Hi everybody.

 

In Spain today is bank holiday, the day when people gather with their families to remember their dead, or mainly, in which they go to the cemeteries to put flowers on the graves.

 

Even so, sometimes I feel that those things are being lost, in the end for the majority it's only one more holiday; and even the celebrations are more standard, about Halloween, but other traditions outside the industrial canon are being lost.

 

I live in the northwest of Spain, in Galicia, and we have some nice traditions about this day of death, from a culture full of leyends; but today the new young generations only knows about industrial Halloween masks, or a second thematic carnival.

 

It's not that that's bad, because it's a lot of fun, but sometimes I miss that people value their own traditions a little more, that they know how to make all this compatible. 

 

One day someone will have to make a film about our "Santa Compaña" (=Holy Company), that procession of the dead with unfinished affairs led by a living person in front, that if they find you... they let him free and you have to replace him being the head of the procession until the next substitution.

I know there are similar traditions elsewhere, but still, sometimes I feel like screenwriters should travel more.
