Here I am, getting the cheap ones out of the way lol. We can't all be fancypants cultured kino connoisseurs! And I'm being extra cheap with two Extended Editions, I'm too lazy to take RotK out of its protector.

I've never left in the middle of a movie in theaters. I almost pissed myself as a kid watching Revenge of the Sith, the movie was taking so looooooong.

Challenge 33: Intermission

Andrei Rublev: 183 minutes

Barry Lyndon: 185 minutes

Fanny and Alexander: 188 minutes (theatrical version)

Inland Empire: 180 minutes

Kwaidan: 183 minutes

I don’t think I left a movie for the restroom and missed something. I definitely need to get up to pee a lot more what with many theaters serving beer but I choose my moments carefully. I did fall asleep during The Hunt for Red October. I saw it in the theatre with my grandfather, I must’ve been 10 or so and slept through most of it as did my grandfather! We always laughed at us both falling asleep.

So, here is my submission for movies with 3 or more hour runtimes:

IMG_2907.thumb.jpeg.cb9e55f96fc4ed450e940c3b916329ad.jpeg

The Green Mile-189 minutes

Dances with Wolves-181 minutes (barely made it)

Lawrence of Arabia-242 minutes

Schindler's List-195 minutes

Apocalypse Now Redux-202 minutes

I love Lonesome Dove, and added it, but I wasn't sure if it would count because it was originally a TV miniseries. It is 384 minutes. And as a bonus, I added 1984s Dune extended edition, but it falls just shy at 177 minutes.

My leaving during a movie actually enhanced it! I watched the Dawn of the Dead remake, and at the end they get on a boat and sail off, looking for an island. I had waited but had to go per. My friend told me there was a scene after a few seconds of credits that showed zombies on that island, too, an idea which I thought ruined the movie. So I like the ending I got better! Thanks for looking!

Thanks to @ethnosax for creating this challenge #33. Here is my submission of 5 movies that are close to 3 hours or slightly higher then 3 hours in runtime.

1. Malcolm X (3h 22m)

2. The Wolf of Wall Street (3 hours)

3. Watchmen (2h 43m)

4. The Ten Commandments (3h 40m)

5. Gandhi (3h 11m)

And as for leaving while a movie is playing either to use the bathroom or get a snack. I don't think I've ever actually done that. I don't like missing anything and if I have to hold mine in, I will. 😀

Challenge #1 thanks @extantsrevenge

here is my favorite and open Lenticular top, my favorite being that of the guardians of the galaxy Blufans, I have a very pleasant memory when this release appeared, one of my very first Premium, my favorite in Lenticular,  it's the depth effect, there's work behind it all, I have some with these depth effects but they are sealed in one click 😄😄

Challenge #33

thanks @ethnosaxfor this new challenge,

here is my selection for this one, I like films that are long enough where the story immediately puts us in a situation, I don't move from the moment I press the button  reading 😄 , I have a little anecdote on it, I did the marathon for the release of the Hobbit the battle of the five armies, we had already seen the Lord of the Rings just before at home and I absolutely wanted to be early  to be well placed in the room, so we watched the first two opuses before the 3rd and I had to relieve myself before the 3rd and when I returned, the opening credits had just started and I went down the steps  in the dark, I almost picked myself up like stop using inappropriate language in the driveway but I was careful and no one saw anything 🙈, in any case, I saw that I hadn't missed anything but  it was minus one

Challenge 32 - Sticky End

Great challenge @Scary Hair! Thanks so much.

My Selections.

1.  Friday The 13th - the final decapitation of Momma Vorhees.
2. Mandy - Red finally exacting revenge on Jeremiah Sand by giving him an eyeful.
3. Slither - the whole movie is super sticky and goopy and Grant’s final demise is a masterpiece of goopy stickiness.
4. Drag Me To Hell - our protagonist fulfills the title of the film in the very last frames.   Just brutal.
5. Scanners - not the infamous head explosion, but the final confrontation between Revok and Vale.  One of them died.  But who?

my favorite though is definitely Friday The 13th (and the most amazing jump scare at the very end)

Challenge #32: The Sticky End. Thanks to @Scary Hairfor this tough challenge!

z9nCsLh.jpeg

1. The Godfather: Don Vito Corleone. Sad when he went. Fitting that he died playing with his grand kid as he was a family man.

