  1. Ok, 2nd watch for me but it’s so good. Great revenge flick, also made me laugh out loud multiple times.
  2. I’m going to try to get better at recommending movies for you. I’d already seen this, put it on to fall asleep last night, ended up watching the whole thing again. It’s a combination of revenge movie and comedy about dorks:
  3. Oh: I don’t know who might be into this, I have to take my mother for her birthday: Gone With The Wind is coming back to some Regal theaters (maybe others as well but that’s who we’ve got locally), 4/7, 4/8 & 4/10.
  4. I just got a text from Walmart telling me that The Abyss was just delivered. I ordered Aliens from Diabolik and it hasn’t shipped, currently says “back ordered”. Wonder if there’s some delay with Aliens, just generally.
  5. One thing the Oscars have been good for is occasionally alerting me to a good documentary or foreign language film that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Though when it comes to foreign languages nominees, I’m usually reading enough critics to pick up on the best of them.
  6. There was a time when I largely agreed with your final paragraph. But now when I look back at that particular Oscar field, The Departed is the best movie among that group.
  7. It would be hard imagine William H. Macy never seeing this movie before making Fargo, because Duryea has the same sound and mannerisms in this movie to the point that it’s uncanny. Great movie. Also, fwiw, it’s a shame Kino is so no frills, but they absolutely nail every transfer. Also put in the first bit of Face/Off and it looks amazing.
  8. Thank you! That’s exactly what I know him from.
  9. Now I’m paranoid and I can’t find the group anymore to see if my name is on it. Am I in this one? I meant to buy, but I don’t want to join up accidentally and ask for 2.
  10. What is that gif from? I can’t think what I recognize that guy from and it’s driving me crazy.
  11. Yes! It’s probably available in lots of places, obviously, I had only run across it at one in the US.
  12. Am I allowed to mention that someone else has a limited edition set that includes the Steelbook? Gotta admit that for the price I’m digging the Bourne Collection backpack at Gruv. 3/$30 is a sweet deal too.
  13. So somehow my son has only seen bits and pieces of the Dark Knight trilogy, which means that I’ve failed as a father! We kicked this bad boy in last night: May have to watch it again when the Manta Lab shows up. Just a great movie.
  14. It was amazing. Going to be between 62 and 68 degrees overnight, low of 61 around 6am, thinking of leaving some windows open!
  15. Actually not a bad day. Progress at work, got in some exercise with my son on a 75 degree evening. Good stuff.
  16. Anyone seen High Life? The only Claire Denis I’ve watched is Beau Travail, I saw High Life listed today as a recommendation for people who liked Dune.
  17. Folks, if it’s in any way possible for you to see Dune 2 in IMAX, you owe it to yourself to do so.
  18. Considering I just saw it about 10 years ago, I doubt if I’ve seen the theatrical version. The version that’s available is excellent, but I’d love to compare as well.
  19. As Clint Eastwood said, “a man’s got to learn his limitations”. For some reason, some of the films that fascinate me the most are about men learning their limitations and watching how they react.
  20. I hope this means a disc isn’t far behind . . . From my youth, I assumed this movie was boring Oscar bait, never watched it until I was in my late 30s. I was so wrong; it’s a freaking entertainment, a really well done one.
