I'm a fan of Ron Howard, he has one directorial note that he plays, but he plays it pretty well:  Ransom, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man, Frost/Nixon, Backdraft, Apollo 13 . . . nothing genius, but all solid efforts imho.

Been looking around at the many other titles coming out in this series.  Definitely a missed opportunity.  100 years . . . ONE HUNDRED YEARS . . . deserves a definitive series, in my opinion, instead they choose about the minimal effort one could make.

I have all those tin box Disney Treasures. As @Gary K pointed out, those have much more class and character to them.  I bought them way way back before I discovered MP, when I was just collecting content and not content and packaging, lots of "vault" level stuff in that series.  

It would have been amazing if they would have continued on that line, and created a library of vaulted and released content on bluray with premium packaging outlining each decade of the 100 years.  A curated historic set of a variety of content that tells the story of Disney.  

It is not surprising they just gave us movies in bland steels, but still disappointing.

I hope you had a fantastic day yesterday.  We actually have the larger family arriving today.  So all the cousins etc will have the big meal and gifts.  Waiting until after breakfast is a big deal, I respect that, but waiting a whole day is like Nobel peace prize worthy.

Is that like a linen texture or more of a tight woven?  I love how the inside stuff is more cream than stark black and white.  Very nice details there.

That's some sweet action right there.  It includes Battletoads, yes?  We have a game night every other Wednesday, mostly we play board games, but my buddy has been adding arcade games.  We've been playing the 3 in 1 Street Fighter from Arcade1Up a bunch.  This one is on another level, though.  He wants this one very badly.  Congrats.  Any game that requires an anti-fatigue mat is no joke.  I want to stand on one of those all the time no matter what I'm doing.

as for trailer cutting, I totally agree and from what I also know they are basically working in a quicksand of dailies with no knowledge of what the final product might end up being other than what the above the line Peeps tell them.   
 

I say in the age of IMDB, Letterboxd and rotten tomatoes - sympathy for the trailer  and caveat emptor.   I mean I can’t count the times I rented a movie as a kid baddd in cover art or cast only to be bitterly disappointed.  That’s part of the joy of film discovery though and how I learned to peek beneath the hood if I could.

Ultimately I don’t think these are the kind of damages unfair trade and false advertising laws are meant to address.  

It is an interesting line that is constantly being challenged and moved.   Disney lawyers shut me down on a co-op commercial with a retailer in the middle of the day because of concerns over misrepresentation of an unfinished product we only had mock-ups of.  

Your response and knowledge is greatly appreciated and frames it all very well.  I’m curious where this ends up.  
 

Trailer cutting is a brutal career.  Short time frames, aggressive studio marketing battling the above the line creatives, the margin of error is much smaller than people realize.  And seriously, those people are in those pitch dark suites making changes 16 hours a day.
