I have had a busy week, but I watched Sorcerer on Amazon last night, and also rewatched Wages of Fear (Criterion Blu-ray).

I had never seen Sorcerer, and found it intriguing that it's also based on the same source material as WoF. I didn't watch them back to back to necessarily compare them, moreso to see both takes on the story. I think they are both excellent.

While WoF is a more cinematic experience, it's also fairly straightforward. I can honestly that while I like both films, I do like that Sorcerer makes it feel like fate is more at play than say the capabilities of men, and also feel that it is more nuanced and deserves repeat viewings to appreciate fully. The main theme of nobody can escape their fate is perfectly portrayed. 

One of the better films I have seen in a while, I'd easily give it a 8/10. I'd rewatch this anyday. Thanks Gary!

IMORTANT FAC & BLACK BARONS GB UPDATE

 

I posted early that we would have an update on how we run the FAC & Black Barons GBs in the future.

 

As many will remember for different reasons (which I don't want to go through again), we often had problems with these GBs. As they are very small by Media Psychos standards, we simply can no longer invest as much time for them as we did in the past.

 

As the interested from UK and European members has gone down significantly, up to the point where it is almost non existent we have decided to concentrate on the USA for Filmarena in the future.

 

What does this mean?

 

For the UK we will only continue to offer the editions to the two Platinum Number members @ukade2327 and @Mac Hadfield. You will have to continue to take every release and can't skip any.

There will be no additional copies available for UK members.

 

For France/Europe I was planning with 1 Platinum Number member, sadly that member has not fulffiled his obligations towards MP and is no longer with us. This means that we might have 1 copy of the releases available in the future, but most likely that will be dropped soon.

 

Asia is at the moment like it has been in the last few month, we might have 1 spare copy of the releases available or not.

 

USA will now have more copies available, so chances for USA members will increase, as almost every number we have is now allocated to the USA. Anyway FAC has still given us the condition that we have to order all numbers for every releases, that means if the USA members don't oder enough we will lose some numbers and will have less on the next releases. 

 

Thanks to everyone that helped me in the past to move the editions on the different HUBs, sadly we ended up at this point anyway, but that is okay.

 

This change does not affect any of the previous GBs, only the new GBs we will have.

 

Later today we will launch the GB for BLACK BARONS #31 THE CONJURING: The Devil Made Me Do It, BLACK BARONS #32 A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, FAC #172 Cry Macho, FAC #173 The Little Things & FAC #174 The Shawshank Redemption.

If it would help with the USA numbers then I will add Cry macho and Shawshank to my request

@Reagh I think that my pick of movie will be Possessor by Brandon Cronenberg. It's been one of my favorite movies that have come out in the past couple of years and I can't wait for Infinity Pool to come out a little later this month, so the hype for that one made me realize this should be my pick here. Specifically the Uncut version, but the normal version should be fine too for those that can't find it.

Like many others my Dark Knight Trilogy from Blufans is now complete. I had to buy on the secondary market as I was not here for the GB.

I've only been doing this a little over a year, and from what I've seen from Blufans, they are in my top 2 for premium retailers.

You have good taste. 180g vinyl is a god send, amazing quality and not having to change sides constantly is the cherry on top haha. I don't collect records at the moment, I did once upon a time. I used to follow Stones Throw Records, and had all the Medicine Show limited vinyls, along with many others.  I think about getting back into collecting vinyl all the time tho. Right now for me it's pretty much Movies first and video games second, for my 'throw away budget' lol

Thank you @Fortis93 for your movie recommendation. I watched the Way Back by renting on Amazon.

It wasn't really up my alley, but Ben Affleck put on a fairly good performance. I thought the movie was going to hit it stride when he was first meeting the team, making a point out of Marcus and making Brandon the captain. But again it started to fall flat for me, with the drinking struggles etc. 

I'd rate it 6/10.

I wonder what all y'all will think of my suggestion 😃

the older I get the easier I find to control that tbh. I have rules with buying premiums, etc. 

I also just sold off 3/4 off my mondo steelbooks because I don't really care for them. it gets easier

Very glad to see this get a UHD club release. This is one of my favorites. While I get those that say some of the actors are over-rated, that does not apply to this film. I also don't get why you would buy something if you don't like the film. just my 2 cents.
