I adore the Chaplin editions, especially City Lights. The definition of a classy fullslip. The Oldboy keepcase is also a favorite of mine.

Man, I wish PA would finally announce something to get excited about. It's been far too long since we heard from them.

Seeing the Chaplin editions makes me regret selling them a few years ago. Still have Oldboy though!

I only bought City Lights as it is my favorite Chaplin and one of my favorite movies of all time. I got rid of my Criterion which has a far, far superior transfer quality, but can't hold a candle to this one in terms of packaging.

^^ Um why would you not put the Crit Blu inside the PA set then? 🤔

So you too are one of those guys who make weird swapping experiments with their editions?! That's a big no-no for me.

When I buy an edition, each one of its components (yes, even the disc) has to stay in its original package.

To give you an example, I wouldn't even think of swapping discs between identical steelbooks from different countries.

^^ I can understand, to a degree, your mindset @R1s1ngs0n but yes, I would rather have a "best edition" more than an original edition if I feel a movie warrants such.

I've 'Frankensteined' a few editions in my time and truth be known, am quite happy with the results.

Especially if I have friends over for a movie night.

They inevitably want to ogle the beautiful case the film came in and yet, still watch the best rendition of the film I can display.

I can satisfy both desires without combing through my shelves for each, heh.

OCD I can fortunately say, has never been one of my disabilities ( I have a sufficient quantity of others).

I think the part where you stated "I got rid of my Criterion which has a far, far superior transfer quality" is what mystified me most...

Of course, you do you my Buddy, no worries!  😀

One of the stars that held a very significant role in 47 Ronin (to me at least) is Gong Li (portraying the evil witch).

I just wanted to quickly mention, one of her earlier films that is coming up for release in a lovely spec ed, courtesy of Nova.

When you look up "Sultry" in the Dictionary, her pic is beside the entry. 😉

Interesting. Not a movie I'm familiar with, but thanks for the suggestion! Definitely going to have to take a closer look at that.

Ah, totally worth it! Need some of Chronicles and Riddick as well. Maybe FAC can add some to their already extremely crowded lineup 🤣

Agreed! I know not everyone is a fan of Chronicles of Riddick, but I really enjoyed that one too. There's not a premium out there that I know of, at least.

Good Evening My Friends;  🙂

Just wanted to take a hot moment to continue providing pics of some of my latest worthwhile purchases (well, worthwhile to me at least, heh).

To Start;

- Session 9; Second Sight Spec ed ( I truly love this film and can't think of a better House to provide such a stellar copy)

- I Am Legend; HDZ Silver, Lenti ( though I still prefer the Price rendition, I very much appreciate what they did here, beats "Omega Man" that's for sure!)

- Suspiria; The On, Lenti Spec ed.  both the 2018 remake + 1977 Original ( I have the German Ult set but LOVE the Lenti on this so...)

- Balloon; Disk Kino, spec ed. (Yet to watch but the premise of earthen daily life in Tibet is captivating, eager to spool this up)

- End Game; Disk Kino, spec ed. ( another I'm as yet unfamiliar with but ideally, that won't be for long. No Thanos, as I understand...)

- The Coachman; KFA, (another blind buy. The premise of a down to earth peasant, dealing with large issues just resonates with me. edit-also, can't lie, the pic of the gent on the cover reminds me so much of William Conrad I was immediately smitten, heh)

Also;

- Living Dead at Manchester Morgue; Synapse Spec ed Steel. (just too cray-cray for words...)

- All The Haunts Be Ours; Severin Spec ed Box Set. (Oh...My... this is incredibly incredible. 20 films on my fave topic, medieval witchcraft. Gonna be a long night...)

- The Kindred; Synapse Spec ed Steel. (oldie but goodie creature feature!)

- Halloween (2018); MoC Spec ed Steel. (It is what it is, better than its successor I'd at least suggest. 😉)

- Krampus (Naughty Cut); Shout. Slip-Amaray (+Poster). Best of the Christmas terrors, imho (mind, it competes with "Rare Exports" for that title)

- Casino Royale; MoC Spec ed Steel. ( Craig's first foray in to the role of the iconic 007. Still the best, imho of his outings. And, I suppose if you're a masochist, the best 'sex scene' in Bond history...).
