I prefer the first one by far. 

 

It's always nice to have options but the second one just doesn't work for me at all. Also, the first one fits better with Lord of the Rings.

I would have to agree I much like cover A better for the traditional look and feel for this franchise. do we need to update our order to say which cover we want?

And another thing.... Why can't I like ALL of Edition A or ALL of Edition B? If I mix and match, the spines won't look right on my shelf lol. I love the wrap-around artwork on the Bs, but I'm just a little more fond of Edition A for Unexpected Journey. And NO, before anybody asks...I absolutely will NOT be sold on purchasing all six editions. I just can't do it lol.

EDIT: Just looked at the GB and it doesn't look like we have the option to "mix and match." GB is only for all Edition As or all Edition Bs. That might make it a little easier to decide. My list has more Bs than As anyway. Majority rule, right? Lol.

I am quite surprised that they make 600 of each Hobbit but only 300 each Lord of the Rings. I always thought that Lord of the Rings is much more popular among fans.

It's probably 300 copies of each version, since there are now two editions for each film.
