well as covid was in force could not get to the cinema to see this film, which was a shame.

anyway the steel turned up the weekend. enjoyed soo much i watched a second time with the wife.

any how throw this out there i personally think this is best bond film of all time and the bond film they should have always made, love the pace drive storyline of the film, stunts are superb.

if a premium of this comes out i WILL have to own it.

sure others will disagree with have written but they are wrong xD

Titane

A tale as old as time. A young girl gets into terrible car accident. Grows up, becomes a model / exotic dancer / serial killer. She has a passionate one night stand with a car and becomes pregnant.

I loved this movie. It’s not for everyone, it’s uncomfortable and hard to watch at times. I guess that’s the way I like them.

I went to the cinema yesterday to see Matrix Resurrections... I guess "Matrix Rehash" (if you want to go with an R), "Matrix Dead on Arrival" or "Matrix Biggest Movie Disappointment of the Year" would be more appropriate.

Honestly WHY did they have to make this movie 😭

To prepare for this event I watched The Matrix again on the 25th and it proved again why it was such a game changer back in 1999. An absolute Masterpiece that got everything right from start to finish. Fantastic mind bending story, with amazing cast and characters, awesome effects and design and some of the greatest and most innovative action sequences ever created. No wonder it is in my Top 10 favorite movies and stands among the higest voted movies everywhere. I remember very well how blown away I was back in 1999 when I went to the first showing and I still am when watching again.

Sure the sequels could not live up to the first one, but 2 still delivered a great action movie, unfortunately 3 already had plenty of not so good stuff in it, but is still watchable and at least wrapped up the story even when it was in a rather disappointing way.

And then we get to the new one 😱. OMG how bad can it get..... I have the answer for you REALLY BAD. From the first second I knew something is wrong with this movie and really soon you simply hope that it will end soon, which it doesn't because it is running for 2 and a half hours 🙄. From start to finish they give you one bad thing after another. The new characters are all horrible, the old ones feel out of place or are changed in a way that simply makes it silly. The Story if you can even call it that is a revision of things that came before but in the worst possible way imaginable. The Action is an absolute let down, most action is thrown at you at random intervals only to have some action in the movie and it is so lame you want to scream at the screen. Really no wow moment at all. Also the movie is so BORING it starts to hurt.

In the original every scene had a purpose and brought the story forward, no waisted dialogue in that one, but in the new movie you could skip almost everything as it does not add much at all.

The acting was also not good with Neil Patrick Harris delivering one of the worst performances you could think of and that new Smith 😱 not even 1% of the charisma of Hugo Weaving. Even Keanu felt like he only came to Set for the paycheck.

It is very sad to see Studios return to their greatest hits and only do a sequel because they want to make more money, clearly that will not pay off with this one as the box office numbers already show.

Really not sure on what trip Wachowski was when coming up with this mess of a movie but it must have been a bad one.

Anyway I could continue my rant for a long time but what is the point in that. Compared to the original I would give this one 1 Point as it is basically not worth watching, if I put my anger aside a little and objectively rate it I guess you could give it 5 points (which I did and which would mean 1 time watch and never again).

3 days ago when the Steelbooks for this movie went live I ordered all 3 different Steelbooks, but I certainly don't feel like I need to own any of them. I think I will cancel 2 and only keep 1 4K Steelbook, to put in somewhere in the back of a shelf. I don't have the need for any Premiums of this garbage and I just hope the Retailer I collect don't do it.

Sorry to write such a downer review maybe I should have written one about Spider-Man: No Way Home which really showed how a good movie is being made and absolutely deserves the title of Best Movie of the year.

Supongo que "Matrix Rehash" (si quieres ir con una R), "Matrix Dead on Arrival" o "Matrix Biggest Movie Disappointment of the Year" sería más apropiado .

You just confirmed all my suspicions about the movie. In that case, I guess I'll never see her. I want to try to keep the good memory of the original intact.

