I don't quite meet the requirements of this challenge because I don't have a Premium Edition without a Steelbook, or does a Mediabook also count? But I would like to take part...

Godzilla vs Kong (Manta Lab, HK)

Bumblebee (HDZeta, CN)

The Amazing Spider-Man (WEET, KR)

Justice League (HDZeta, CN)

@R1s1ngs0n & @extantsrevenge

Here is my submission for Challenge 2. Apologies for going the Superhero route Eli, but in order to be true to one’s self, these are some of my favourite editions. I am also throwing a curveball in here. 😁

First up is the edition that kickstarted Premium collecting for me. Novamedia’s first ever Premium release (NC001) back in Sept 2014. I still recall seeing this for the first time on Twitter and just thinking “Bloody Hell, I need to get me one of those!”

FD113716-7D3D-4FC4-9E33-7E7BAD704A60.thumb.jpeg.f745cf72c14597fd72cbf715def184a1.jpeg

Next, and following the “First Release” theme, I am going with Mantalab’s Man of Steel (ME001). I also have their first Global release (WWA) as well, but as we are showing one release per retailer, it has to be MoS. This was back when Holo Foil was all the rage, but Manta mixed it up with some sweet texturing as well. And to top it off, this WEA just oozes class. One very sexy edition indeed.

563A2989-A824-4FB7-B91D-C0763F26F02A.thumb.jpeg.40d2baee6cf0041482acbc4dbfb95e96.jpeg

Next up I am pulling out one of the Big Guns… it is of course the Kings of Fullslips and my boys WeET. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, This Fullslip is the best of the Best. I have recently opened my Age of Ultron offering from WeET and I did consider the fact that it could be a new Champion for the FS, but on comparison I am sticking with this one. It’s a shame it only came with a WWA inside it, because this slip really deserves a stunning WEA to partner it.

Here is Venom. I honestly cannot sell this one enough to collectors, and if you own one and it is still sealed….. Shame on you. 😁

00AA07A0-8E36-4097-B267-14EC33E1062D.thumb.jpeg.5832275c19bfd2f3369cb9003cc2db8a.jpeg

Now for my 4th (and European choice) I was going to go with Alita, but I rather suspect a few people will opt for that one. So instead I am going back in time again to 2015 and Film Arena’s Ghost Rider. A simple design and yet a quite striking edition. The Matt black and glossy embossed title and flaming skull make it a firm favourite for me (Don’t tell @Basil but this one also has a decent transitional Lenti inside it 🤫).

Lastly, the curve ball… Not sure if we’re allowed to go the DVD route? (I have a BluRay back up ready just in case). But for my Non-Steelbook release I could have gone the MLIFE or digibook route, but I wanted to share something a little different. Here is my Original X-Men Trilogy FS edition from the DVD days. I sold off soooooo many DVDs as I started Steelbook collecting, but I have never been able to bring myself to part with this one. Anyway, hope it counts. 🤞🏼 If not I have a fetching Asian Spidey digibook instead. 😆

Cheers.

Yet another difficult choice set by @R1s1ngs0n…… but rising to challenge #2 my choices are :- …..

#1

UHD Club Premier And most Premium release so far .. the Gorgeous Wooden Box edition of Wonder Woman.. this obviously needs no introduction  and is probably the most gorgeous premium edition so far … it certainly sits at the Top of my collection figuratively speaking as it’s permanently hidden away in its packaging and only comes out for occasional viewing such as now…

#2 FAC Maniacs Edition of Bladerunner 2049 , FA did not fall short on this edition, a truly amazing release with 4 stunning editions and a nice wooden horse gift…

#3 Mantalab Drive OC beautiful release  with a very unique outer package cover … I admire Manta for their out of the box thinking …

#4 Mlife  A Writers Odyssey

This is one of the Heaviest Premium Edition I own … it’s simply stunning  in quality and content… the outer box is fully embossed all over in a copper going bush … contents include 4 digipac discs and a separate Hardbox containing several bound books … covering all aspects of the movie from complete storyboard to production photos and a vast amount of art ..

hi,

here are my 5 editions. i dont say that they are my favourite, but they are somehow special for me.

