Hi there @Squeegie McGee😀

Hmm, 16 gauge seems pretty light but if it's giving you stellar sound, that's all that matters.

I'm actually running 10 gauge to all speakers and though yes, it's like nailing an anaconda to a box, with banana plugs it works out quite well.

I only use 14 gauge for my centre channel though, as the connections are stupid and I needed to horn-swaggle a set-up that didn't interfere with placement.

Hi there @CAYENNE-FAHRER😀

Thanks much for once again bringing obscure items to our attention my friend!

I have the NA Steel of Promare and also the CE that I sent my Girls.

The art on that German Blu Steel is pretty sweet but I don't think I'll triple dip at this point.

Thanks though, for your assistance again Buddy!

@Grendel hmmm... when i researched what gauge to use years ago, it was suggested to use 16 gauge wiring... I'll need to research it again as a refresher

Hmm, I have 4 different editions (well, 3, sent one to my Girls) of Elfen Lied, so I think it's safe for me to pass on this one @CAYENNE-FAHRER but again, thanks so much for your efforts Buddy! ☺️

It's an incredible show that was sadly, cut short but one I would still recommend to anyone that enjoys the bizarre mind twists that sci-fi can bring us. 😍

Hi @Squeegie McGee🙂

I suppose it's been debated for decades whether or not more wire = better wiring.

There are certainly those that posit, that if the signal is delivered without interference, mission accomplished.

Others take it a bit to the extreme, suggesting that $100+ cables and wires are necessary to deliver a fully enriched sound.

I personally fall into the middle-camp, with the opinion that quality wiring and quality connections are very important but the need to purchase oxygen-free pure copper 10 gauge (or larger) cables with gold plated direct connections, are a bit more extreme than required.

Of course, there are those with $100K plus stereo set-ups that I sometimes think follow this mindset to justify their own expenditures but I also believe there is truth to the adage..."garbage in = garbage out", heh.

I use the cables and for that matter the electrical connections I do, simply because I can afford it. I have an audio (+ video) system that falls in the approx $25K range so I'm not going to skimp on any connector aspects of it.

My equipment interconnects average $50-$100 a set (Monster, Cardas, Audioquest) however speaker wire runs are more dependent on;

- length of run between amp and speaker

- ohmage of speakers, and

- wattage of speakers.

For example, a subwoofer benefits more from a thicker cable than a centre-channel speaker. Similarly, a 4 ohm impedance speaker that expects a 500+ watt amp to drive it does better with thicker wires than an 8 ohm speaker requiring only about 200 watts.

It can of course, get a bit silly in the long game and I doubt that some of the claims extolled on very expensive wires and cables can be justified, until one starts getting into the $100K plus market for speakers and equipment.

I'm not there nor doubt I ever will be, so I think it's sufficient to have good quality wires all around with the consideration that it takes a bit more oomph to power a large speaker than it does a desk lamp bulb. 😉

Cheers!

Thanks for posting this @extantsrevenge. I was just coming on here now to do the very same!  🤩

If anyone would prefer to deal with "Shout Factory" as opposed to RightStuf, here's the links;  (same prices / same stats)

Both sets are Region - A discs.

Collector's Edition: ($175 Usd)

https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/neon-genesis-evangelion-the-complete-series-limited-collector-s-edition?product_id=7724

Standard Edition: ($48 Usd)

https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/neon-genesis-evangelion-the-complete-series?product_id=7702

NOTE:  Please note that this Standard Edition does not include the Bonus Classic Dub and Subtitled Versions featured on the Ultimate and Collector’s Edition.

I've ordered 2 Standard Eds myself, one for my Girls, and one for me (back-up 😉)

@LeGonze, if you are still feeling compelled to purchase a CE, this one looks pretty dang sweet!  😍

Thanks guuuys!! :x

I also got an email notification from RSA this mornig... xD

I'm actually thinking of buying the Ultimate Edition from AtA... And buying the Standard Edition from RSA to swap discs... Definitely more expensive but I think it's worth it... xD  I still can't believe the US version went OOS in a few hours!!... :(😭

Do you know if AtA ships to the US?? 9_9

This CE looks nice but waaaaaay less appealing to me speacially at that price, $175.00

Hi @LeGonze🙂

Shipping the UE of NGE from AtA for me (Canada) was 25 GBP. I suspect that to Mexico, it will be virtually the same.

