1. The thin red line

2. Rush

3. Borg and McEnroe

4. Platoon

5. Troy

The thin red line and Platoon:

I am not a hughe fan of American so called "anti-war-movies", but I think these two are not all about the good Americans, but about the real cruelty of war, the idiots behind it and about the poor and most of the time navie and lost humans, trying to live with it - or make any sense out of it.

So these are two of not many, who really deserves the name "anti-war-movie"!

Rush  and Borg and McEnroe:

Amazing filmed, edited, designed and told story, about some impressive people.

Troy:

Epic at its best!

Challenge #31

Is that real? Thank you, @cypheria078.

20230507-132404.jpg

I have put 6 because some of them are doubtful, it is an adaptation of what really happened. Although, at the end of the day, obviously, they all are.

"Dark waters" is a film that surprised me because it's terribly scandalous case, and I didn't know about it. How the media here didn't talk more about it? We have become so used to environmental scandals that we no longer stop to think about their consequences. That most of us Psychos can have this pollution in our bodies without knowing it is shocking.

"Climax", a film that several of us here have recently seen, tells the story of a rehearsal party at which someone put LSD in the sangria. And everything went out of control. To a distressing, crazy, even violent point. In the real case it was never known who had done it.

"Fariña", in english "Cocaine Coast", is a successful Spanish TV series which tells the story of how some illiterate Galician sailors became big true narcos and managed the gateway of Colombian cocaine into Europe in the 80s and part of the 90s. Almost unintentionally. It's so realistic, that in the script they had to eliminate things that seemed unbelievable. Many of the protagonists are still alive. And yes, they even hid hundreds of millions in a water container that burst when it started to rain.

"American Hustle" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" belong to the genre of films about big money scandals, or corruption. And it is curious that some of the most incredible true stories you can see in cinema are about money, you were, and cheating. There are so many of them that they are a genre in their own right.

Finally, "La gran apuesta", in english "The Big Short", is a film that belongs to this genre, big scandals or incredible events that happened around money, and that ended up in a film. But, in this case, I personally think it is a film that everyone should see. It should be the subject of reflection and study in schools.

About how this world is organised, and what has brought us here. Although it talks about the economic crash of 2008, I saw it again recently, and I got the feeling that deep down it is still talking about us.

Thank you @Scary Hair for our newest challenge.

There are a lot of death throughout cinematic history that are either very tragic or so deserving. I was really struggling with this challenge as the stipulation also included "extremely gross , gruesome , violent".

Anyway I decided to go with 3 entries for option A:

- Alien 3 the most depressing movie of all time, after Ripley endured so much everything she fought for is taken away from her. Newt, Kyle and her own life. Her end is so sad and violent but also heroic. And before someone says "but Ripley returns as a Clone" that is why I also included Newt and Kyle, also that Clone is certainly not the real Ripley.

- Braveheart 😭 poor William Wallace.

- Spartacus Series, during the whole Series we have to part with good guys but the final season is so tragic and we have to say goodby to so many 😥

and 3 for B:

- Robocop this has some great/graphic death scenes which are all so deserving like Clarence Boddicker, Emil Antonowsky, Dick Jones.

- The Crow, very fulfilling how Eric Draven gets his revenge on Top Dollar, T-Bird, Tin Tin, Funboy & Shank.

- Spartacus Series is simply great from beginning to the end and it features also some very deserving ends for some of the antagonist. For example Batiatus in the Season 1 final.

As for my ultimate end 🤔 I don't really want to choose one but for the purpose of the challenge I will go with William Wallace. It is such a sad but also powerful end.

🧋🤠 :) 🎬 thank you @Scary Hair for this most “intellectual” challenge! 🙋‍♂️

                                        *THE STICKY END Challenge 32*

Hans Landa “Inglourious Basterds” (2009) - Aldo Raine decides to shoot Landa’s accomplice, and give Landa a swastika he can’t take off.

