdead2.gifdead2.gifdead2.gifdead2.gif

This is most likely the first film that my mom introduced to me and my siblings from the TV show Nightmare Theatre that showed these fantastic Universal Monsters on Friday/Saturday nights. Larry must find a cure from his monstrous being of a Wolf Man and seeks out Dr. Frankensteins diary on the living and the dead as he meets up with the Monster… This is so good as it has all my fav criteria with the production sets, the great make-ups and the superb acting especially Lon Chaney Jr. as the Wolf Man.

+ Manhunter (1986) dead2.gifdead2.gifdead2.gifdead2.gifdead2.gif

Really enjoy this rendition of the “whole Red Dragon saga”, for me this is a “psychological horror” type of film as they bring former FBI profiler Will Graham into the case to hunt down this psychotic serial killer Dollarhyde and tries to get some help from Lecktor himself… loved the Iron Butterfly song In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida throughout that scene…

My son and I saw Five Nights at Freddy’s tonight.  A family member introduced him to the game (when he was probably too young :)) and he has always been a huge fan.  So he knows everything about every game, probably every video made about each of the games.  He absolutely loved this movie.

I thought it was fine.  My strong suspicion is that this movie will be loved by fans of the game and largely ignored by everyone else.  If you have no love for or awareness of the game, you would probably enjoy a lot of other movies more than this one, and should watch those.

I remember first seeing this film as a little kid when my mom and I went to the movies. she wanted to see this I wanted to see james and the giant peach. my movie started after hers so I got to see a good portion before going to the next theater room over to watch my film and it terrified me. it wasn't until many years later in my 20's did I decided to watch this film in whole for the first time.

Universal Horror Collection: Volume 4 (Blu-ray)

The production sets were very nice but the storyline just didn’t hold up for me ( no real spookiness to be had) a little disappointing considering this had Bela Lugosi and Lionel Atwill which did not utilize them at all. disappointed.gif

I wish Jonathan Demme and George Armitage had been able to film the whole series of books by Charles Willeford based on his character Hoke Mosely (played by Fred Ward, and impersonated by Alec Baldwin).  Fun, dark comedy that must have been impossible to market.   Fred Ward should have had two franchises, this and Remo Williams.

It is not quite as good as the “original” but I enjoyed this remake even though they try to follow the same pattern as the “original”… I like Liev Schreiber as U.S. diplomat Robert Thorn.

On Saturday, we watched the 2003 Remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I still enjoy this remake compared to all of the other (I'm looking at your Jackie Earl Freddy).

Last night, we watched a double-header of Return of the Living Dead 1 & 2. It's still some of the best Horror Comedy out there. Dan O'Bannon does great on the 1st one, and Ken Wiederhorn keeps it in the same veins with 2nd. This was the first time I've seen the 2nd, and to see the same characters come back and play different parts, it was great.

Killers_of_the_Flower_Moon_film_poster.j

It's Scorsese.

A long film, more than 200 minutes, with a simple plot, without big chases or unexpected script twists. Starting from that, anyone could ask: what then happens during the film? Life, friend, life. The life that was, the reality that existed behind a specific moment in American history, not so distant from other local histories.

What happens is a detailed and at the same time agile narrative where we meet real, tangible, not stuffy characters, impregnated with a culture and a way of living that is shown and taken naturally in the film, without exaggerations or underlining; so that everything flows easily, but exactly. And, in the middle, the story of something that happened, and should not have happened.

The three hours and twenty-six minutes of duration are not necessary to be able to tell all the things that happened. No. They are essential to understand the world in which they happened. And to be able to judge them, and appreciate them.

In a way, just as Kelly Reichardt's "First Cow" was an approximation of the real, early West, at its beginnings in the real world, "Killers of the Flower Moon" is an approximation of the end of the West, just before the jump to the modern age; to when some things could no longer be done, and they disappeared, or, simply, were adapted. A chronicle of events whose first concern is to take you and walk you through that world. And do it in a way that flows.

Yes, guys, it's Scorsese.

One of my fav all-time spooky films for me with excellent acting from poor little Reagan, her mother to both of the priests and Lt, Kinderman. This was tremendously directed by the great Wm. Friedkin and the excellent story from Wm. Blatty. Everything about this film is top-notch and truly very enjoyable.

My all-time fav of the Universal Classic Monsters. The 4K is excellent showing off the beautiful black & white picture. Love the production sets and Lon Chaney Jr. as The Wolf Man is just so exceptional and what a supporting cast with the beautiful Evelyn Ankers, the brilliant Claude Rains and Bela Lugosi and also the great Gypsy woman Maria Ouspenskaya. Also enjoyed Ralph Bellamy as Colonel Montford…

was watching this last night on tcm I believe. It came on after bride of Frankenstein. I can truly appreciate these old classics. In many ways I prefer them over the new stuff due to the superior acting.
