Now, the first information may have dropped about how long audiences will get to spend with their favorite Spider-Men past and future. The UK-based theater chain Cineworld has created a ticket listing for Spider-Man: No Way Home, which includes a runtime. There is not yet a poster or any plot information, but the time is visible and states that the film will be 150 minutes long, a runtime of two and a half hours.

A fourth installment of The Expendables is coming, and it'll include a trio of new stars including Megan Fox, Curtis "50" Jackson and Tony Jaa. They'll join returning actors Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture, according to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday. Scott Waugh will reportedly direct the film, which starts production in October. 

 

Lionsgate and Millennium Media, the film companies is behind the project, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage Follows Formula With a PG-13 Rating

Sony and Columbia Pictures have revealed that Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be rated PG-13 just like the first film in the symbiote series.

 

According to Film Ratings, the Andy Serkis-directed sequel has received the same rating as Venom's first standalone feature, with the MPAA giving it a PG-13 rating for "intense sequences of violence and action, some strong language, disturbing material, and suggestive references" despite speculation that Venom 2 would usher in an R-rating classification.

Christopher Nolan Leaves WB, New WWII Movie Picked Up By Universal

Christopher Nolan is parting ways with Warner Bros., as his new World War II movie is picked up by Universal. For years, Nolan and the studio enjoyed a fruitful partnership, collaborating on highly-successful and industry-defining films such as the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, and Dunkirk (among others). Their relationship continued as recently as last year, when WB released Nolan's Tenet, which was one of the rare tentpoles to release in 2020 as theaters were starting to reopen amidst the pandemic.

 

However, Nolan's relationship with WB became strained in late 2020, after the studio announced all of their 2021 titles would release on HBO Max the same day as theaters. Nolan, a proponent of the big screen experience, was highly critical of the decision, going so far as to call HBO Max "the worst streaming service." This led many to believe Nolan would no longer do business with WB as he develops his next project. Recently, it was revealed Nolan is working on a film about J. Robert Oppenheimer and the atomic bomb, which he was shopping to multiple studios. Now, the untitled movie has found a home.

 

Per Deadline, Universal has picked up Nolan's new WWII movie. Universal beat out MGM and Sony for the rights, and WB was apparently not considered. The plan is for production to begin early next year.

Deadpool writers’ Twisted Metal series will star Anthony Mackie

 

 

Sony’s PlayStation Productions has found one of the leads for its live-action Twisted Metal series. The new Captain America, Anthony Mackie, will be at the center of Twisted Metal’s car-based mayhem, Deadline reported Wednesday.

 

The series will follow Mackie as John Doe, a wise-cracking milkman hired to deliver a package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Along his journey he’ll meet some of Twisted Metal’s most famous characters, including Sweet Tooth, the demonic clown with the flaming head, and his ice cream truck, and probably a few new faces as well. John Doe in Twisted Metal: Black was an unremarkable driver of the car Roadkill whose defining characteristics were his amnesia and his tattoos.

 

Other than some of the characters, it doesn’t seem like the new series will take many cues from the video games they’re based on other than the premise. Then again, the Twisted Metal franchise, which had its last entry in 2012, was always more about the idea of vehicular destruction and chaos than story to begin with.

 

The series is based on a take on the PlayStation video game franchise from writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who were behind Zombieland, both Deadpool movies, and 6 Underground, which means we can expect a healthy mix of action and comedy. Reese and Wernick will serve as executive producers on the series, but the writing will be handled by Michael Jonathan Smith (Cobra Kai), who will executive produce as well.

 

There’s no word yet on when Twisted Metal will be released or which network or streaming service it will call home. Sony doesn’t currently have a streaming service of its own but Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions are currently partnered with HBO for their The Last of Us series, which is in production now. While this could make HBO the eventual home, there’s no exclusive agreement stopping Sony from sending the Twisted Metal series somewhere else.

Super Mario Bros. Movie Lands All-Star Voice Cast: Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen

Talk about a level up — the new animated feature film based on the world of Super Mario Bros. has bagged an A-list voice cast.

Chris Pratt and Charlie Day have been tapped to play the titular video game siblings Mario and Luigi, respectively, two Italian plumbers plunged into a world of foes and fantasy in the beloved Nintendo game series. Anya Taylor-Joy will play Princess Peach, the royal blonde who has inspired millions of Halloween costumes and rap lyrics, often found in the clutches of supervillain Bowser, who will be voiced by actor Jack Black.

 

Rounding out the are Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad (who does a mean cover of Sia’s “Chandelier”), Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

Chris Meledandri’s top-grossing Illumination label is making the film, which will roll out in theaters on Dec. 21, 2022, via Universal Pictures. Nintendo and Universal are co-financing the project.

 

Meledandri is producing for Illumination with Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are directing, having previously collaborated on the animated series “Teen Titans Go!” and the film “Teen Titans Go! To the Movies.” The script is from Matthew Fogel, whose credits include “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part” and the upcoming Illumination title “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

 

“Mario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honored to have the unique opportunity to work so closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the widely imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated movie, unlike any film Illumination has made to date,” Meledandri said, announcing the cast at the streaming event Nintendo Direct.

 

The producers noted that each actor was cast for their ability to capture the unique spirit of each of their iconic characters.

 

“We are collaborating with Chris and his experienced team to not just create a character licensed film, but a new piece of entertainment which brings Super Mario Bros. to life on the screen, and allows everyone to enjoy whether or not they know about the game,” added Miyamoto. “The production so far is constructive and going very well, and both parties are learning a lot from each other. Marvel Studios Suing To Keep Iron Man, Spider-Man & Avengers Rights

 

Marvel is suing the heirs of some of the company’s most notable creators in an attempt to retain the rights to characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the Avengers. Over the past two decades, the comic company’s biggest heroes have grown from comic book characters to pop culture superstars, with the MCU becoming the dominant force in global film. However, despite Marvel’s recent success, its characters are still subject to copyright law.

 

Under copyright law, creators or their families or estates can file to reclaim the rights to characters or franchises they made after a certain period of time. Generally, a comic writer cedes the rights to their characters to the company they write for, but after a number of years, the law allows for them or their heirs to petition the publisher’s rights to be terminated and the characters in question to be returned to their original creators. A successful termination filing means the company losing the rights to the character or story in question.

 

That waiting period is almost up for a number of major Marvel characters, and the company is taking legal action to try to retain the rights to Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, and more. Per THR, Marvel has filed five different lawsuits against the heirs and estates of past creators including Stan Lee, Gene Colan, and Steve Ditko. The lawsuits claim that all the characters in question were created as work for hire, making their rights ineligible for a return to the creators. If Marvel fails in its efforts, it could start losing some of its biggest characters as early as 2023.
