And here are the controversies I was talking about yesterday ...

Selecting a striker who fails a lot and leaving a striker (Aspas) at home who scores 40% more goals in league and needs half the time to score with Spain ... is not a good deal.

Right now the social networks and forums in Spain are crying out against Morata.

He has achieved something unprecedented in our history: being a country where people never agree on anything, and where there is never consensus on any type of situation, he regularly convinces everyone that he should not be there.

Either he scores today, or after that grotesque lost opportunity supporters may end up whistling at him. In the last preparation match, even his own fans in Madrid (he is from Madrid, and he played for two Madrid teams) ended up booing him ...

Morata is certainly a strange striker, I still don't understand what he does at Juventus. I remember when Juve played Barcelona in the Champions League, Morata scored three goals..... but all three are offside :)

That's the fact...

In Spain he has a lot of marketing power because his father is a very powerful journalist, and media talk more about him with bad numbers than about another who breaks a record, but in Italy ...

that Juve pay 10 million for each year of Morata's loan ...

is burn money

nosense

By the figures he gives you can easily sign someone better, without spending much...

In fact, in Spain he has never been among the top scorers. In his best year he was one more next to the middle of the table.

This game is quite fascinating. You fully expect Spain to score and win (I am with you @Noir21 & @Casiusco) But I can equally see Sweden nicking this. Can you feel it @R1s1ngs0n? 😁

So Spain basically plays with one goalkeeper, nine midfielders and one lame duck at the front. Goalscoring is apparently not a requirement to get into this team.

Man of the match is Sweden's goalkeeper - amazing saves.

Asmy predictions for the first two games today went totally wrong, I changed from 1-1 to 2-0 about 17 minutes before the game. Never again will I do that. 🤦‍♂️😅

And the worst part is that NO ONE put a draw on this game so it was a great opportunity to climb the rankings. But at least everyone got screwed 😅

@romain

Now all you understand the Spanish fans a little more ...

Luis Enrique, the coach, wanted to be the protagonist, the star, and show the world that he is the boss, and that he can do whatever he wants.

For example, not taking Real Madrid players, or almost not taking Sevilla players, or others who are on fire.

One of his most controversial decisions -more today, now the big conversation in Spain- has been not to led Iago Aspas, the Spanish striker with the best figures in the last five years, and the only Spanish player who has scored at least 14 goals playing in a big league in all and each of the last six years, with Lewandowski, Salah, Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, and Luis Suárez. Nobody else.

Today he is on vacation. A humble, hardworking player from a small team (my team), far away from marketing circles.

And during the game it was a trending topic in Spain. And Morata has been whistled in the stadium.

Everything according to the planned script.

As for the game itself, I liked Spain more than Sweden, but still very slow and very failing. Some will say here that the result is unfair, as the coach already said..., very unfair for him; but if you miss the chances you cannot complain. Each one did what they had to do, and the result is fair.

Spain is not a candidate. It's official.

PD: On the Spanish strikers ...

2020-21 Season. Spanish League Aspas 14 goals and 13 assists; Morata Italian League, 11 goals 10 assists.
2019-20 Season: Aspas 14 goals 3 assists, Morata 12 goals 2 assists.
2018-19 Season: Aspas 20 goals 6 assists, Morata 5 goals 3 assists.
2017-18 Season: Aspas 22 goals 5 assists, Morata 11 goals 6 assists.
Total of the last years: Aspas 70 goals 27 assists, Morata 38 goals 21 Assists. Last four years, Aspas has scored 22 more goals than Morata in a high-level league, 46% more.

Minutes needed to reach 6 goals with Spain. Aspas: 386, Morata 662. Morata has needed 71% more to score the same goals.

Which one does the Spanish coach officially lead in the position of strikers? Who is the usual Spain striker last years following his results? Morata, obvirously, with his great figures; and with him Sanabria (2 goals throughout the season at PSG) and Adama Traoré (4 goals in the Premier).
The only one who deserves to be there is Gerard Moreno, 23 league goals and goals winning the Europe League. But it's not enough.

And that's because today the attack has failed. The day we play against a stronger team, the defense will fail and we will think where Nacho and Sergio Ramos are, or others ...

@Casiusco @Noir21

I just want to assure you and all other Spanish members than in no way do I mean to disrespect or diss the your national team... that honor is reserved exclusively for England 😝

It's just that the memory of Iniesta, Javi and co. is still fresh in my mind, so seeing this kind of performance from La Furia Roja is perplexing, to say the least.

For what it is worth, I am backing France over Germany. But given my predictions so far, that could be the kiss of death. 😂

It has become very clear that with Morata we have nothing to do.

A player who is unable to shoot at goal cannot be ahead of another who has been champion and top scorer in the Europa League, for example, or as @Casiusco has said, Iago Aspas.

Either the line-up changes a lot for the second game or it looks very bad.

And thanks to the fact that they have not made the two clear ones that they have had, it becomes another team of a higher level (without detracting from Sweden) and we lost 2-0.

Don't worry.

You can unleash your instincts. (I thought I would never tell you this...  :D)

The general opinion in Spain is that with this team we are not going anywhere.

That the selection of players is a disaster.

And that not only do we play very badly, but we can't play much better.

Nothing you say, however cruel it may be, is going to be harsher than what people are saying right now in Spain.

Think that in the last training game the team was already whistled, especially Morata ...

That before to start a tournament like this is already very illustrative. And unknown.

Now you understand why a lot of people in Spain want the team to lose: so they can kick the coach out without hesitation.

yes, I understand you perfectly

this is not the Spain of the past
at the same time you had one of the best generations of all time in my opinion

but Luis Enrique made a mistake in the choice of his men
Sarabia for example I can speak about him because I saw him playing all year, he was not at the level and often substitute even 4th choice in the offensive players behind players like draxler....

even if he makes a pretty good game tonight
but you can't take players who have played so little into a competition like this

I found that tonight, there is a real lack of intensity in your game, plays a lot laterally and it lacks creativity too, especially in the middle

it's not the tiki taka of the great years

I wish you a good continuation in the competition