Thanos “Avengers: Endgame” (2019) - A costly use of the Infinity Stones by Tony Stark reduces Thanos, his armies, and his ambitions to dust.

Iosef Tarasov “John Wick” (2014) - John’s rampage sends Iosef on the run, but in the end, there’s no one left to hide behind. Iosef is gunned down, still trying to insist that it was “just” a dog!

*ULTIMATE STICKY END*

Dennis Nedry “Jurassic Park” (1993) - Nedry gets lost in a storm while trying to escape the island and his mockery of a nearby dinosaur soon comes back to bite him – literally. Not even saying the magic word would’ve gotten him out of this one.

Challenge #32.  The Sticky End.

A.

The protagonist in a movie that leaves you crying into a cushion with a feeling of loss

Throwing out three that always makes me sad

1.  Cool Hand Luke.  When Luke is shot and put into the car.  You know he will not survive.  Feel for Dragline.

2.  Ford v. Ferrari.  When Ken crashes and doesn't survive.   Then the aftermath of Shelby trying to visit his wife and son.

3.  The outsiders.  Both Johnny and Dallas.  Even after watching this for 40 years.  Still sad.
20230507_080155.thumb.jpg.7c567d9cdafde86b69962676b20b6517.jpg

B.  The antagonist who deserves everything that is coming to them .

1. Mad Max: Fury Road. Immortan Joe getting his face ripped off .

2.  Doctor Sleep.  Rose the Hat getting devoured by the spirits and Crow Daddy suffering after flying through the windshield after the accident.

3.  Who Framed Roget Rabbit.  Judge Doom getting his comeuppance in his own Dip..
20230507_080112.thumb.jpg.ce592d0e056ede8ae4c56bf04d4a8909.jpg

ULTIMATE STICKY END

Have to go with Nicky in Casino.  After watching his brother get beaten he suffers the same fate and then buried while still alive.  Really was a horrible person.

Emil in Robocop would be a close 2nd.

Challenge 32 -  THE STICKY END

Thank you @Scary Hair for such a gratifying challenge 😈

1. The Revenant: John Fitzgerald is scalped and killed.

2. Death Proof: Stuntman Mike is violently beaten to death.

3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Walter Donovan decomposes into a skeleton after drinking the wrong Grail.

Ultimate Sticky End:

I Saw the Devil: Jang Kyung-chul is decapitated with a guillotine at the hands of his unwitting family.

Thanks @Scary Hair for this bloody well thought out challenge 🩸

Sticky being the key word, I selected 5 death scenes that are particularly over-the-top, making all but the second one both gory and comical.

Kananga in Live And Let Die ("he always did have an inflated opinion of himself")

Malone biting many, many bullets in The Untouchables

Emil 'don't touch me, maaan!' Antonowski in Robocop

David being served as an all-you-can-eat buffet in Shaun Of The Dead

Tex, Katie and Sadie getting all kinds of gruesome brutalities in Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood

image.thumb.jpeg.fb3b4c0ef4cda0b505191c96b3e66bf1.jpeg

Quint in Jaws and Nicky & Dominic in Casino get special mention as having met a particularly gruesome demise.

Challenge #32: The Sticky End

Thanks @Scary Hair for an interesting challenge.

I selected Indiana Jones both Raiders and Temple have some fairly brutal endings. The face melting and explosion of Nazi heads is a classic. Kahli Ma’s demise in Temple of Doom, while not terribly gory, is always a favorite. Ripped apart by crocodiles…or are they alligators, is never a good way to go. Last selection is Coohagen face getting all transformed and bug-eyed in the original Total Recall.

My ultimate end is from Riki Oh. Dude gets thrown into the meat grinder.

Thanks for the new challenge @Scary Hair,

I also decided to go the A & B route, so lets start off with

Option A:

Spartacus:

Spartacus´ (Kirk Douglas) finally dying on the cross, seeing his wife and son leave savely.

