Also last week, my copy of the Zavvi special collector’s edition of First Blood finally arrived.

 

I also snagged a copy of the Fright Night steelbook autographed by Tom Holland and a copy of one of the most beautiful mass market steels I’ve seen - Black Swan

Feels like it's not because it isn't, just a normal CE really. Rambo is so far the only "EB" release after The Hut Group acquired them.

Civil War is one of those instances where I don’t like any of the releases in its entirety.

 

Blufans? Great steel but I don’t like the slips. WeET? The opposite problem with a nice slip but “meh” steel. FAC? I like the FS but, again, bad (the worst imo) steel.

 

I saw this 1/4 slip on eBay and threw out what I thought was a low bid but wound up winning. So now I’m in the thick of it.

 

I try to stick to one edition per Marvel film but I can feel those who “Frankenstein” editions staring at me like…

Yep... I liked it... I think over all it was mixed reviews, but everyone is entitled to their opinions for sure 👍 I didn't know that about Zelda... very cool!

MANTA LAB : ME13 : War for the Planet of the Apes : Full Slip : 2D + 4K

 

A nice edition.  Some really great texture on the full slip and some nice raised spot gloss (whatever this technique is called).

The detail in the horses moving through the mouth on the cover is particularly nice.

 

My only comment with this one, like most of these editions, is the inconsistent printing on the cards.

The character cards are great, smaller size with the white rounded border, and the printing is pretty decent. Most of these were probably sourced from a set photographer, so the original file was probably a decent resolution.  The movie scene cards are not great, bad color balance, and some poor gamma, some light banding, and not great shadow rendering.

 

The steel is vivid and super punchy. The design is a bit obvious to me, but still well executed.

 

Another thing I notice about these Manta slips, is the lack of wrap lip on the back top or bottom.  On a busy design, that little edge on the back doesn't bother me so much, but on something this clean, the box has to be smooth all around to get the full effect in my opinion.

5 x 4K discs only in the Steelbook… as far as I know theres no Standard BD Steelbook book just the 4K…  theres also amaray BD , amaray 4K