  • ex machina - red pet slip made the whole edition really extremely nice and interesting. so simple 🙂
  • the godfather trilogy - because it is godfather... no more words are needed here
  • kill bill 1+2 - these need to be together as it is one film devided into 2 films. i love the brown colours
  • interstellar - because it was my first premium collection of one of the best directors in the history of cinema (and it closely didnt make the cut for the previous lenticular challenge)
  • predator - classic!

if "godfather" doesnt count as it is not from specific retailer, i can replace it.

@R1s1ngs0nChallenge #2

I also picked 5 releases from 5 different retailers .

1. Dunkirk UHD Club Lenti ( Non Steelbook):

The edition could also have been the winner in the 1st challenge, what an incredible lenti effect.

2.Neon Demon Steelarchive:

For me personally the most beautiful fullslip edition ever, my absolute favourite with stunning colours .

4. Alita Cinemuseum:

A very special release from Italy. I love this movie  and hope for part 2. I especially love the backs of both editions, especially the detailed hand is incredibly good. Then there is also a 128 page booklet/book to go with it.

Okay team. Here's my top 5 (for now - this could probably change week-to-week for me).

Number 5: Everything Blu's Hot Fuzz Boxset and Second Sight Films' The Guest Special Edition

These two tied because I wanted to show a couple different European editions since Asian editions will dominate the rest of this list.

Hot Fuzz by Everything Blu - There is not much that is flashy about this edition but I love the unique attention to detail. The letter pressing, the police shield on the back, and the metal bullets all make for a very tactile, fun edition to hold and look at closely. Fun movie too!

The Guest by Second Sight Films - I just got this edition and absolutely love it! It may not be considered a full premium by some but for the price point I think it is a really great non-steelbook collectors edition. The use of colors and simple design are right up my alley. I would take clean colors like this over too much happening on a design any day (you will see the colors more down the list so apparently I have a thing for them).

image.thumb.jpeg.186cf2b23028a3cf3460efcbb88567b4.jpeg

Number 4: Whiplash by TheOn (No. 19)

Again, this is such a clean edition. I love the music pages on the inside, the use of black and white with a splash of color. It is a beautiful edition.

image.thumb.jpeg.c92087f06538c5fbc4ed5c639ddf9715.jpeg

image.thumb.jpeg.db5a430dcafc2ce4bbcf066b45585cc2.jpeg

Number 3: The Dark Knight Trilogy by HDZeta

Not much to say here. This will always be one of my prized possessions. All three editions are matching No. 003. I love the display look of the motherbox. Thank god HDZeta doesn't do too many of these because I wouldn't be able to resist. Ready for LOTR!

image.thumb.jpeg.36d14598ab91a5d8a047bf70a023bb96.jpeg

image.thumb.jpeg.385c5093f96934de00d1354e07b96a87.jpeg

Number 2: Drive by Manta Lab

Manta Lab is king for me. I could fill this list with their editions (First Man almost took this spot). My love of this movie helped to put this here, but the jacket on this is such a beautiful homage to one of the most memorable pieces of movie attire ever. They could have just printed this on the box but they went above and beyond to make this such a memorable boxset.

image.thumb.jpeg.4b8b5341a5ceff5c7bcd81518ff51100.jpeg

Number 1: Blade Runner 2049 by UHD Club

This is like 3 editions with the same color scheme on my list - told you I have a thing for it. If nothing else this would have to win no. 1 for me because it is one of the few editions I cant bring myself to un-seal! The colors, printing, the wood box, it is all gorgeous. These pictures aren't the best because of the plastic but I can only imagine how much more the colors pop when the plastic is off and this can be opened up to reveal the full wraparound image. Hoping UHD Club makes more editions like this!

