the token would have been the perfect accompaniment to finish the set off imho.

its just a shame this a digipack as i dont collect them but it is a beautiful set kim san 👍

When MP first discussed Inception with UC, I came up with a conceptual design for UC. 

There were supposed to be 4 compartments in the hardbox, each representing a dream layer. These 4 are supposedly placed into a cardboard box designed to look like 

the dream machine. Then, UC and I tried making the handmade windmill stored in the safe at the end of the movie.

 

As too many components were new concept art, it was rejected. Haha

 

So, in the end, we opted so a ton of lenticulars to be featured in the boxset!

UC went along 😃

 

 

Other than lenti, MP suggested for strong print effects to enhance the release.

1. Even the back of the hardbox needs spotUV

2. The Inception title with high rise buildings (digipak art) must have spotUV too.

 

I hope to take this opportunity to let everyone understand how great a retailer UC is.

Not only is spotUV printing rather costly and doing it across many surfaces raises the cost price, but digitally selecting every single small detail of the high rise buildings

requires alot of work by the designer. (Weet is the only retailer so far that goes all out to achieve such details)

 

Look at how good the final digipak is!

 

 

 

Lastly, we feedback to UC that when spotUV is used to try and raise the print higher.

 

UC really spent alot of time to achieve all these!

Kudos.

 

And the delay is due to the reprinting of the lenti.

Do note that 4 lentis were affected due to the mistake of the FORGER text, so UC had to pay for printing 4 new lentis.

 

Inception ended up costing them alot more now.

 

Hope that whoever that eventually gets a copy of this release to showcase them wherever you can!!

Thank you for presenting all these fantastic pictures.

It proves 2 things:

a) the best edition by far of Inception is on its way,

b) everyone still trying to hunt down the HDZeta TDK Trilogy: hold your horses, the definitive release is yet to come.

 

And given the splendid quality of this digipack: please dont ever switch to steelbooks.

Lentis are always glued on. Check any of your lenti slips and it'll be the same. Part of the reason I'm not a fan of em

Well frak, you're absolutely right. Just dug out my UC Dunkirk and it's the same. To be fair I hadn't noticed earlier when I received it.

I think the problem is there is an image underneath here that does not match the lentis. I'd rather have it be one neutral color. Like the Prestige.

To be frank, it is VERY visible on the pictures, it's not something that will bother me in-hand (judging by Dunkirk), but yes I agree @4kiraL. Except I don't have The Prestige 😭

Now, let me take a guess here about that printing issue.

 

Usually the print underneath the lenti kinda matches the lenti itself. See Dunkirk and Interstellar.

 

Also note that this release was supposed to be 3 transition lenticular with the rotating hotel image.

 

As far as I can tell, the print on the box matches the original lenti in the Beauty shot. (Especially visible from the right side/ open side ofthe hardbox.

 

They seem to now have chosen the standard lenticular instead probably after they have already printed the boxes.

 

The question arises why UC opted out of that one. Maybe licensing issue/ misprint / cost ?
