Those four records were from Mondo. It looks like all but the original soundtrack are still available there, and I can't imagine the original one costs much more secondhand. Mondo records are notoriously, disappointingly, low-quality, but I think these are all right.

There was also the season two soundtrack vinyl, which was a Record Store Day selection a few years ago.

I didn't know aboiut this last vinyl. And it's so so cruel to discover it the same days that we have to pay LOTR and 2001.... 😔

But... some day... for sure. Thank you!

It's an ugly release on the outside; @ksoskis turning in his future grave. But once you get into the interior contents, it improves wonderfully. :) But it will wait for your bank account to recharge after LOTR and 2001—I'm in the same situation!

And last but certainly not least… I’m a big Trent Reznor/NIN fan, as well as a fan of David Fincher. So, naturally, I HAD to have the soundtrack for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. (Sidebar, but I absolutely love the way Fincher’s films were packaged back in the day, with digipacks and slip covers — they’re really nice pieces of physical media made all the more special because of their packaging.)

I enjoy all of these on this CD from Jacob Groth❣️

Not familiar with this one! I never did the Scandinavian adaptations… still bummed Fincher, Daniel Craig, and Rooney Mara never got to make any follow-ups to Dragon Tattoo. :(

Challenge #8

Nothing fancy for my organization. All alphabetical except for a few exceptions. Disney and Marvel both have their own sections, and I group together a few like the Tarantino and Miyazaki films.

Red: Dredd - Mondo

Orange: Blade Runner 2049 - FAC

Yellow: Evolution

Green: Robin Hood - Zavvi

Pale Blue: The Fifth Element - Novamedia

Purple: Hunchback of Notre Dame - Zavvi

Pink: Grease

I'm sorry to let you down @ethnosax , I searched the bins, but I think all my soundtracks are in the storage unit.  Yikes.   I'm ashamed to say I don't listen to them much.

I keep most of my jazz/classical/funk/hip hop in the house.  So, I'll have to make a trip to storage and find some soundtracks and put my challenge up later this week.

Thanks for juicing this thread up @ethnosax .  Thanks to @Gentleman for a fantastic challenge.

Ok - I’m almost missed this fun challenge from @Trianna!

Challenge #8

I wasn’t able to complete this challenge with premiums and my OCD won’t allow a picture of editions of various sizes so I decided to use regular steelbooks.

PqdrcMn.jpg

Red: Turning Red (Best Buy)

Orange: Hercules (Zavvi)

Yellow: Tommy Boy (FYE)

Green: Bambi (Zavvi)

Pale Blue: Airplane

Dark Blue/Purple: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Zavvi)

Pink: Mean Girls

I organize my premiums alphabetically. I recently tried organizing by retailer to avoid a mixture of different sizes next to each other but I had a hard time figuring out how to make it work with my shelving. It also didn’t alleviate the size problem (I’m looking at you Blufans 😡).

So, back to alphabetical until I can figure out something else.

Challenge 9: "Don't stop the music". 🎹 🎶

In the Challenges so far, we've mainly focused on all kinds of editions for movies. This time we want to highlight an important aspect that can make a movie so much more memorable - the Soundtrack. Music is an integral part of any Movie experience and many of them have amazing soundtracks/scores. Sometimes the soundtrack has become even more famous or successful than the movie itself. Therefore, the upcoming challenge will also be about the music that is closely related to the movies we love.

We would like to know your 5 favorite soundtracks. Take one or more photos of 5 movies and the corresponding soundtrack. Both must be in physical format. Which format doesn't matter (Premium Edition, Steelbook, Amaray etc. for movies / CD, Vinyl etc. for soundtracks).

We would also like to know what the first soundtrack was that you bought. Please tell us something about how you came to buy this soundtrack.

We are really excited and look forward to the challenge and your posts. Have fun and let the music play! 😉

Alright @Gentleman you son of a b!tch, I scrounged up 5 soundtracks! I had 3 already in mind, I found a fourth I forgot about, and thankfully my sister loves Disney crap so I now have a fifth.

1. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

20221106_150722.thumb.jpg.af2511c39fa632c4823a6f00c6c711d4.jpg

Of all the movie soundtracks I've bought, this is both my first AND my favorite! Daniel Pemberton must've been on something, because the score is just inspired. It's just a shame my vinyl doesnt even have a jacket.

