  1. @extantsrevenge the boxset is Solid Metal Nightmares - the films of Shinya Tsukamoto with Tetsuo and Tetsuo 2 being the sci-fi films. I had only intended that box to count as 1. Attached are 2 make-up movies, Electric Dragon 80,000 v which I pulled because in my catalogue system it is near Tsukamoto and Stargate which I recently got in the mail. Let me know if you need others because…
  2. Here is my smattering of movies and media. Tried my best to limit 1 movie per director but the Star Wars laser discs are all in 1 boxset so may as well break them all out.
  3. Challenge 38 - "Are you excited yet?" My most anticipated movies are Dune 2 (already have tickets for opening night), Furiosa, Deadpool 3, Joker, Godzilla x Kong, Aliens entry and spiderverse (if thats still scheduled to come out in 2024), but I'll go with some wild card selections: Bob Marley One Love - I'm a huge Bob Marley fan so I am really looking forward to this biopic. I dont know what premium retailer would be a good fit for this release. Maybe Mondo would make a good steelbook but it would be nice to have a booklet and extras with the release so I'll say Arrow. I would honestly be very happy with anything beyond a barebones 4K release. Mickey 17 - Bong Joon Ho directing, staring Robert Pattinson, curious to see what is coming from Bong Joon Ho after Parasite. I dont think he has directed a bad movie so I am sure I will at least like this entry. I expect this to be a Criterion release. Nosferatu - another movie I'm excited for based off the director, in this case Robert Eggers. The "trailer" I posted is a fan-made trailer and the release is scheduled for I think Christmas Day. This is another Arrow entry or Second Sight, anything but a bare-bones release like The Northman. I would like to see all of these movies in the theatre but Nosferatu is the one I would most like to see in theatres.
  4. Here’s my submission - Arrival WeeT - Love the steel, love the slip, love the movie. This release did bump out Predator which is a top 10 movie for me but I think being completely subjective, this is a better release. EEAAO NM - gorgeous release and I’m happy I went with this one over ML which is not bad by any means. My love of the movie probably bumps it up a little. I think if I had my ML Barbie in hand that release could’ve replaced this one. The Thing CineMuseum - top 3 movie for me so any premium is basically a lock for my best of list. But it’s still a nice release.
  5. Both Group Buys are open. Just signed up for both myself.
  6. Here is my submission for 2nd stage. Won’t be able to complete a 3rd stage whenever that happens as this is maxing it out for me. I usually cull the collection and am not much of a 1-click collector. 1. The Thing - this is one movie I would never sell any version of. I’m not a completionist and I’m not going to go out and hunt down the steels I’m missing but I will pick them up if I happen to find them. 2. Predator - those fac releases are what put me over for this award. 3, 4, 5 - Star Wars OG trilogy - the jewel in my collection would be the Creators Era cases with custom steels from Chrome Custom Steelbooks on IG. Prior to the 4K steels being announced I had resolved to never buy the OG trilogy again until it’s released in its original form. I want Han to shoot first. I want Yub Nub. I don’t want that bull**** they have nowadays. Included are a couple VHS copies, laserdisc and miscellaneous DVD and bluray versions. Ah poop! That reminds me, I have The Thing on laserdisc and forgot to include it! Guess I’m going to have to fine Predator on LD too.
  7. Awwww yeah! New challenges! Thanks @extantsrevenge Here are my top 3 - I feel like 2023 recap needs to include Prey and Oppenheimer. At least in the US both of these sold out real fast and people were/are scalping them for absurd prices. Prey got a repress but not sure if it’s still available or back to expensive prices. Oppenheimer is still expensive. Lawrence of Arabia was similar and is a downright meme but I think that was originally released last year? I don’t remember. So my third steel is Guardians which I thought was a great movie and an awesome looking steel.
  8. I was thinking the same thing when I was putting together my 10. ML has made some great choices and it’s nice to get non-Marvel premiums.
