Challenge 30: The Villains

Well I was going to wait for the weekend for this but @extantsrevenge be hitting us with the guilt trip about not posting AND it looks like I’m going to have to post 100 steelbooks this weekend as well, so here we go!

Immortan Joe - Mad Max Fury Road. Probably my favorite villain in terms of character design (besides Vader).

Evil Ash - Army of Darkness. Hilarious bad guy and a great concept. Recently saw this in the theatre again, absolutely love this movie.

Sutler and Creedy - V for Vendetta. Couldn’t choose who I hated more in this movie but they were both such satisfying death scenes.

Lo Pan - Big Trouble in Little China. Kind of in the same vein as Army of Darkness, more comical than maniacal. “Shut up Mr Burton! You were not brought upon this world to ‘get it’”

Agent Smith - The Matrix. V is back but as the villain. Perfectly portrayed.

My favorite villain has got to be Darth Vader. Nothing really much to say that hasn’t been. After that probably the Joker, the shark from Jaws, xenomorphs, the predator. Decided not to post any of those as I don’t want all of my submissions to be dominated by those movies/franchises!

Challenge 30: The Villains — Here comes my contribution with, in my opinion, great villains.

My favorite is Denzel Washington as Alonzo Harris. Simply strong, how he embodies the corrupt cop. Also the interaction with Ethan Hawke works just great. Rightly rewarded with an Oscar.

Training Day /Alonzo Harris

No Country For Old Men / Anton Chigurh

Fight Club / Tyler Durden

American Psycho / Patrick Bateman

Reservoir Dogs / Mr. Blonde

The Predator / Himself 😅

Challenge 30

as a horror fan, it was all too easy and overwhelming to select villains, so I decided to go with a clown theme since clowns are inherently evil.

1. Terrifier

2. It

3. The Funhouse

4. Haunt

5. Killer Klowns from outer space.

IMG_1484.thumb.jpeg.a174204e5e14d4bba1c3f3571239cd3c.jpeg

To be clear, the villain in The Funhouse isn’t really a clown.

IMG_1491.gif.dea3eba40dd87f36ca27a5254f5e8413.gif

as for my favorite I have to go with Art The Clown from Terrifier.   Absolutely iconic from his first frame.

Thank you @extantsrevenge for Challenge 30 - The Villains!

Challenge30.thumb.jpg.efa73053f7282898466894d81c6701a4.jpg

1. Amy Dunne (Gone Girl)

2. Jobu Tupaki (Everything Everywhere All At Once)

3. Joker (The Dark Knight)

4. T-800 (The Terminator)

5. Jack Torrance (The Shining)

My favourite villain is Amy Dunne from Gone Girl. So seemingly innocent and charming, yet underneath so calculating and scary. Not a typical protagonist of a revenge story, this complicated character will have you fooled, and will make you love her and hate her at the same time. Kudos to Rosamund Pike's brilliant performance.

Thanks to @extantsrevenge  for this week’s villainous challenge…Such a difficult choice as there are literally hundreds of possibilities to choose from … but You can’t have a challenge like this and not include Die Hard’s chief protagonist Hans Gruber so here he is heading my list …

Hans Gruber - Die Hard

CHALLENGE 30 The Villains

Thanks @extantsrevenge for this fun challenge!

1. DARTH VADER Star Wars - The most iconic villain in the history of cinema.

2. ODDJOB Goldfinger - My favorite Bond villain just for the sheer absurdity of his deadly bowler.

3. THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS - No, not Buffalo Bill . . . but, Hannibal Lecter, the charming psychopath.

4. ANTONIO SALIERI - In reality, he was way more popular and respected than Mozart in the late 18th century.  But in the movie, he is possibly the most humanized villain in all of cinema.  He is the patron saint of all us "mediocrities" and in a haunting moment he absolves all of us for being mere humans, hiding in the shadows of the rare geniuses.

5. JACOBIM MUGATU (Jacob Moogberg) - Yeah, he didn't get the credit he deserved for inventing the piano key necktie, so he's got a score to settle.  No frothy lattes please.

Great challenge @cypheria078

Here are some of my favorite films based on real events.

They are listed in chronological order of release, which incidentally coincides with the level of faithfulness to the real life events on which they are based.

Amadeus

The Untouchables

Casino

Memories Of Murder

Zodiac

I was sure Casino & The untouchables would be in your selection 🙂

Challenge 31: Did That Really Happen?

Thank you @cypheria078 for this challenge. I think my favorite movie that would fall into this category would be 300. It’s an absolutely killer movie and depicts one of the most famous battles ever. Perfect job of taking real events and embellishing them. In a similar vein is Spartacus.

I included Rush which is a fun movie though the relationship between Hunt and Lauda was over sensationalized for the sake of making a more compelling story.

The exorcist was based off of a book which was inspired by true events and the exorcism of Roland Doe.

Young Guns…Billy the Kid did exist. Not sure how much truth there is to any part of the movie though!

3. The Elephant Man

4. Dunkirk

Thank you @ethnosax. Great selection 👍🏻

I will add The Innocents to my watchlist, I never watched it 🙂

Thank you @cypheria078 for our newest challenge.

Here is my selection that features real events/stories/persons (I grabbed the movies that instantly came to mind). It is always very interesting to see movies about real events, even when the interpretation for the movies is often altered, sometimes more and sometimes less. I love learing about stuff this way, because if you're intrigued by what you see you will often end up reading about it to find out more.
