Movies: Toys and Figures

Recommended Posts

I honestly did not know where to post this bit of trivia so I got lazy and elected to post it here, as this is a cool thread I'd like to see get traffic anyway...😀

So, not sure if many of you have heard of an on-line retailer called "Entertainment Earth" ?

They principally sell action figures, POPs, games, and a host of other products.

Well I've been on their e-mailing list a few years and received one today that surprised me.

They have a huge number of figs related to the new "Avengers Endgame" flik in the pipe.

Great, right?

Yeah, except some of these figs are HUGE SPOILERS wrt some of the characters in this coming film! 🤨

So anyway, after I get permission from a MOD, I'll post a link to their web-site, as I think many folk who love figs should know about this site!

It's like "SideShow" stuff but in plastic, and smaller....

They have a vast quantity of new and old figs related to almost every (super-hero/fantasy/horror) film you can think of!

Mind, as to spoilers, you have been warned!

Now; Mods.

If one of you give permission, I'll post a link. 🙂

Cheers!

@Grendel I moved your post and created a new topic here in the Collectibles section, I think that works better 😊

I have heard from Entertainment Earth, I actually bought stuff from them years ago. You can post a link 😉. But I'm not looking at the figures, no spoilers for me 😅

Thanks so much @extantsrevenge for finding (creating!) an appropriate place for this post!

Much appreciated!

However, due to the nature of the items they list, a title such as "Film: Toys and Figures" might be appropriate?

I'm max flex! 😉

Also thanks for permission to link, as I think this store has incredible stuff (frequently on sale!) that many folk may enjoy pursuing.

So that said folks, here's a link to Entertainment Earth (an American site, btw).

Cheers! 🤗

Really wasn’t sure where to post this, but this feels about right.

Tagging a few peeps just as I suspect no one comes here often. If I tagged you and you’re really not interested, then my apologies.

It's funny you should bring this up @Pbsw23 as I used to love lego as a kid, but it's not something I've bothered with until just recently.....

I saw this at Christmas but was put off by the price tag of £185. A few months later Amazon had a sale on and I picked it up for £139 (still expensive but I thought it would be fun to build with the kids)

I've also seen there are loads of light kits for it on ebay that also play sound effects and music. Some are really pricey but can you can get something half decent for about £40. I haven't fully built mine yet but I think I'm gonna do the job properly and get this light kit for it once it's built.

Have u purchased that avatar lego or is it a new preorder that's not out yet?

@RileyLad Nice! Ecto-1 has been on my “Lego Lust List” since it came out, but I’ve not pulled the trigger just yet. I have got the Fast & Furious Technic Charger.

I’m one of those classic Lego nerds who was obsessed and owned a tonne of it as a kid. I never got rid of it, and then rediscovered my love for it in my 30’s. Trouble is they churn them out too damn fast these days and I can’t afford them all 😂 I’m now getting into building MOC’s (my own creations) and regularly use BrinkLink.com for parts.

There’s a couple more Avatar sets, but you can only pre-order one of them at the moment…. The most expensive one! 😆

I'm definitely into them. I loved them as a kid and recently got back into them as my daughter is approaching that magical age.

My mother-in-law gave me the Saturn V rocket for Christmas a couple of years ago and I found it to be a great way to just zone out and relax. Since then, I've purchased the UCS Millennium Falcon and my wife has given me that green Lamborghini and the UCS Star Wars A-wing. I'm TRYING to save the Millennium Falcon for later to build with my kids but the box tempts me everyday 😂

I recently came across someone's REALLY cool Saturn V display....

Love it @GuyIncognit0! I’ve not got any of the super large SW sets but I can totally appreciate them. They must be Such satisfying builds. The smaller £140 (75288) AT-AT does reside on a shelf here though 😁

I’m trying to convince myself it’s ok to splurge on the new Lion Knights Castle (it’s not, but I’ll convince myself eventually 😂). I recently went through a big Technic stage and bought up quite a few of those sets, but I’m leaning more towards geeking out now like with Steelbooks, and back tracking old sets on top of MOC’s.

A few weeks ago, I dug out all of my old original Lego Spacemen and tried to put them all back together again and see what I was missing (only need 1 helmet, 2 visors and a pair of hands 😂). Then I made the mistake of watching some collectors videos on YouTube, then I wound up digging my original instructions out and am now hell bent on collecting all the original Lego Blacktron sets. Think I only need two tbf, but it will cost an arm and a leg to find all those parts in good condition. Next I’ll dig out my original Lego Knights and do the same.

The more videos you watch (and Lego Masters) the more obvious it becomes that we all do the same thing. Childhoods with Lego ultimately comes back around again as we become adults. Though they have clearly cornered the market there a-la the SW sets and the Ecto-1 as above just a few examples. The 1989 Batmobile, Batwing and the Tumbler are all also drool worthy sets for us “Adults”.

In all honesty, I am getting more enjoyment out of Lego right now than I am with Steelbook collecting. Especially when you’re hunting for specific bricks rather than complete FS. Probably because it’s directly linked back to our childhood memories. In terms of Steelbooks, collecting Marvel for example is very satisfying but naturally the movies themselves are fresh in memory. Seeing certain Lego sets again are like rediscovering long lost treasure. 😂

That display is awesome. I'll show this to my Dad as I recently got him the Saturn V for his birthday.

That Charger looks awesome mate 👍

I think Ecto 1 should look great on display. That's if the kids don't get their hands on it! 😂

Hope you get it ticked off your wish list.

I had quite a few sets back in the day but sold them all many years ago. I had the old school Police, fire station, Shell petrol stations etc. I've gone to the trouble of looking them up on ebay and Google images and I'm having major flashbacks here. They may look old school by todays standards but I loved these back in the day and played with them a lot. Man, so many memories right here.

But the one item I could never part with was  the 90's pirate ship. It is fully complete and built up with original lego box next to it. I've hidden it away up in the loft away from young hands. I do bring it down and let them play with it now and again but I make sure I'm watching them and ready ro repair it. These go for over £350 on ebay when I last looked.

I also had the Elderado fortress and regret selling it as it went well with the pirate ship....

Duuuuuude!!!

Ohhh Man, I still have that Police Station! Funny enough, when Sheldon goes home in The Big Bang Theory, he sits and builds that exact set! 😁

I also have the Hospital. I have a couple of fire engines, but never had the Fire Station.

As for the Pirate Ship and Fort, Wow. So pleased you’ve kept that ship. I always wanted it but never got it. I had the smaller Pirates sets but sadly those sets were mistakenly given to my nephew, which by the time I’d realised they were long gone. Still have everything else though. 😊👍🏼

Btw, here is my “attempt” at Ecto-1 a few years ago before it was released as a set. 🤭 Mines not quite as good 😂

Sounds like you're getting yourself into some trouble looking for some original lego sets, lol. I'm sure that will get expensive real quick.

I agree on getting more pleasure out of the Lego sets. They really do calm me down if I'm having a stressful day as there's nothing to think about. Just follow the instructions and enjoy the process. I find the opposite to be true with steelbooks. I'm unfortunately an "analysis paralysis" kind of guy and have a hard time choosing which edition I want to order/keep.

With Lego it's nice and simple 😂

I've been eyeing the huge AT-AT, Optimus Prime, and the Delorean lately. They have us 80s kids in their sights right now but it sure is fun to reengage with childhood interests!

Holy crap! I remember that thing!  I always wanted it but, alas, it was not meant to be. That's great that you've held onto it all these years and now your kids get to play with it.
