So, I got my Blufans TDKR box set yesterday.
Here are some pics of the Blufans Trilogy and of the HDz Trilogy. I don’t have any of the HDz DLs outside of the sealed box sets, but I do have a set of the Special Packs that I keep the 4K discs in. Hopefully other members will be able to provide better comparisons between the two sets of DLs.
I took some pics of the HDz set including the Motherbox. I haven’t looked at it for quite a while. It really is the most beautiful of sets when complete with the Motherbox. Nothing else to date gets anywhere near it in my opinion. Plus, of course, the matching #. Note also the symmetry of Gold Label and DC stickers. It’s the little details….Anyway, without further ado,
I'm prob in the minority, but I don't think the BF TDKR fits. That black and white high contrasty thing just feels out of place to me. Much prefer the HDZ as a set.

A Brighter Summer Day, NE #20, FS B, Bluray:

Very nice. The Grey box was gone by the time I placed my order. Glad you got one.
I don't love the movie Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, but I like that lenti and was curious about how deep was. It was in and out of my cart, but finally ended up not getting it.

I do however love to dance and of course, a few beers, maybe a cheeky rum and coke along with your favourite tunes always steers me in that direction. Although again, in my case it is a “merry” home kitchen disco and never in a Drunken club. You realize of course that we're going to unleash an MP digital flash mob on you until you give us a video of the Home Kitchen Disco routine.

I think it's just a single steel
You’re prob right. Wishful thinking. I got my HG set for $65 with four steels. -
I'm curious what this is going to look like. From the price my guess is the tin box, the style of Mad Max, or Hunger Games?

It's funny you say that because I was thinking how I don't own any steels with bullet holes. Or maybe I should check. 😆
Ha! You need one buddy, everyone has to have one!
Yeah, there aren't actually that many, but, it seems gimmicky to me now after it was used once or twice. Maybe "played out" isn't the right wording.
One release, I can't remember which (MAG?), has the bullet hole in an acrylic case IIRC. That was pretty cool.

Well, first and foremost I hope everyone of my new friends feels supported in whatever stage of recovery you are in. Know that you have a new fan over here who is rooting for you. I don't have those experiences myself, but I have been through several interventions and spent much time in Al-Anon in support of family and friends that do face those challenges.
I also felt incredibly privileged to be invited to make a short film about a farm in North Carolina that functions as an addictions recovery program. I lived with those guys and shot for 3 days. It was intense and beyond humbling hearing and sharing their stories.
Wow, 24 hours in, and this club is already raising important questions, building community, and challenging our assumptions about what film should do, can do, and how it should do it. Goal achieved. Vinterberg and his cinema of the ethically/morally ambiguous would be quite pleased, I'm sure. I've found that we tend to ask more questions of ourselves when we are made to feel uncomfortable than we do when an overly simplified answer is handed to us in the final frames.
That said, I could f'in use a Will Ferrell man-boy schtick movie and a frozen pizza tonight.

Finished my rewatch of Another Round tonight and it was just how I remembered it, it did nothing for me except I like some of the music. To me this was a story on how pathetic your life can become down that alcoholic road. I gave it 2 stars in my 2023: Track the Movies you watch thread! 😉
Thanks for rewatching buddy. Appreciate the thoughts. The Meters are fantastic and Sissy Strut is too funky to be stopped. I think it was a bit of an obvious choice, they could have gone a bit deeper in The Meters catalog, but it still was fun.

Eventually 😉. I need some time to give it a think.
Most of the issues arose in the third act. I'm currently examining not only the film but also myself and how I approach film in general. I have a seed of a thought about a trend I'm picking up in myself and I'm fleshing it out. Then I'll decide if I like that about myself (are my demands and expectations appropriate or are they limiting?).
I'm out of reactions, so here you go . . .

Just finished it.
I'm honestly struggling to process. It was an enjoyable film but I'm having a hard time figuring out what the director was going for in that there are many contradictory ideas here - but maybe that's the point. I'm going to to have to think on it a bit. I'm curious as to what you all think and come up with.
Just for context: I'm coming off of my first viewing of Chungking Express (my first WKW film) and admittedly this seems like a step down. I'm sure this is affecting my opinion on this one.
Yeah, I would agree with you, Chungking Express is def a step above Another Round. It would have affected me too, the way the Vinterberg landed, if I would have watched the WKW first. (Wait until you see In The Mood For Love, that's another level up, imho)
Can you say a bit more about the contradictions you experienced with Another Round?

@BreakBeatDJ has laid the perfect foundation for other members to build upon. Congratulations on starting this off with a bang. Also thank you for listing all mediums that this is available.
I am going into this one completely blind. Awesome pick.
I did think a lot about how to set up the slug line for the entry so it would be clear, but also be on one line.
I'm hoping that 5 years from now there is a huge long list and this is still going. So, getting it all on one line seems like a good idea.
By using bolds/caps and ordering things the way I did, it's easy to read, clear, and fairly easy to scan, without wasting space for labels, like YEAR, TITLE, etc. We could probably loose dir. for director, as I think that is also obvious.
If it's helpful it could be used as somewhat of a template for future entries. If someone else has a better way to do it, all good, feel free to take what is useful and get rid of what isn't, or disregard altogether.

WELCOME!! all my friends and fellow Psychos for the initial drop of the first film of 2023 in this wonderful movie club created by everyone's favorite member @Reagh!
It is indeed my honor to launch us in to 2023 (and sheer luck aDrip, Basil or BoilerSteel didn't join).
#001 01/05/23 DRUK (ANOTHER ROUND) 2020 dir. Thomas Vinterberg : brought to you by @BreakBeatDJ STREAMING HULU
Vinterberg released Another Round in 2020, 50 years after the great John Cassavetes released his seminal art film about three good friends struggling with midlife crises, Husbands (1970). But, this is no reboot. It's the Dogme '95 founder's 21st century take on the complexities of revitalizing life in middle age.
I saw the Dogme '95 films at the Angelika as they were released in the late 90s, and was caught up in the movement of Van Trier, Harmony Korine and Vinterberg back then. And, with this being a Cassavetes homage, it sorta hits the sweet spot.
Good friends drinking, dancing, trying to do the right thing, making fools of themselves . . . sounds like a good place for this club to start off, aye? Enjoy.

I just email him. He’s actually pretty much a one man shop so it’s likely he just doesn’t have time to check in on Reddit that often. He’s replied to my emails pretty consistently though.
Got it. Thanks Gary.

I really should check Reddit once in a while —- ever.
Jesse posts there occasionally. But he never follows up with answers to questions. I'm sure they have someone in the office just making announcements over there.

Yeah, I hope those here who wanted one got one.
I had been refreshing Diabolik regularly since he announced on Reddit he'd be getting the Turbine Frighteners, was thrilled to be able to add Blade Runner to the order.

I try very hard not to be a double dipper so I have to choose. Hoping if the ML happens, it beats both.