  9. Do these count? I have some of NovaMedias John Woo movies. Really wish the rights to these movies was squared away and we get legit boutique releases of his filmography. The DVDs and BLUs of Hard Boiled and The Killer aren’t great, I stick to my Criterion Laser Discs of those just for the novelty and little loss of picture quality!
  10. Although not explicitly stated to be allowed, I assume laser discs are acceptable? I think shows aren’t allowed but I threw in The Ren and Stimpy show as a bonus.
  11. Horror is probably the most well-represented genre in my collection.
  12. Just squeaking in to a couple of these retailer awards.
  13. Here’s my submission. Included the OG of fantasy movies, Ray Harryhausen, and some obscure movies that have been given new life by Deaf Crocodile. Pied Piper is an animated movie in the vein of Jan Svankmeyer and Brothers Quay, if you like either of those, you should definitely check out this release. Thank you to @extantsrevenge for always organizing these and @Cornbuster for the award design.
  14. The full slip with real googly eyes seems fun but I’ll pass and be content with NM OC.
  15. Challenge 35: Family Business courtesy of @R1s1ngs0n Thank you for a fun challenge. 1. Siblings Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheens - Young Guns 2. Siblings Luke and Owen Wilson - Bottle Rocket 3. Siblings Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal - Donnie Darko 4. Parent/Child Francis Ford Coppola and Sofia Coppola - The Godfather 3 5. Spouses and my favorite Hollywood couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn- Overboard
  16. Challenge 34 - DAYS OF FUTURE PAST!!? Thanks to @jwhitm3 for this challenge. It’s always fun when you’re watching a movie that at the time was set in the future but it’s now the past. 1. X-men Days of Future Past - Starting off with the titular title, filmed in 2024 and taking place now in 2023. 2. Riki Oh - filmed 1991 and taking place in 2001. 3. Predator 2 - filmed in 1990 and taking place in 1997. The future depicted, excessively hot due to “global warming” and outlandishly violent and pervasive gang violence, seemed almost like a sure-bet at the time. For the tech, there’s plenty that I would want but as I just picked up my Hot Toys Delorean from BTTF 2, let’s just say that!
  17. I am the same way. If these were released with a much larger time difference I probably would get all of them. As the GB are all going up at the same time and already having Gold Label LOTR and Silver Label Hobbit, I really can’t justify getting them all. I’m just going to get the Godfather trilogy as I don’t have a premium already for those releases.
  18. Challenge 33: Intermission Andrei Rublev: 183 minutes Barry Lyndon: 185 minutes Fanny and Alexander: 188 minutes (theatrical version) Inland Empire: 180 minutes Kwaidan: 183 minutes I don’t think I left a movie for the restroom and missed something. I definitely need to get up to pee a lot more what with many theaters serving beer but I choose my moments carefully. I did fall asleep during The Hunt for Red October. I saw it in the theatre with my grandfather, I must’ve been 10 or so and slept through most of it as did my grandfather! We always laughed at us both falling asleep.
  19. Challenge #32: The Sticky End Thanks @Scary Hair for an interesting challenge. I selected Indiana Jones both Raiders and Temple have some fairly brutal endings. The face melting and explosion of Nazi heads is a classic. Kahli Ma’s demise in Temple of Doom, while not terribly gory, is always a favorite. Ripped apart by crocodiles…or are they alligators, is never a good way to go. Last selection is Coohagen face getting all transformed and bug-eyed in the original Total Recall. My ultimate end is from Riki Oh. Dude gets thrown into the meat grinder.
  20. Challenge 31: Did That Really Happen? Thank you @cypheria078 for this challenge. I think my favorite movie that would fall into this category would be 300. It’s an absolutely killer movie and depicts one of the most famous battles ever. Perfect job of taking real events and embellishing them. In a similar vein is Spartacus. I included Rush which is a fun movie though the relationship between Hunt and Lauda was over sensationalized for the sake of making a more compelling story. The exorcist was based off of a book which was inspired by true events and the exorcism of Roland Doe. Young Guns…Billy the Kid did exist. Not sure how much truth there is to any part of the movie though!
