  1. That sounds amazing! I love David Lynch, yet I’ve only seen 2 of his movies in the theater. What a great opportunity. @hansreinhardt, one of my best friends lives in Chicago and we’ve been trying to find an excuse for me to visit with the kiddo and have fun as adults. I just texted him and told him to keep an eye out for this festival this year, would be a perfect excuse. Thank you for telling me. Found this story, granted it’s from years ago, but how cool would it be to see Krull in 70mm? Along with obvious choices like Lawrence of Arabia (in the running for my favorite movie of all time): https://www.rogerebert.com/features/70mm-film-festival-the-ultimate-edition-arrives-at-chicagos-music-box-theater
  2. Well this is a surprise: https://variety.com/2024/film/markets-festivals/alex-cox-directing-kiowa-gordon-repo-man-sequel-1235911445/?ICID=ref_fark
  3. I’d watch Vanessa Kirby in anything. I think I’d watch Kids again if Vanessa Kirby were in it.
  4. I’m so jealous. I’ve heard of the Music Box so many times, from listening to the Filmspotting podcast. My son and I were in Chicago for his spring break last year. I wanted to go but the only movie they were showing that I thought would interest him was The Thing, coincidentally enough, and it was showing at the same time as a Bulls game that we had tickets to. I would love to see Once Upon A Time or Days of Heaven in the theater. Actually saw Untouchables at the theater back when it came out, loved it. I would’ve been 12. The Thing is one of the first non-Star Wars movies that I remember seeing, saw it at the drive-in with my dad, would’ve been 7. I know I saw other movies at the drive in with him (I remember The Car, of all things, must have been a re-release because I was 2 or 3 at the original release), but The Thing is especially memorable.
  5. Ok, I don’t *think* this is going to be necessary, we’ll find out when I get home tonight, but can you use 2 releases of the same movie? I think I’m up to 3 different releases of BR 2049 at this point, for instance.
  6. I’m such a naïf that I was completely unaware of this black magic
  7. Ok, their US store has significantly improved their selection it looks like.
  8. I just started buying 4K early last year, bought several things from Zavvi UK, was heartbroken when I went to buy something from them one day and couldn’t. I do wish Zavvi US would build as good a selection, but I haven’t checked out either one in a while.
  9. Maybe I spoke too soon. These guys are usually pretty reliable but even the quote here is “Also today, several Bits readers have reported to us that Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report (2002) is now available in 4K Ultra HD on Paramount+ and Kaleidescape” https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-two-cents/021224-1630 I don’t know what a Kaleidescape is, but may have to check it out.
  10. Never see Hacksaw Ridge; safe to say that someone who likes Lone Survivor would probably like it? Thanks for the update, that steel looks great.
  11. Minority Report available in 4K on Paramount+; surely there’s a disc on the way.
  12. They should be out for revenge on a storm system that took Paxton.
  13. Same here. Things usually get hung up in customs in Shanghai.
  14. So I can’t stress enough how nice the texture feels, it’s luxurious. The gloss is very, very high gloss and the embossments are really nice. Really like the small pictures covered in gloss on the back. Just one tiny flaw and one strange thing. The tiny flaw is the hexagonal gloss here missing the mark a bit: The strange thing: the bottom of the Blu Ray looks like a family had a contest to see who could leave the most fingerprints on it. Pic doesn’t do it justice, I was too lazy to try to get the perfect angle/multiple angles. I suspect they had trouble keeping the disc in, the way the disc clips is unconventional. Overall very happy with it. The way it feels in your hands and the obviously gorgeous color and gloss are what stands out.
  15. That’s what I get for not having seen Clerks 3. Was pretty smart, naming the movie after the number of people who were going to see it. (Kidding, I mostly like Smith, second Mike in wishing for a Dogma release)
  16. I posted this, left work for lunch, stopped by the place where most of my packages show up and . . . Didn’t even realized it had shipped! Thanks dope man! I mean, um, MP! Great packaging as always, more pics later.
  17. Took me a bit but using the actors I found it. It’s called Final Prayer on IMDb.
  18. Anyone here seen this? Never heard of it until today but sounds potentially interesting:
  19. There are weird tax incentives involved. The studio probably stands to make more on the write off than on those offers. It’s messed up.
  20. Tokyo Vice is back! I had no idea that it was even close to returning until I got an alert from Max last night. Really enjoyed the first season. Michael Mann produced series, he directed the first hour of the first season. Not sure if he’s directing any of this season or not.
  21. This would’ve come out my first year in college, saw it in the theater. I liked the movie, but the real star of the moment was the soundtrack. Every track was a collaboration between a rock/grunge/punk group and a hip hop artist. One of the all time great soundtracks.
  22. All in on this one. “Their most recent was the 2006 critical and box office hit, Inside Man. Their other movies include Mo’ Better Blues, Malcolm X and He Got Game.” That, my friends, is a list of damn good movies.
