Also, where did you find it? Do you have it on disc? Doesn’t appear to be streaming or even available digitally.

How was it? I haven’t seen it since it came out, remember the book better (I was a big King fan as a kid). King was notoriously very, very high on cocaine when he wrote this one.

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)

I think all the Regal theaters are doing it. My local Regal theaters show an older movie every Wednesday night for $5. They’re about to go on a Nolan run. Our local ones are also showing the remastered Norrh by Northwest on Sunday 5/19. Need to go ahead and buy my tickets. I expect a release date for the 4K set to be announced shortly after 5/19. -

Yeah, there are probably few things that dissuade a producer from working with a director like the director having had previous producers wiretapped. It’s a shame. Really interesting scandal though. -
I thought about this one for a while, finally pulled the trigger when I read that it may be a slightly better transfer than the one I have. This set is beautiful: I always open everything in my sets, but haven’t been able to bring myself to break this seal yet: And for anyone else who’s into old Ealing comedies or early Alec Guinness: Lots of cool stuff in the booklet, same with Oldboy. Just popped in Lavender Hill Mov for 20 minutes or so and the transfer looks excellent.

Legitimately tough call. That’s a beautiful cover, but the shot of Prince on the motorcycle a nice classic.

Stone cold classic. Would love a 4K release.

Watching the mailbox at this very moment, hoping to have something to post in the Group Buy thread later. I’m like a little kid -

Yes, unfortunately for my poor, long-suffering wallet that CE Blade Runner set is a must. I have a feeling it’s going to be very popular. -

Listening to the Blank Check podcast, talking about Die Hard with Kevin Smith, they mentioned John McTiernan’s first movie (right before he rattled off Predator, Die Hard and Hunt for Red October), called Nomads. It has Pierce Brosnan and Lesley-Anne Down, how have I never seen this? Anyone here seen it? -

81 here. The good news is that the low is going to be 64 overnight which, for me, means it’s perfect weather for leaving the windows open all night. Love it. -

So I’ve finished 4 episodes. The central mystery/throughline has piqued my curiosity to the point where I’m sure I’ll finish it. But some of the writing and acting feels soap opera/Hallmark film level. I currently don’t buy any of these people as physicists/general braniacs and don’t buy that this is how they speak to one another. I guess that’s to be expected, but still.

Man that’s crazy, what are the odds? When were you at Barren County? I graduated from Warren Central in 1992 (Jeez I’m old). My primary interaction with Barren County High was playing their tennis team twice a year -
Watching this with a friend, so slowly as we can get together: Watched episode 6 last night, Ladies of the Willow World, best episode yet. It’s so nice to watch a show that trusts you to watch closely and figure out what’s happening, rather than explicitly spelling everything out. Really enjoying this show. Had loaned this to a co-worker, returned it yes and I popped it in when we got home: Some of the stuff that looked dazzling in 3D IMAX looks sort of cartoonish at home, and it can get a bit slow, but I think it’s a much better movie to watch at home than the first Avatar. And though it meanders on the way there, the last third is pretty great and I’m fully invested in the characters by then. Then I broke out this Criterion Blu Ray which I’ve had for a while, seen before: Forgot there’s a pretty cool poster in here, may have to smooth it out and put it on our little “media room” (where movies and movie merch are displayed, and video games are played): Great movie. London looks amazing, Widmark is a perfect heel and all the supporting players seem like real people. Movie makes you believe that if you were a more charismatic hustler you might land a Gene Tierney, even if you’re a loser. Seriously though, very good flick.

That sounds cool, I love car shows. We are actually going up to Mammoth Cave, the world’s largest cave system. It’s near my hometown which, since you mention car shows, is the home of the Corvette. I have been to a lot of great car shows. Of course, the big event every year is the Corvette Homecoming, when people drive their Corvettes in from all over the country. But Bowling Green KY also used to be a big center for drag racing as well, and there are lots of non-Corvette car shows. There used to be a big event every year for Grand Nationals but I’m not sure if they’re still doing that. Got any cars that you’re especially proud of? I only drive a Hyundai, sadly, because I’m a middle aged dad who needs a good warranty and good gas mileage. I recently sold the last fun car I had, a 2000 VW GTI VR6. Fun to drive, but it needs so much care that it’s like having an extra child. -
I realize that Erin Moran must have appeared in shows and movies other than Joanie Loves Chachi, but I don’t remember any. Of course, the fact that I remember that show (though I was very young) reveals that I’m getting old.

I’d give it about the same rating, maybe a 7. I didn’t care as much about what happened in the vaults as I think we’re meant to care. And Maximus as a kid crawling out of the refrigerator has already reached Martha-Wayne’s-pearls territory. Feels like they showed it almost every episode. But I always like Walton Goggins and the show tends to work when he’s on screen. Trying to avoid spoilers, but I’d like to see more of a character who evidently won’t be around for the 2nd season. But it’s a good enough show that I’m sure I’ll watch the 2nd season.

Erin Moran? Joanie Loves Aliens?

We’ll see how long I can stay awake, but I guess I’m about to give 3 Body Problem a run. Goodnight, psychos.