Great choices @Scary Hair

Far left field choices as I knew they would be , but very interesting

So "The Thing" is obviously one of your favourite films

BTW , never give away your age 😉

That's the whole collection game for me the LOVE of the movie itself.

The fact it has pretty slips and goodies is a bonus.

Age It's  only a number  Honey .

Mentally I'm still a toddler

My choices are:

Middle Earth Collectors Edition. I love these faux-leather books that hold the discs, and with a nice wooden stand it’s a beautiful piece that always gets noticed by visitors. Lovely art book adds a cherry on the top.

The Raid, I think this was a zavvi edition some years back. Great art complimented by some embossing for a striking look and some tactile appeal.

Interstellar Hd Zeta lenticular. Beautiful and the lenticular effect is cool.

Inglorious Bastards, the lenticular effect here doesn’t add much but I love the slipcase, and there’s a good looking steelbook with the poster art inside. It’s my favourite Tarantino film.

Gladiator, Everything Blu. I’ve bought this movie too many times, and have a very striking lenticular bluray steelbook but couldn’t resist this gorgeous edition and an upgrade to 4k.

Alright so for challenge 2 I have chosen the following,

Number 1

Rogue One by Blufans

image.thumb.jpeg.202880eb233948bc53b51a91fb0dcbba.jpeg

For me this is one of my top 3 favourite OC of all time. The all white background with the minimal design showcasing the main characters just looks great.

Number 2

Interstellar by Manta Lab

image.thumb.jpeg.6924fa4885f34d858109087c3c746caa.jpeg
This one is special for me as it was my very first OC I ever got thanks to the MP GB was it originally released last year.

Number 3

Reservoir Dogs by Novamedia

image.thumb.jpeg.0535f3cb4d7927c65868f2ec2e34ea54.jpeg
Now this was my very first premium release I ever got back in June 2020. If it wasn’t for this I’d probably never have got into collecting movie steelbooks as at the time I was mainly collecting video game steelbooks.

Number 4

Blade Runner 2049 by FAC

image.thumb.jpeg.f379fe7aef2013bf17c51104fe952bae.jpeg

Not much I can really say, a great film deserves a great release and FAC done a great job with this. All I need now is the OC but it goes for a crazy price.

Number 5

Transformers

image.thumb.jpeg.fe776fb1f4a6b6063a9010c9c4f0009c.jpeg
Now for the non-steelbook choice I decided to go with this release. I’m generally not sure where it is from as it was a Christmas gift back when I was 7 years old back in 2007, so it hold a lot sentimental value for me as I’m a huge Transformers fan and opening this on Christmas Day I was over the moon.

Cool thing about this release is that it also transforms as you can see in the below image.

And at the back is where the discs are kept.

Alright time to get in on this. My favorite lenti of all time is Nova Media guardians of the Galaxy lenti. Usually when you get a lot of lines going on a lenti they tend to look jagged and pixelated but not this one. Just take a look at the grate on the floor.

It's crispy clean like a hologram!

The video doesn't do it justice!

I had to include a shot of these 4 as well because they were all runner ups for my favorite lenticular edition. these were all very clean crispy images and artfully awesome!

Awards

Pretty tough challenge

So many priceless editions, holy grails, favourite retailers, personally & emotionally close films etc etc

This is difficult!

I guess it will boil down to the film for me, and whether or not there is a premium to do it justice!

In no particular order:

(1) TDK trilogy Hdzeta

Probably the best Hdz release. Each OC for each film was impeccable , with each edition being superb

The mother box killed it, great concept and idea, still never matched

(2) Forrest Gump OAB

One of my favourite films, and I own each premium edition

OAB

FAC Maniacs

HDzeta

UHD club

Close call between UHD (wooden) edition which was beautiful

But my fav has to the OAB edition

Beautifully crafted briefcase and goodies

The feather was a lovely touch
