Hi everybody!

 

I hope you had a nice weekend.

 

The weather has been very nice here, and I've taken the opportunity to go to the beach with the family, and have a bit of a quiet life, away from everything. It was nice.

In the evening I took the opportunity to see "Sundown" by Michel Franco. He is a director who seems more and more interesting to me. I liked the film quite a lot. His films are a mixture of social criticism, a certain introversion, and calm. 

I'm looking forward to seeing his new film, "Memory", with Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard.  I don't know what it's about, but I'm increasingly enjoying going into the cinema without knowing anything about the plot.

Ten o'clock at night, 25ºC (=77ºF), hot wind, 67% humidity, and there is still almost an hour of daylight left. 

 

The wind chill is higher than the temperature, and I'd prefer it to be a bit cooler, but this is my favourite time of the year. Having light until almost 11pm gives you a calmness, a sense of being able to live, which is radically different from the oppressive winter, when on the worst days it's already dark at 18:30.

 

I know that in many countries it gets dark earlier, I've experienced it, but... for me more daylight hours is equivalent to quality of life.

 

In fact, there are several films I want to go and see (A quiet place 3, Memory, Handling the Undead, Kinds of Kindness...), but on days like this I feel even more like being outdoors, having a drink on a terrace chatting with a friend, eating something, laughing.

 

It should be like this all year round!

 

I hope you had as good a day as I did. Although I don't know if it will last...