Glory & Rogue One:

basically everyone dies in these two with Glory having even more resonance and impact when we see all characters we rooted for

being thrown in mass graves in slow motion. Thus GLORY is also my choice for ULTIMATE END

image.thumb.jpeg.f363f43aab50ebbeba25afab40dcaf63.jpeg

Option B:

Get Out:

it was great to see the whole Armitage family being killed with the highlight being Rose´s (Allison Williams) death

Last of the Mohicans:

Magua (Wes Studi): it was a pleasure to see this ruthless and callous guy meeting his bloody fate by the hands of Chingachgook (Russell Means)

Misery:

Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates): another psycho bites the dust. And well deserved so.

Robocop

This might be a little controversial, but I'm choosing Alex Murphy, the man who would become Robocop. Except he didn't. Murphy was blasted to bits by a hail of bullets, and he died. The bionic tin man we follow for the rest of the movie is a corpse and shreds of brain that are reanimated, not resurrected. Any semblance of Murphy being alive again is just past brain functions. But hey, if that doesn't count, there's always Boddicker's death.

Challenge 32

To show my love for martial arts movies, here are my 3 entries:

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Hero almost avoided a slow death from poison.

Fist of Fury - Hero charged to his death with a flying kick and gut-wrenching yell.

Hero - Hero sacrificed himself in a volley of arrows.

Ultimate heartbreaking death:

SPL - Hero shockingly pushed out of a high-rise after he won the fight!

Challenge 31:  DID THAT REALLY HAPPEN ?

@extantsrevenge

@cypheria078  Thanks for this challenge!

I didn’t have time to do a great write-up, but I did find five titles based on actual events - including what I believe to be one of the best movies of all time.

1. First Man - a highly overlooked film

2. The Great Escape - one of the greatest film epics

3. Moneyball - great movie based on a great book by a great writer

4. Saving Mr. Banks - movie about Walt Disney trying to bring Mary Poppins to his studio

5. Schindler’s List - a masterpiece - through and through

Ok, sticky ends they can't rise from. I hope I am understanding this challenge correctly. I took some from column A, some from column B. Three choices and my ultimate:

IMG_2895.thumb.jpeg.770994ac15455dc52f1d5693b649167b.jpeg

Jimmy-Road House: Got his throat ripped out, very satisfying, almost as much so as Brad Wesley getting shotgunned over and over

Sub Zero, and others-Running Man: throat cut with barbed wire; so many gruesome sticky ends in that one!

Pulp Fiction-Vincent Vega: Uzi coming out of the bathroom

And my ultimate, the tear-jerking death of Gus, arrow in the leg causing gangrene and sepsis; this one was rough!

Thanks for looking!

Still sad.

ULTIMATE STICKY END

Have to go with Nicky in Casino.  After watching his brother get beaten he suffers the same fate and then buried while still alive.  Really was a horrible person.

Emil in Robocop would be a close 2nd.

Quint in Jaws and Nicky & Dominic in Casino get special mention as having met a particularly gruesome demise.

DOES THIS QUALIFY? 🤨

One of my fav films of all-time 😘

Martin Vanger - Just as Martin is about to kill Blomkvist, Salander appears and hits him in the face with a golf club, breaking his jaw. Martin flees in his car, with Salander in pursuit on her motorcycle. Martin drives into a fuel tanker and is trapped under it. The tanker then explodes, killing him.

I've got 3 submissions, and one ultimate sticky end!

Movie 80S GIF

The Incredibles

Syndrome is the ultimate fanboy turned sadistic evil prick, and getting sucked into a jet engine is quite a way to go for a kids' movie.

The Incredibles Cape GIF

Rogue One

Director Krennic is the guy in charge of building the Death Star. And how does he die? He's killed by the Death Star.

And now, for the ULTIMATE STICKY END

Hehe. Actually, it's Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Come on, Nazis open the Ark of the Covenant and get their faces melted by God??? Now THAT'S sticky!