2. Scarface: Tony Montana. For a fleeting moment I thought he would make it out alive, but too much coke and bullets.

3. Goodfellas: Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci). He was a terrible guy, but when I first saw this as a teen, I didn't expect him to get popped the way he did.

4. Casino: Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci). An even worse death than the character he played in Goodfellas, I can't think of a more scary way to go.

5. 300: Leonidas. It really made me sad to see him die, even though I knew it was coming.

q73rfRv.jpeg

Ultimate Sticky: Avengers Endgame: Tony Stark. Only the second time I've cried during a movie death, (the other being Apollo Creed when I was 8). The whole sequence of events is a teer jerker.

NICE and gooey @ncraft Thanks Thank You GIF by 大姚Dayao

CHALLENGE #32 : THE STICKY END

Thanks @Scary Hair for the challenge

I choose option A - Sticky Ends that left me . . .

image.gif.5762124ef4fe8aa499f604479ca6469f.gif

1. THE OUTSIDERS - Let's do it for Johnny

2. CITIZEN KANE - With every success and broken relationship, Charles Foster Kane inches toward his own hollow death

3. AMADEUS - Wolfy in a pauper's grave, covered in quicklime, while the choir sings the Lacrimosa

4. EASY RIDER - Billy and Wyatt gunned down on a country road for having long hair

5. 3:10 TO YUMA (2007) - Dan does his duty and is gunned down, only to be avenged by Ben, in a complicated, heartbreaking redemption story

image.thumb.jpeg.cb30524f789188aa75139db57db7b78f.jpeg

HONORABLE MENTION - the least sticky ending in history : Oh My God, They Killed Kenny!!

I remember the first time I saw Kenny McCormick die, I couldn't believe it.  After 5 years and over a 125 gruesome deaths, the little guy in the parka was finally gone . . . wait . . .  is he?

When they killed him at the end of season 5, "for good" it was so heartbreaking.  Ironically all the previous 125 deaths had numbed you to the fact that anything bad could ever really happen to the muffled mouth fella, right?  If death can't stop him, nothing can.  But man, this episode, where the boys say "bye" to him, was truly unique for any death of any character in any story.  You didn't know if he was coming back or not, you hoped, but you didn't know.  It was a weird space to be in:  I can't own my sadness for the boys because I don't know if it's real, but it feels real, but is it real?  A truly unsticky stickiest of endings.  In the last episode of season 5 and then through season 6, you had heartbreak every episode Kenny didn't show up to do his duty . . . to be killed.   His spirit inhabited Rob Schneider and other characters, but still . . . no Kenny.  Truly missed the little bro, and so did the boys.

If you watched season 6, you know the rest.  Merry Xmas Kenny.

CHALLENGE 33 ‐ INTERMISSION

Thank you @ethnosax for another good challenge! I tried to do this one without any of the obvious contenders, but, alas, I don't own many films much longer than a couple of hours. Seems that's my limit for sitting still in one spot.

The Wolf of Wall Street - 3 hours.

Watchmen (Director's Cut) - 3 hours, 6 minutes.

Kingdom of Heaven (Ultimate Edition) - 3 hours, 14 minutes.

The Lord of the Rings: FOTR (Extended) - 3 hours, 48 minutes.

The Lord of the Rings: ROTK (Extended) - 4 hours, 23 minutes.

20230515_152313.thumb.jpg.05db2d8597d11783bc3aac3bd1b0e7d1.jpg

I don't usually walk out of a movie once it's started, even to the detriment of my full bladder. FOMO and all lol. This really sucks for the longer movies and my systems are usually a little off for a while after.

(LOTR extended editions)

I recall walking out of one movie that I saw as a bored teenager: Lucky You (2007). It was so awful.

I also embarrassingly fell asleep at the local midnight premieres of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

There are probably a few people who wouldn't blame you for falling asleep during Revenge of the Sith, but there's absolutely NO excuse for Harry Potter!
