Question : does this challenge works with video games adaptation, video game to movie, or movie to video game ?

18 minutes ago, Reagh said:

For my part …. I would say that is a adaptation and think it would count.

I’m sorry so many are having a hard time with this challenge. I honestly didn’t see this happening.

My issue is I’ve been exclusively on my kindle for 12 years or so and moved several times in that period so no longer have many actual books.

I think I found some things to satisfy the challenge though.

CHALLENGE 22 :

Not an easy challenge for me, I don’t have books (just a few), my years of study have literally put me off reading.

I did my best, I hope it can be considered as adaptations, even if some are very free ones.

Attack On Titan :

I think this is the best I can do. I did some digging and found a copy of Alice in Wonderland that I didn’t remember I had. Couldn’t find my copy of LOTR though.

My favorite adaption is either Shawshank Redemption or Alice. It seems like there’s few times when the movie is better than the book (or short story), but Shawashank Redemption is definitely better than the Stephen King story. Alice is such a unique movie and interpretation of the source material. Jan Svankmeyer (sp) is amazing.

Fun Thank You GIF by Drawify

for showing your great stuff 🙏

Awesome @Fortis93

I could have shown more too 😂

@Gentleman I was waiting for that one

Terrific @cypheria078 Attack on Titan is awesome and the anime adaptation is so faithful, you get basically every panel from the Manga and often line for line of the text. What makes the Anime even better than the Manga is the Animations, the art from Hajime Isayama is the one weakness the Manga has.

Your entry brings back memories, I played the original Doom 1 & 2 and the early Mortal Kombat games so much when I was young. On Mortal Kombat 2 I could do every single move in my sleep.

finish-him-fatality.gif

@Mrdugan 🤔 The Dark Knight is not an Adaptaion of The Dark Knight Returns 😅 the only thing similar is that the movie is using parts of the title and that the Joker appears 😂. There is actually an Animation 2 Part Adaptaion of the Comic and the fight between Batman & Superman in BvS is clearly inspired by this story. I gave you the point but I wish you had one more title to show.

Everyone

So here’s a few that I have… I want to say, if anyone needs an amazing book to read - Live by Night is outstanding. Film does not do it Justice. Should’ve been a two part film…

I tried adding some unique ones (Vampire Hunter, Red Sparrow…) and the easier ones (Bourne, Hannibal, Tattoo, IT…)

LA Confidential is pure perfection.

I couldn’t find my book of Perks nor the Blu-ray for Motherless Brooklyn - but I love both books and films - so sue me.

Seriously, read Live by Night… one of my favs. Was so good he wrote a sequel.

challenge#22

1. Lord of the Rings

2. Tintin

3. Millennium Trilogy

4. The Ruins

...and just because I love these movies, I also bought a book later:

5. Indiana Jones

My favourite (despite of all the other great adaptations!) would be Tintin!

I loved the comics as a kid and grew up with them.

They are still amazing and the television adaptation is just fun to watch - never boring!

And I all read and watched them in French. ;)

Challenge 21 - ADAPTATIONS

So here are the four I could find.  As I wrote above, while I’m an avid reader, for the past 14 years or so (which is about the same time my eyes started going) I’ve been reading almost exclusively on the Kindle so I have very few physical books in my collection anymore.  I did, however, hold onto two of my favorite graphic novels, a random Harry Potter and the newly acquired graphic novel adaptation of Parasite.

B4DB0616-EB76-4D0F-A0F9-7DCDF381E56A.thumb.jpeg.0b6c8522c1294cf058d9ef7ca8350cda.jpeg

My favorite book to film adaptation though has to be Silence Of The Lambs.  Thomas Harris’ original is a fantastic page turner and thriller and the film is simultaneously faithful and original in its’ own right.  Of course, close runner ups would be Jaws, The Exorcist, and The Social Network

Challenge 22:

Thanks @Reagh for the unique challenge.  Most difficult part for me was digging through boxes to find the books.

1. The Godfather

2. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

3. LOTR FOTR

4. Casino Royale

20230225_192756.thumb.jpg.20dbd91384e2201171bc11f9fe355f67.jpg

Favorite adaptation is LOTR. They put so many incredible details into every scene and really brought the books to life.  It's almost impossible not to picture the movies when reading the books now.

Challenge #022

Adaptation

For this challenge we would like to know what some of your favorite adaptations are. You will need to show  Movies or Television Series and the source material. Have fun with it, if the movie came before the book or comic it would still count since it’s still a adaptation. All mediums are allowed, books, mangas, comics, graphic novels etc. The only rule is…. series only count as one. Example Harry Potter 1-7 only counts as 1.

