couple of arrivals.
Thank you @Masterblaster and the MP crew for another smooth GB, I received my Arrival OC and it's in perfect condition.
Also received, the Sting OAB 51 courtesy of my good friend @Reagh. This marks my 25th Blufans release so I will have to post in the awards section later!

thank you @extantsrevenge for the 30th challenge: The Villains!
My favorite would go to Art the Clown and honorable mentions to all the above. Pennywise, Immortan Joe, the Joker, Micheal Myers, Darth Vader and Xenomorphs all also rate very high on the list.

Thanks @nathan_s82 for your pick, Dark Water (2002), I rented it last night on Amazon. I didn't realize how many titles share this same name!
I saw this back in the early 2000's, and had not seen it since. I liked it then, and It was great to go back and watch it.
Well shot and well paced. With plenty of foreshadowing. It is a enjoyable film, I like pretty much anything J-horror (admittedly usually something darker), as this is a little light for my preferred taste, but that's all perspective. The fool of a manager adds a little comic relief to the film as well.
I enjoyed it, and would watch it again 👍

@BreakBeatDJ Very nice write up on both Climax and Insomnia. Thoroughly enjoyed reading them 👍
In regards to Climax, I agree heavily with your point "but many many times, I just didn't believe they were experiencing what they were indicating they were experiencing" Literally I would of never said LSD in regards to their behavior/actions, what they were experiencing is completely unbeknownst to me.
I also think the arrangement of the books during the interviews was well done. I was trying to read them all for sure!

Thank you @Veum for your selection, Insomnia (1997), I rented this through Amazon last night.
I had only seen Nolans version of the film, so it was enjoyable to revisit the story with the original director, liking that film I honestly should have already seen this.
Love the premise of a crime being committed by someone trusted to solve them. Well casted all around, Stellan Skarsgards performance is believable, you can feel his guilt.
That being said though, I did prefer the tweaks Nolan made to the story (possibly because I saw that version first). I found myself missing scenes like the chase scene across the floating logs.
Great pick mate 👌 , 7/10
***************************************************************************************************************************************************
Next up, thanks @Casiusco for your pick, Climax.
I just watched this, rented on Amazon also.
I had never seen this before, so I went into it totally blind, didn't read any reviews prior / etc.
I watched the entire movie. I think the overall scope could of been conveyed in a much shorter amount of time. And if they are implying that it was spiked with 'LSD' than I'm not buying it. That's not how you would act. I was almost under the impression that it was bath salts because they were mindless screeching zombies, with spastic actions. But toward the end the weren't completely 'mindless' so I was like, wtf are they on, When they showed LSD I was just shaking my head. BS.
The start of the film did have some merit, the choreography, dancers, and camera work were all top notch, incredible even.
But the characters were largely all forgettable to me, and maybe that was the point for a character(s) to not stand out, The whole film felt like more of an experience than a movie, and depending on your mode that could help you enjoy it. I need a more story driven film.
I'm glad I watched it, but I won't be revisiting it, 5/10.

@BreakBeatDJ I actually hadn’t read new responses in the thread until you tagged me but will catch up today.
Definitely looking forward to reading your response and impression of the film. I’m on mobile during the day and prefer reading on my desktop.
I tend to catchup at night. I don’t work long days, but I work everyday, 7 days a week. Last full day off was Christmas 2022.

Unfortunately & with a heavy heart I have decided that my time with MP must come to an end. My time here has been a joy in my life that couldn’t have come at a better time. For many years before joining this community, I was in a very dark place, struggling with PTSD, anxiety, addiction and severe depression. This community was a lighthouse for me. Recently that has slowly changed. The reasoning may seem petty to those who know of the chain of events that has led to this hard decision and in a way it probably is. But it affected me deeply. I took the advice of a couple of friends and tried to let the situation and emotions calm. Unfortunately I’m still just as bitter about it and find myself filling the hole in my soul with bad thoughts & slipping into routines that will have me back in a place where I narrowly escaped.
I know it’s silly to be so emotionally invested but it’s something that I cannot control and the more I have thought about it over these last two weeks I’ve realized that an apology wouldn’t make a difference even if it was offered.
In the end, no one here is to blame ….Nobody here caused my recent backslide. The blame is squarely on my shoulders & my miswired brain.
I will miss everyone of you more than you know.
Godspeed Psychos.
The beast is bitter, sinks its teeth in deep
She'll bite you while you're dreamin', send you off to your sleep and you carry, you carry on down that river deep
Reagh
I’m very sad to see you go @Reagh
I am not an overly social person, so the fact we hit it off as soon as I joined MP means something to me.
I am glad that our friendship will continue outside of MP.
wishing you nothing but the best,
-Zach