I'm sorry you had to go through that bad drink at the movie theater.😔

@extantsrevenge nils thank you for writing such an honest and frank review, i would always rather have the truth.

from what i read around on a few forums every person said the first half hour was sort of ok if you could call it that and then no one could work out where the story went from there and these where from all steelbook collectors.

people are always honest where critics i never fully trust, they can get it so wrong sometimes.

so for me your review means im now off to get rid of my pre-order and i thank you for that.

what a shame its turned out to be the hot mess everyone is talking about.

i always thought not having laurence fishburne and hugo was a huge mistake and bringing in new alternatives was stupid everyone ages if neo does so does everyone else think it was about them saving money and a suicidal mistake.

and also part of me wonders hom much of the script and actors where changed by the studio, we all know how warner loves to interfere with things.

@Scary Hair ann read up girl im off to cancel ☝️

Still need to see.

Spencer, nightmare alley, licorice pizza, and last night in Soho. But I gotta say that I just watched power of the dog like two weeks ago and it is easily going to make top five for me along with the night house, the last duel, and old henry. But if you haven't seen power of the dog you should check it out, I think it will win best picture.

🥤🤠 Nils I enjoyed your thorough review, however one of my fav guys on letterboxed gave The Matrix Resurrections 4 ️ So I’ll need to see this for myself! 🎥

His words resonated with me here:

Quote

The 2021 film, The Matrix Resurrections, which brings the lead franchise players, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, back to the fold in the hands of Lana Wachowski, is another lesser installment that lacks the dynamic grab of the iconic 1999 original, but it does deliver a flash of brilliance simply by way of a self-aware acknowledgment that the revolution started by that first movie is now a tyranny. I like the idea that the artificial intelligence machine creators of the titular “matrix”, a computer simulation virtual environment intended to coddle humans into unknowing subservience, have actually incorporated the story of Neo and Trinity, played respectively by Reeves and Moss, into their program. This new movie beats critics to the punch by examining, in a meta sense, the drab monotony of cash-grab sequels.

Like its predecessors, this film poses more questions than it answers, doing nothing to demystify its cloyingly nebulous astrology horoscope mythology of “The One.” To its credit, however, it rightfully resigns itself to the notion that machines and artificial intelligence are here to stay in real life, and that we should find solace in working together with them. Even with the ever-present technology around us, we as individuals still hold the power to better our world and paint the sky with rainbows. This one may lack the revolutionary spark of the classic first movie, instead falling in line with the subsequent clones, but it at least manages to bring a trace of subversiveness to the table. A matrix steak still has the flavor of a real steak from time to time.

It's certainly shocking, uncomfortable, not for all audiences, but, at the same time, interesting.

I watched it in the cinema thinking that it was going to be more like "Raw", the previous Ducournau film, but obviously I was wrong.

Of those movies that sometimes unsettle you, others make you hate it, but in the end, it always intrigues you.

For me, seeing a film like this is always interesting.

PD: I'm also waiting to see "Licorice Pizza" here in January. ;)

Poster-House-of-Gucci-Twitter-@HouseofGu

A good night at the movies yesterday.

I really liked the movie, I found it very entertaining, and really well done.

In a way, it reminded me "The Irishman", by Scorsese, telling a true generational story, with competition, betrayals, crimes, family, and, above all, masterful performances; but at a much more pop rhythm, less solemn, in a fresher Scott style.

The performances of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver are impressive; Al Pacino shines as he knows how to take care of small details like a jeweler; and Jared Leto does a brilliant performance and characterization.

The staging, and even the reflection of what those years in Milan and New York were like; the music, the light, the script. Everything is very careful.

It shows precisely what they announce in the first scene: people who don't fight for land, or for another things, but for their own skin.

For me is a very good movie. I enjoyed it a lot.

Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch

Not my favorite Wes Anderson effort, but it does have its moments of comedic genius. As always Wes pulls great performances from his cast. The film is split into 3 chapters, the first segment with Benicio Del Toro is the clear winner in my opinion. Over all it was enjoyable, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was just a extension of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Maybe it was the odd aspect ratio, or just the tone of the the film.

My top 3 Wes Anderson picks

1. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
2. The Fantastic Mr. Fox

3. Moonrise Kingdom
