I have to admit, I’m pleased that these are selling so well that they’re having trouble meeting orders.  Hopefully tells them there’s enough demand to justify releasing lots of older titles on physical media, and support the upgrades to 4K.

the PQ transfers have made me hesitant on getting these, Cameron just loves making everything smooth and waxy 😂

The Abyss (streaming) looks good to my eye, but the Aliens and True Lies transfers are tragic. Buying them anyway though lol

Put in The Abyss last night for 15 minutes or so while I was cleaning up around the house, just looking up here and there to check out the transfer.  I thought it looked great; very clean for a movie from that era but not too much so.  
 

I’m not hearing good things about Aliens or, especially, True Lies.  Will know firsthand pretty soon on Aliens (skipping True Lies for now; was better than I expected at the time but I didn’t love it).

Yeah I keep hearing it’s “a new AI process” and while that might be true, it’s still just a variation of the same DNR/sharpening/EE flavor IMHO. Avatar 1 is pretty rough too.

 

Gonna hold on to my True Lies LaserDisc and Aliens BD but still excited to take a look at these new discs.

I watched True lies stream last night and the edge enhancement and sharpening is so aggressive to the point that it looks blurry around their head.

Got mine today, too! Now I just need to find the time to check them out… I sampled the digital copy of Aliens on iTunes a few months back when they added the new 4K master and… it was a very different experience visually from the Aliens I remember and grew up with. It’s going to take some getting used to.

Watching the SE right now. I think this looks absolutely phenomenal. Crystal clear and razor sharp with a fine layer of grain. Atmos audio kicks ass too. 
 

Only one complaint so far—too much teal/green push in the moon pool scenes. It’s evident throughout the movie but it’s particularly egregious in those scenes.

Agreed with every word of this, though the pool didn’t bother me so much.  It’s a very good transfer; looks like it was filmed (and still looks *filmed*) yesterday.

Still hope there will be a HDZeta, UHDClub or any other special release of this beautiful movie anytime this year...

I got mine via Amazon USA awhile ago now ( For anyone UK side wondering ALL IN SHIPPED £32 ISH )and life keeps getting in the way of me posting.

 

Well whilst I'm logging on life can pause a second while I do this .

 

This edition is run time wise IS longer by about 3 minutes.

 

The rat scene is a lot harder to watch from the DVD UK disk . The audio is still thire yet the rat is cut away from as it's cage is held under the water yet this the rat is shown struggling.

 

For me a harder watch and being as it was already cut to this with Cameron's approval FFS PULL YOUR FOOKIN FIGER OUT AND LET THAT CUT BE APPROVED FOR THE UK .