Let's give everyone another week to catch up (myself included) and view Insomnia & Climax.
It's been great fun to see this broad range of movies and hear everyone's thoughts!
I thought I'd recap where we are after the first 10 movies.
Many have been absent, which is fine, not meaning to shout them out, but . . .
REAGH'S PLATEAU: FILMS UNEARTHED '23 Films 1 - 10
I read the entire thread and tried to come up with a metric for those that liked/disliked a movie but gave it no rating. So, none of this is scientific.
Mulholland Drive is by far the most highly rated movie.
Solaris 2002 is the lowest rated movie so far.
The broadest range of ratings so far has been Man Bites Dog (low of 3, high of 9.5).
The most "average" (most were indifferent) movie so far was The Way Back.
The movie most "liked" has been Cinema Paradiso. (Although there was divergence between theatrical and extended cuts, with theatrical cut being generally preferred.)
The movie least "liked" was Man Bites Dog.
The reviewers who watched all the movies - @hal56, @hansreinhardt, @Reagh, @R1s1ngs0n, @Baphomet
(honorable mention to @Gary K because he watched the Dam Busters alternate)
@Baphomet had the most thorough and excellent reviews.
Title Views Ave (based only on those who scored)
01 Druk 2020 17 6.95
02 The Way Back 2020 16 6.11
03 Sorcerer 1977 16 7.30
04 Cinema Paradiso 1988 13 8.25
05 Revanche 2008 10 8.16

what a wild challenge for #28 with Best of the Worst - @hal56 and @extantsrevenge
This was not an easy challenge to complete, I don't have a lot of these films and if it weren't for Rambo II/III I'd never make the cut, even then, I'm pushing it.
I present to you, worst Actors and Actresses.
1) Rambo First Blood Part II
2) Rambo III
3) Machete
4) Battleship
5) Morbius
I agree with others and feel like Rambo First Blood Part II is the least deserving of worst film

I have a question for all OC collectors, would you consider the new Steelbook Boxsets we recently get from several movie series a OC?
Like the Jurassic Park Set with 6 Movies
or the Monsterverse, Mad Max Sets for example.
Are they premium enough to pass as a OC, or are they just a nice Boxset? I mean the term OC is normally reserved for a Premium release with several editions for the same movie. We have already seen some premiums that are different like the Blufans Mad Max Set which I would call a OC for the Mad Max Series or the UHD The Dark Knight Set which also only has each movie included in 1 edition.
Let me know what you think and if you would allow these Steelbook Collection Sets in this award.
I agree and I think sets like Blufans Mad Max, and UHDClub Mummy Trilogy should qualify as OC.
The ones with 1 edition only like UHD Dark Knight is a tough call.

thank you @Veum and @extantsrevenge for CHALLENGE 27 “VIGILANTE or REVENGE” 🩸 ⚔️🔫 🔨 🤲 🪓
I like this challenge, there are a lot of favorites of mine that would fall under that range of categories.
1) Cyborg
2) I Saw the Devil
3) Nobody
4) the Revenant
5) the Sting
There are many more that I could rewatch countless times.
-the Dark Knight Trilogy
-Kill Bill
-Upgrade
-Death Wish
-the Crow (watched this in a Drive-In back in 94)
But my absolute favorite revenge movie is I Saw the Devil, I have posted this film for other challenges too. It's one of my top 10 of all time.
