PA’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy steelbook is a great example of an artist perfectly capturing the mood of the film with a fantastic interpretation of the mole’s reveal scene.

i also find that dark gray is not a color that is very pleasing to the eye when it comes to steels or slips, especially when it makes up most of the artwork.

Great choice, the steel as well as the slip are beautiful.

So, am I correct deducing that you are not opposed  to using film scenes for artwork as long as its not the mere still(s) but an artistic rendering/interpretation of it/them?

Correct, depending both on the scene and color palette.

Manta knocking out the 2023 releases, only 5 more to go, and I have to say I want all of those next 5, especialy Dune 2.  Going to have to put up a new shelf.  This one is also looking good, on the fence.
