    Good Evening @RAK; (and friends)  🙂

    Yes, I've watched "Dog Soldiers" a number of times and own 3 copies of it (DVD, Scream Blu, and Koch (German) MediaBook Blu).

    I think it is absolutely excellent and certainly one of the better Werewolf films out there.

    I'll be picking up this 'Second Sight' edition as well and send my Scream! copy to the kids.

    One of the issues that was raised wrt the 'Scream!' release was the PQ was off.

    The Director, Neil Marshall, confirmed that the Scream copy was authored from a Cinema Print because the OCN had been lost.

    When the Koch MediaBook was released, including a 4K authoring, it was later revealed it came from the same source.

    It has been revealed, by Neil Marshall himself, that they have since "found" the OCN  (oh, that's "Original Camera Negative" btw, heh) and this Second Sight release will be a brand new authoring. They anticipate both 4K and Blu-ray discs will be produced.

    I think the Koch release looked pretty darn good but as you know, I'm old and senile.

    I suspect this release from SS will be jaw dropping.

    I'm sure you've researched the plot-line so won't labour that here. Suffice it to say that I believe the centre focus of the film, the interaction of the soldiers facing an unknown and terrifying threat, is almost a carbon copy of the tense drama faced by the team members in both "Predator" and "The Thing". and that is a good thing!

    I'd say the special effects and the 'practical' effects werewolf costumes were incredibly advanced for their time and still hold up to this day.

    They were also wise enough to keep most of the wolfies hidden, giving only brief glances at times, until the end pretty much. Similar in theme to I'd say both "Ginger Snaps" and "The Howling".

    So yeah, on my "highly recommended" list buddy. 🥰

    Cheers.

    Couldnt say anything better than this young man did!

    I absolutely loved this film. I think I saw it a year or two after it came out and thought it was definitely thought it was one of the better Werewolf movies. This will be a day one preorder for me.

    🥤Hey @Bones, nice p/u’s, I have  an affinity for Criterion’s Island of Lost Souls & The Changeling, when you get around to watching them, let me know what you thought!

    I definitely will @Veum  they are both blind buys based on yours and @Grendel recommendations. I think it will have to be a double feature when I get to them.

  4. Good Afternoon Psychos!

    The mail gods smiled upon me the past 2 days and delivered to me my my first premiums, my first criterions, my first Severin order and some other cheap steel books I found :). Thank you to my friend @Grendel for my very first premium steel.

    CMA #12 IT 1990!

    Also, by pure coincidence, I received a box from the Netherlands today that also contained my very first Manta Lab Se7en. Today also happens to be the 25th anniversary of the movie releasing in U.S. theaters.

    Confession time. I'm never seen The Terminator. It's before my time and never peaked my interest. Worth watching minus the nostalgia? 😅

    This movie is Arnold at the peak of his prime in my opinion. However im an 80’s kid and watch everything of his still. True Lies is a very close second.

    I honestly can't figure out if these posts were automated or if you guys are just nice and welcoming. 😅 Thanks and looking forward to figuring out how to join the various parties going on around here, and end up spending lots of money I probably should be saving!

    @Hexxproof i was just like you just over a month ago. But everyone that i have interacted with here has been just as kind and respectful as the greeting messages. There are threads here for every taste but if your a horror fan check out The Horror Journals where our hosts @Hollywood E Rock And @Veum are doing 2 glorious months of horror movie reviews!

    However @CAYENNE-FAHRER Is right. Your wallet will hate you around here.

    welcome friend!

    Thats a very nice turntable you have there. Ive always wanted a nice one but havnt gotten around to it yet. I set up one of these for a client a year or so back with a couple of McIntosh monoblocks and some really nice sonos faber stradivari towers and it sounded amazing!

    Btw one of the other vinyls that got dropped into the cart was that Exorcist you have pictured from the previous page. I would love to hear that on a nice set up!

    Hi Folks;

    I was curious if @ukade2327 or perhaps someone else, took notice of a new advert from;

    'Sacred Bones Records" (the source for my (our?) The Thing OSTs).

    Two more Carpenter classic OSTs being released;

    - Escape From New York, and

    - The Fog

    I received the notice via email, and even logged in, these don't seem to yet be accessible.

    Here's a link to the main web-site at least, should you wish to check for availability later. 🙂

    Link:

    https://www.sacredbonesrecords.com/

    Anyway, here's a pic of what's in the forecast for these two;

  10. For Fathers day i bought myself the Arrow limited edition version of the thing because i wanted the best quality version of the film. Since it was oop (and before I found media psychos) i bought it off ebay for $150 knowing it was region b. I have an oppo bdp-103 for my viewing room (the family has the 4k tv and 4k sony player in the family room) because my tv in there is only a 1080p kuro. I figured that oppo players were region free and i didnt have any worries. Well when my beautiful set came in i was very sad to learn that while oppo bluray players are region free for dvd, they unfortunately are not bluray region free. The oppo player has an adapter that can be bought for $100 but since i spent so much on the disc i didnt have any extra cash. I had a hand me down bluray drive for my pc so i ripped it on to a flash drive and plugged it in to my player. So long as the flash drive is big enough to hold the 30 or so gigs there was no quality reduction.

    I ended up buying a 5TB drive for my pc and use the free plex app to stream to the 4k apple tv. So i work in the home theater field and would normally not advocate ripping and streaming over physical media but on the rare occasion that i get a region locked disc i still have a way to watch the film in bluray quality and no region restrictions.

    Plex is kind of cool for the family too because they can stream my movies with out touching my discs. Plex also plays trailers based on your movie library in front of your other movies which i love.

    I hope this helps someone sorry if it was long.