Not cheap, but it is a pretty large arsed box, so not totally unexpected.

edit: also, if you end up getting both the UE and the Standard eds, no real sense in swapping out the discs buddy.

Use the Standard ed for normal viewing (far more convenient than opening that large arsed box every time) and just keep the UE as a nice displayed collector's piece. 😉

Hi my buddy @Squeegie McGee🙂

Certainly no flak to toss, it's not a series that has seen much exposure lately, until now...

It's from the '90s and essentially is a giant mech fights kaiju show with significant character introspection and to a degree, contentious development.

However, it was the seminal inspiration for the deluge of similar type shows that followed and there were a LOT that followed.

If I were to pigeon-hole one that bears strong semblance that you may be in fact aware of, I'd suggest "Darling In the FranXX" comes closest.

Is it worth your time and effort to pick up?

I'd definitely say yes, as it is a corner-stone to not just the mech genre but to a lot of anime of many type that followed.

You will find yourself frustrated with the main protag, as he is by no means a "Mary Sue" and in fact is quite pathetic for the first half of the series.

Fortunately, he's not the only key character and if ya like strong women, this show has ones that rebuilt the damn mold.

Probably the series that has more discussion points surrounding it than the next 10 put together, you are in fact purchasing a piece of Anime History.

Now, whether or not you should consider the CE over the Standard ed, well, I strongly suggest reading some of the posts above to assist with that decision.

Personally, I purchased the LE (from AtA, so the UK Region-B release) and 2 copies of the Standard. One for my Girls and one for me as casual viewing back-up.

As for the Steels you seek, Anime On Line (UK) has Samurai Champloo still available;

Link: ( note: Region B : 37 GBP)

https://www.anime-on-line.com/Samurai-Champloo/30554-samurai-champloo-collection-steelbook-15-blu-ray.html

Cowboy Bebop I'm afraid is sold out at most regular distributors but possibly you could get a deal on E-Bay?

Cheers my friend.  🙂

edit: just checked Amazon.uk and they have Samurai Champloo steel for 27 GBP Buddy!

I’d never seen NGE before either so I purchased a used set of dvds of eBay for about £80 and I’m loving it so far. Still debating whether I need the blu ray in standard or collectors edition, I have the adv dubs/subs and soundtrack on the dvd so I might plump for the standard edition with just the newer Netflix subs/dubs. Also, the set came with the films “death and rebirth “ as well as “end of evangelion“, am I right in assuming the first two are recaps and the other is the new ending?

Also managed to snag the samurai champloo steelbook for £15 in the Zavvi sale but it’s sold out now, I went back to get the bunny girl senpai ce too but that had sold out too unfortunately so I might just get the standard edition, I watched the first episode on Netflix and like it so far.

Good Afternoon @Mattrivers95🙂

Sorry I'm late responding. Without a flag, your post went unnoticed.

I'm happy to hear you were able to view NGE prior to plunking down cash for the new releases. It can certainly help in the decision making process of which ed to purchase.

I'm of the opinion you will probably be satisfied with the Standard ed however only you are in a position to judge, my friend.

As to your queries;

"Death(True)2" is a real mix-mash of edits and re-edits of the series and was essentially provided as a re-cap.

"Rebirth" was essentially a, "preview' of "End of Evangelion" which extends the final story into a proper fleshed out episode, to assuage the anger of some fans with the way the original show ended.

Neither "Death" nor "Rebirth" I would consider essential but "End of" I suggest, is.  😉

Hi thanks for responding. I’ve just finished watching it all all including rebirth. I can see why that ending was controversial, it’s very abstract isn’t it? I enjoyed rebirth quite a bit more but my dvd presents it in a windowed mode so I’m keen to watch it again on Blu ray. I’ve opted for the ce blu ray as this contains the adv dub/subs, I’m not too keen on the Netflix versions and I’ve grown quite attached already to the old voice actors. I’m now watching the rebuild series on Amazon and enjoying that too, once that’s finished I’ll watch both again with subtitles.

I’ve heard so much about this over the years, I really hope ATA pick it up for distribution over here, aren’t gkids doing this for North America? If so it’ll be shout factory doing the blu ray and they region lock everything, although I could just use my computer I suppose. Also, Italy are getting a lovely box set of this but I can’t find the link.

I always really liked the Japanese Boxset

I can't bring myself to switch discs or anything on an edition 😅. All has to be the original parts.