2. Baby Driver

20221106_143116.thumb.jpg.b9ba12361fc618a093eab04b98d3feba.jpg

I forgot I had this one! Edgar Wright has such an eclectic taste, choosing banger after banger. You can recall all the scenes too, listening to each song.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy

20221106_143025.thumb.jpg.6ce025ff62246034e436b5aa774a5a76.jpg

Awesome Mixtape Vol. 1! This soundtrack is extremely memorable, dare I say iconic at this point. It's not as diverse as say, Pulp Fiction's, but it's made its mark after 8 only years.

4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

20221106_142930.thumb.jpg.51062337255323037837dc1bc02d7ba6.jpg

Awesome Mixtape Vol. 2! Is it as good as the first? Personally, I don't think so. But it's not without its hits, Brandy and The Chain being the biggest.

5. Mulan

20221106_150641.thumb.jpg.086abcae009fa55cb81e222dce8ea56a.jpg

If I had Cowboy Bebop in any visual medium, that would've been my number one. But alas, only the vinyl. So because I happen to have this in my house, we get Mulan as number 5. It has some good songs, but I can't say I remember the score. Maybe I should rewatch the movie.

My streak goes unbroken!

Challenge 8

image.thumb.jpeg.6974b6188009fdbc3689f5164a7ce067.jpeg

image.thumb.jpeg.b70a8d5d29fa3aada5c456951b42418d.jpeg

Red - The Howling

Orange - The Hills Have Eyes

Yellow - Midsommar

Green - The Matrix

Blue - Back to the Future Trilogy

Purple - Her

Pink - True Romance

My collection is all over the place due to a move. I usually try to keep it simple and organize by retailer.  Though it does bug me when a franchise or series ends up split between retailers..

Awards

For Challenge 9:

@Gentleman congrats on the most difficult challenge so far.  Definitely not easy to find physical disc soundtracks in this digital age.

Had to go through boxes of cds and dvds but found enough.  All credit to my wife as nearly all of them were purchased by her.  Hardest thing was finding the movie to go with it, as had multiple soundtracks for movies I don't own (Titanic, Armageddon, and Bring It On to name a few).

1. Dirty Dancing

2 Austin Powers the Spy who Shagged Me

3. Shrek

4. Space Jam

5. Grease

20221106_205641.thumb.jpg.795d230c20c5af2cb74a69f627bafcc4.jpg

First soundtrack I owned was the Batman Forever soundtrack.  Kiss from a Rose by Seal was the leading song, and the soundtrack was from a Batman movie so no brainer.

Not getting points for the new challenge but I found some CD's:

I only bought rap CD's back in my day and didn't know I had them still until I asked my wife today! I think my only soundtracks were for Men In Black and Wild Wild West! I still buy CD's these days but switched up my genre since I met my wife. I have the last two Slipknot albums and that's it!

My band currently is Slipknot, I have the lead singer Corey Taylor's solo album autographed!

The last actual CD''s I bought were there classics! (Which I realized I actually have the Eminem one!)

Dr. Dre - 2021

Lil Wayne - Carter 1 & 2

Slim Shady LP

The Marshall Mathers LP

Relapse

Recovery

Encore: Curtain Call 2

Challenge 9: tough one—great idea though! I've been getting back into vinyl the last few years, but I've only got a couple soundtracks. I don't meet minimum requirements, but I'll share anyway!

2001: A Space Odyssey. I have two albums, pictured next to the Criterion LaserDisc. I listen to soundtracks when I'm working, these are great background.

IMG_3281.thumb.JPG.32f8814e8dcb17d595bf6fce73258a88.JPG

I've also got the soundtrack for Oblivion on vinyl. It's such a fantastic score.

Bonus feature! I've got my Dad's copy of Heavy Metal on vinyl, but no accompanying copy of the film.

And now

milk-and-mocha-cute.gif

Still kinda baffled by the many members that have problems with this great challenge. Anyway first focusing on the members that can do it ☺️

Terrific @Gentleman I see you received the Braveheart CD I recommended 😍. I also have the other one you're showing but decided to only include 1 in my picture since I wanted to highlight mor of James Horners work. Seeing that you feature TItanic I will recommend the 4-Disc 20th Anniversary Boxset from La La Land Records to you, it is currently unavailable but they will have it again later (they always produce only a part of the limited quantity each time until the complete print run is reached). You will find it at soundtrackcorner as soon as it is available again.