I can’t wait to see everyone’s submissions!

Bonus : please tell everyone what your favorite adaptation is & why.

im back baby GIF

1) Spider-Man

Not exactly an adaptation, as in translating a specific story, but by the authority invested in me, I'll allow it. It's also my favorite of the 4 submissions!

2) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy

It's too bad I don't have The Hobbit to go with this, but it's not as good anyway. LOTR Trilogy is a masterpiece, and I can't wait for my HDZeta Golds!

3) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Now the only reason I chose this one over the first movie/book is that I'm too lazy to dig any further into my pile of books 😴 Plus the lenti is cool!

20230225_230638.thumb.jpg.403a38884da01427f6c823197c1cb4ab.jpg

4) Star Trek: The Motion Picture

I'm sure @extantsrevenge will get a kick out of this one!

WEEKLY CHALLENGE #23

BEST OF THE BEST

630cc8b83920d8fec78a2919680cdf660080ba53

For this challenge, you are to pick your favourite genre of film.

Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Horror, Musical, Romance, Sci-Fi, Thriller, War, Western, etc.

You are then to choose your top 5 favourite films from that genre, or films you feel represent the best of what that genre has to offer.

Any editions (Fullslips, Lenticulars, Steelbooks etc.) across any formats (DVD, Blu-ray, 4K, etc.) are welcome.

And finally, name the film that made you fall in love with that genre.

I'll go ahead and kick this off with my own submission.

My favourite film genre is Action/Adventure.

And my five favourite films from that genre are the following:

1. Die Hard

2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

3. Predator

4. Aliens

5. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

20230224_013450.thumb.jpg.a6dd93d4f199cb672b0220407fcc2590.jpg

And the film that made me fall in love with the Action/Adventure genre would have to be The Spy Who Loved Me when I first saw it on TV as a kid.

20230224_014246.thumb.jpg.b7a696a3102c6d9d8535ef765a78fca6.jpg

For me, it's not just one of the best Bond films of all time, but one of the great action adventure movies of all time.

Thank you @Fortis93 for this great challenge.

My favorite genre would be Sci-Fi, I love Space and I love futuristic setting. The Genre has limitless possibilities and lets us experience stuff we will most likely never have the chance to experience ourselves. I simply love to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations.

d0d0ee7b-da30-4231-8d55-994d7e6ff4cf_tex

My second favorite Genre would be Fantasy.

For my picture I choose to go with Live Action Space Sci-Fi, could have shown so many great Anime, or Earth based Live Action Sci-Fi, but I think these show perfectly what I love about the Genre.

I included the Original Star Trek TV Series as that would be what made me fall in love with Sci-Fi in the first place. I simply love Star Trek.

Then we have the Original Star Wars Trilogy, which includes my Number 1 & 2 favorite movies.

Also shown Alien which gave us the greatest movie creature of all time and also delivered the best Action movie ever with Aliens.

Dune and Starship Troopers are perfect Sci-Fi movies from great books.

And finally I also included Avatar as it is clearly the biggest Sci-Fi movie in recent memory, still disappointed that the second movie could not deliver as I hoped it would.

@Fortis93 this one’s right up my alley 👍

Although I really love spy thrillers and movies about serial killers, I have to go with gangster films as my favourite genre.

The Godfather

Once Upon A Time In America

The Untouchables

Goodfellas

Miller’s Crossing

image.jpeg

The Untouchables is the movie that sealed the deal for me as it’s probably my fondest memory I have of going to the movies with my dad, who also loves gangster movies.

My 13yr old self was totally in awe from the moment the opening titles rolled to the sound of Morricone’s unforgettable theme (how that score didn’t win an Oscar is beyond me) and I was forever under the spell of La Cosa Nostra and its various, nefarious affiliates.

A great memory of a great movie.

I was also 13 when I first saw that on TV.

As soon as it finished, I remember turning to my mum and asking if I could get the DVD. 😄

WEEKLY CHALLENGE #23

BEST OF THE BEST

I bet you can not figure out my fav genre , huh 😂 😆 😛

When I was a wee lad I was mesmerized by what I was watching on the boobtube … the gunfights, the masked man with his sidekick, the beautiful women and landscapes… just kept me interested till this day❣️

My fav genre is the mighty WESTERNS 🤠

image.jpeg.6b5ca09b12d9f3ec9ba67bcaa79063ff.jpeg

The Lone Ranger/The Big Valley TV shows got me started along with what in our area was called Coffee Cup theatre that had many Westerns shows through the week 📺

- Hang ‘Em High

- Jesse James (1939)

- The Lone Ranger (TV)
