I wouldn't recommend starting a fight with a Kangaroo...unless you want to get your sh*t kicked in.

You want to defuse the situation, like this guy:

Consider it a free (and valuable) lesson. 😁

Love to see a fight between man and beast 😂 😆 😛

PSYCHO CHALLENGE - WEEK 24

"And The OSCAR Goes To...."

Academy Awards Oscar GIF

To celebrate the 95th annual Academy Awards, it seemed only fitting that this week’s challenge ask participants to select their five (5) favorite academy award winning films from over the years.

Winning in any category will count, though I think it would be more fun to keep it to the major categories (picture, directing, acting and cinematography).  Being nominated doesn’t count since no one likes a loser, lol.

In addition to the five (5) winners, you must also present your favorite film that you think SHOULD have won best picture.  This film doesn’t need to have been nominated (but may have been) and is limited to best picture.

Submissions can be in any format (premiums, steelbooks, amarays).

Let’s see what you loved!

1) Blade Runner 2049

2) The Dark Knight

3) Inglourious Basterds

4) Return of the King

5) Saving Private Ryan

The winner in my heart? Gotta be Apollo 13! No offense to Braveheart.

Better get this in before thinking about the latest challenge.

Challenge 23 - The Best of the Best

Thank you @Fortis93 A bit of a head scratcher if I am honest, as my favourite movies span across various genres. Even in my submission below, you could argue some are Sci-Fi & some are Comic Book. I could throw in here some Fantasy movies such as LotR or Clash of the Titans, but ultimately I Love Monster Movies. It doesn’t particularly matter what the genre is, but I am drawn toward the “Big Bad”. There are also other titles I love and would add in my submission, but sadly I do not own them (Yet) such as Kong Skull Island or Grabbers.

So here is a little collection of movies that I like, because of the ‘Monsters’. I certainly wouldn’t put Venom 2 in my favourite movies, but added it in as an example of the draw that a Quality “Big Bad” has for myself. I love Sammael the Hell Hound in Hellboy, or the Kaiju in Pacific Rim. Any Godzilla flick. Ultimately If the Monster is decent, then chances are I will like the movie to some degree.

Oscars! I had a feeling this would be a challenge at some point! Thanks @Gary K! Here are my Oscar winners:

These are all Best Picture winners, as I'm sure you all know! Requiem for a Dream is my overlooked movie. It is very hard to argue it should win over American Beauty, but in my personal opinion, it is a better movie. However, it got completely snubbed by the Oscars that year, possibly because of the subject matter. Although Julia Roberts did perform exceptionally in Erin Brockovich, I feel Ellen Burstyn deserved Best Supporting Actress. I've never seen The Red Violin, but Clint Mansell's haunting score didn't even get nominated for Best Score!

Anyways, that's my submission, thanks for looking!

Not only was Ellen Burstyn completely robbed, in my opinion she gave what is arguably the single greatest performance ever by an actress. I didn’t really care for the movie but she was beyond phenomenal.

PSYCHO CHALLENGE - WEEK 24

"And The OSCAR Goes To...."

Thank you @Gary K Great Challenge!

So as it goes, I only currently own 3 Academy Award Best Screen Winners, but Green Book is High on my Premium Wish list… 🤞🏼

I have previously owned Rocky, The Silence of the Lambs, Titanic, LotR RotK & The Departed but all on VHS or DVD and they all went when I last moved home. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Next I’ll plump for what I consider to be the Best Animated Feature Award Winner, out of all of them.

And I have to give the nod to these two for both both picking up 3 Oscars a piece. It’s only now I am realising just how much I need to upgrade these to a decent level. Missed out on both FAC releases sadly, so hoping for a new release from someone else at some point.

As for my deserved winner(s)…

1991 - Goodfellas > Dances with Wolves

1995 - Pulp Fiction > Forrest Gump

2013 - Django > Argo

2017 - Arrival > Moonlight

2020 - 1917 > Parasite.

…IMO 🤫

Here ya go my friend.  Upgrade awaits.  (I'm assuming you mean King Kong)

Thanks for looking out for me mate, really appreciate that. 👍🏼

But chuck in shipping to the UK and that’s a bit too rich for my pockets I’m afraid. I love the movie, but I’m not so fussed about weighty wooden boxes personally. A simple FS would be plenty adequate for my simple collection.

Challenge 23:

My favorite genre is the superhero genre.  It is what started me in collecting steelbooks and then premiums.  My wife and I have seen every single MCU movie in theaters, and my kids have seen all of them as well from home, and I am pretty sure they adore them as much as me 🤩.  Newer ones seem to be losing the magic unfortunately, but I haven't given up hope.

My pictures are a little out of order, but the first superhero movie that made me fall in love with the superhero genre was Spiderman 2.  This was the best one for me until Iron Man was released followed by The Dark Knight.  Didn't think anything could compare to the Dark Knight until MCU went into overdrive and released one of my all time favorite movies The Avengers.  MCU continued to roll out incredible movies as part of the Infinity Saga, which built up to my favorite MCU movie of all time in Infinity War.
