But you have to order it from 220 or someone else who fixed it.  Oddly enough, my previous 4K player was this model, but I bought it from Amazon and even with software updates it won’t play region free.  Someone has to “fix” it.

Recent purchases that I can now watch, shown below (don’t know why I waited so long to buy player).  I will probably hold off on watching the original Battle Royale, hope to have 4K coming in November.

 

Dumb story time:  when I first started collecting 4K, I ordered several items together from a vendor I had never used.  I didn’t realize they don’t ship any of the order until they have all of it.  I pre-ordered the Blackhat 4K; at the time it was scheduled for May, then September, now late November.  As part of the same orders I have Battle Royale 4K, a special edition of The Witch 4K, and City of Lost Children.

 

So now it feels like I have been waiting forever for those items.   I worry that they didn’t set the other items aside, because they’re now out of stock. Very much looking forward to 11/28.

Maybe someday I will follow your example, and buy one. What I don't know is if, come that day, I will buy a Zone Free one and a really good one, or if I will be able to buy a really good one that is Zone Free.

 

Well, for the moment the one I have is going to have to keep running a little longer.

 

Out of curiosity: are those zone-free players zone-free for everything, or only for Blu-ray?

I will go to see my team today, probably playing in the rain. I hope they win, they are not having a good season so far, and seeing another loss... and getting wet on the way out would not be a good plan.

Thank you for your answer and the info.

 

I asked this because I once read of players that are Free Zone on Blu-Ray, and then when you tried to play a DVD they still had a zone lock. Maybe it was a bug.

But I will have to buy one at some point. For now, I'm sticking with my old Samsung player. 8 years of heavy use, good quality, zero repairs.

 

Funny how the world has changed, because next time I'll have to go to other brands. Even if I buy the whole system, there will be no more integrated home cinemas, I will have to go up a step and join the group of specialist brands.

 

But for the moment it will have to wait. Renovations at home are not free, unfortunately.

Taking a look at this year's premium releases from each manufacture in the posted threads, and I can't imagine what we would do without Manta.  These are rough numbers and could be slightly off, but for releases this year I count:

 

Manta: 13 box sets plus at least 4 box sets or more likely to be released this year

 

CM:2 singles (The Thing and Suicide Squad) and 2 boxsets (LNIS and Roger Rabbit both of which are still shipping)

 

Blufans: 3 boxsets (WW84, NTTD, DK Trology) and one Fanatic DK Trilogy, didn't see any OAB released yet this year

 

HDZ: 3 box sets all LOTR

 

Weet: Arrival boxset, Homecoming boxset maybe by end of year, WWA Across the Spiderverse maybe released by end of year

 

Raro: Black Adam boxset

 

Novamedia: EEAAW and JW4 boxsets

 

Filmarena:  At least 3 singles and 2 boxsets (ZS JL and Fast Saga) and hopefully Predator boxset by end of year

 

It's crazy Manta definitely going to be retailer of the year again.  I do say that my favorite steelbook of the year is Nova's EEAAW at least for now.  Looking forward to the 2nd annual Media Psycho End of the Year nominations probably coming in next few months.

So sorry to hear this and that he had dementia since 2020 😢…

 

but on the positive side he had a great career and life and his family said —- Charlton's family said he "passed peacefully in the early hours of Saturday morning". 🙏 😇
