  1. Thank you! The French translated as “Part Two Fnac Special Edition Box Designed by Laurent Durieux Steelbook”. There weren’t any pics so I wasn’t sure what that entailed. (Sorry about the script here, copy & paste screwup)
  2. What’s the coffee table set? I think I found it on FNAC but I’m not confident I’m understanding fully what it is.
  3. I’m with you, haven’t had a day off in weeks (though a couple of the Sundays were only 4-5 hours), been too busy to do much watching *or* socializing online. I need to look into this bunny thing that starts in March. Have the emails, haven’t followed the links.
  4. I read this book when I was a teenager, then saw the movie. It’s hard for the movie to build up as slowly with “I’m not a person who believes this nutty stuff, how am I becoming this person?” I haven’t looked at what he’s up to lately but at the time Streiber, who was already a well known writer of stories nothing like this one, claimed this really happened to him.
  5. I love that movie and I find that everyone who discovers it likes it. In a sane world that movie is a hit, and we’re talking about sequels.
  6. Can you catch on to what’s happening if you do it that way? I have to be honest, I started season 1, got 3+ episodes in and just sort of . . . had more interesting things in my queue.
  7. People who love Tenet seem to *really, really* love Tenet: https://www.rogerebert.com/features/tenet-rerelease It’s lower tier Nolan for me but I do wonder how it would be in IMAX. I saw Oppenheimer in 70mm IMAX, and I’ve seen it on a very nice setup at home, and it makes a difference. You can tell it was made with the format in mind.
  8. I don’t know anyone who’s seen this who didn’t enjoy it. Of course, says some things about my friends who would watch this movie as much as it says things about the film but still. The vibe is as important as the narrative, and it’s a cool vibe.
  9. I’m not sure the best place to post it but Diabolik (probably others too) has the Ealing comedies for pre-order, especially cool version of Lavender Hill Mob. Also, Arrow is releasing (also available at Diabolik) The Long Good Friday in 4K. I love watching that movie just for the Hoskins and Mirren performances.
  10. I want to be right next to those handicapped seats in the center, that’s my sweet spot. I also have long legs; I’m only 6’1” but I’m 75% leg, 25% torso & head. I like being able to stretch my legs out without annoying anyone. Annoying anyone with my feet and legs, anyway. I’ll probably find some other way to annoy them. I fully expect to call out during Dune “Usil has called the big one!”
  11. Unless I’m going to see something my son wants to see, I pretty much only go when I’m seeing something in IMAX. I always sit in the first or second row up from center. I want to be overwhelmed by the screen but I don’t want to crane my neck.
  12. This seemed so unlikely to me that I checked IMDb and they’re showing almost $94 million. Unbelievable that movie has made so much money. I’m happy for Lanthimos; I loved The Lobster, liked The Favourite pretty well. Makes me happy when good directors make enough money to probably buy themselves some creative freedom.
  13. That’s amazing! If I’d had that opportunity I would’ve jumped on it too. I was getting tickets for a friend and I, we saw part 1 together. Then my niece wanted to see part 1 to see if she was interested; she loved it. So finally my son, who was never interested in Dune, decided he wanted to see it. He liked it and wanted to go too, but by the time we got through his viewing (scheduling around school night bedtimes, other activities etc), there weren’t even any decent seats left at a showing before Saturday. I wanted to see it opening night but oh well; taking an excited group on Saturday. I want one of the already infamous popcorn buckets (and my son and I always get any special popcorn bucket that’s available), but I expect it to be sold out when we get there.
  14. “I’m NOT going to read any Dune reviews, I’m NOT going to read any Dune reviews, I’m NOT going to read any Dune reviews.” Have IMAX tickets to see it next Saturday afternoon. I watched the short sneak preview released last week and now I’m going to try to avoid hearing anything else. Wish me luck.
  15. Kang was really intriguing in Loki, but they kind of screwed it up in Quantumania, pew-pew fisticuffs shouldn’t be a temporal master’s bag, in my opinion. Though the comics kind of tended to do the same thing with him. Really intrigued by an A24 Alex Garland war film. Can’t wait to hear more. James Brolin is one of those actors who just has great taste in projects and partners. I’ve enjoyed practically everything he’s been in. Julia Fox in Uncut Gems . . . oh my. Really cool to see a combo of her, Poole and horror.
  16. Thunderbolts, Agatha and reshoots, featuring a lot of characters that most people aren’t familiar with, it doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. But I hope they pull it off.
  17. Hell yes. I hadn’t even heard this one rumored, have it on my wish list.
  18. Just came here to post this. Surely we don’t have to worry about WB writing this one off for tax purposes? I kid, I hope. “The new January 2025 release date also allows “Mickey 17” to open in IMAX, which wouldn’t have been possible any earlier because all those dates were previously committed to other titles.” I hope this means they’re convinced it’s going to kill in IMAX. But March 2024 to January 2025 is a huge bump.
  19. Yeah, it’s not great. I’d love to have Starman and Punch Drunk Love but not at that price, and who knows if the transfer is any good? But someone might want it.
  20. Drives me crazy they haven’t done more with all the great 20th Century Fox movies from the actual 20th century, not just on disc but streaming as well.