@ethnosax wow, fantastic submission and thanks for the extra pictures. Currently it is actually easier to get an LP for a Soundtrack than a CD release. Many of the new movies if they even get a release are only getting the LP. I had LPs in the past but then I transitioned to CD's as I'm not so eager to switch the sides every 15 Minutes or so and they also faded away with the huge comeback in recent year. When they came back I simply could not bring myself to buy LPs again, even when some look simply great.

@bossjon very nice, you also have LP's 😲, stunning.

@hal56 I love the Blade Runner Soundtrack too, check out this album Blade Runner: Music from the Origin it is also very nice.

@Mrdugan thanks for showing these. I see that the LP is more popular than the CD.

@Cornbuster that Bloodsport is cool. I have the CD and soon a new CD release with that Cover will be released (I'm getting that too 😄).

@Reagh Twin Peaks Thumbs Up GIF I also really like the Twin Peaks Music, there are a few series that have great soundtracks, like Star Trek, Spartacus, Vikings, Babylon 5. I have lots of these but wanted to concentrate on Movie Music.

@Veum 👌 thanks for looking though your stuff 😄

@MikeH5856 Hanz Zimmer has done some great Soundtracks like Gladiator, Dune, Last Samurai, Blade Runner 2049 or the Batman (even when I find some parts a little loud to be honest).

@InfiniteDoors you don't have all the Star Trek Soundtracks 😲?

AmusingComfortableAngwantibo-max-1mb.gif

@Boilersteel I love the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack, so many great songs 😊

@hansreinhardt the Oblivion Soundtrack is terrific, very cool LP you have. Sad that you do not have enough to complete the challenge, but thanks for showing these 🙏

@Gary K 😲 thank you but I simply can't bring myself to allow concert Films. The challenge is about Movie Music, so I need members to stick with that, sorry.

@Catgirl shocked-cat.gif

@Chief_lookout I have the 2-Disc Limited Edition from La La Land Records for Krull abd Star Trek two also just got a new 2-Disc Limited Edition release 😍 with almost 2 hours and 20 Minutes of Music, before the longest release was only 74 minutes.

I thought about it and we will have no adjustment of the rules for this challenge. I mean if every challenge could be solved by everyone it would not be much of a challenge. I hope everyone can understand and tries the next challenge again.

Please don't let it keep you from giving likes to the members that complete the challenge.

I also ask everyone to read the complete challenges. We often have a companion question and it seems that member often forget to answer that. It is to much work for me to remind members each time, until now I have always awarded the point anyway and most of the time members came back and answered the question, but I would appreciate if members don't foregt in the future.

At my age, it's difficult to remember what was the first soundtrack I ever bought, but if I had to guess, it was probably this 1982 vinyl compilation of the early Bond films.

JAMES BOND GREATEST HITS [EMTV007] 1982: Amazon.co.uk: CDs & Vinyl

I adore movie soundtracks and although I don't own that many soundtrack cds (roughly twenty, half of which are the Bond films from Dr. No to Moonraker) those I have are frequently on rotation in my player,

Nothing beats listening to a Morricone or Barry score (my two favorite film composers) on a quiet evening after work... in fact, every time of the day is perfect for listening to the following masterpieces:

The Ipcress File - John Barry

image.thumb.jpeg.d9f0cfef62ed5cd31211a742ca4c08bd.jpeg

Once Upon A Time In The West - Ennio Morricone

image.thumb.jpeg.aa6b9a899bb0da036df2e1179d3d22fd.jpeg

A Fistful Of Dynamite - Ennio Morricone

image.thumb.jpeg.d903bae14e3f3505d5c339f08f9ceeac.jpeg

The Godfather Part II - Nino Rota

image.thumb.jpeg.7b2cebef217b42b8b9628bc68b15ceca.jpeg

Once Upon A Time In America - Ennio Morricone

image.thumb.jpeg.2cfc49cb0312dc1625b124ccbf36a9ab.jpeg

As a bonus, I also include two of my favorite soundtracks which I didn't count for this challenge due to the first movie being a custom steel and the other soundtrack being a compilation of exisiting songs.

Dirty Harry - Lalo Schifrin

image.thumb.jpeg.329e350e6726170c45a5f3d5d9c3096c.jpeg

Jackie Brown - various artists
