:) 🤠 🎬 📀 📺 Fellows just wanted to let you know SUCCESS with my Stereo hook-up to my new TV today!…  a big SHOUT_OUT to our very good/helpful fox 🦊 @Basil Paul❣️🙌

Thank You so much Paul for your informative help… although I did leave my own surge-protector that handles our ROKU stick and our BD/4K players and they still work!! :)

That's my plan for tonight as well! Can't wait to finally experience it.

@BreakBeatDJ had a really comprehensive list on another thread, any of those were great options. Here's some of my personal favorites for demo purposes, all 4K discs except Tron:

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey
  • Blade Runner
  • Blade Runner 2049
  • Dune (2021)
  • First Man
  • Quantum of Solace
  • Passengers
  • Star Trek Into Darkness
  • Starship Troopers
  • TRON: Legacy (killer audio, hoping we get a 4K one of these days)

I feel like John Wick 2 was on your list, maybe?  I had read somewhere that it’s reference quality and after watching the 4K I absolutely agree with that assessment.  The colors of the cars at the beginning really pop, along with the entire city.  Really great looking movie.

Agreed.  I see that one also mentioned for motion rendering, there are some fairly complicated and quick camera moves/editin that challenge a TVs ability to refresh.  Not quite game specs, but def fast.

Happy Thursday All! That is an amazing setup @Heywoodmoutaw! Congrats @Veum on a successfull setup! One movie I would add is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It has a lot of action scenes, with rapid transitions and sound changes.

Me after watching Bram Stoker's Dracula in 4K last night:

George Costanza Wow GIF by hero0fwar

Wild ride for sure! Beautiful 4K disc, I listened to the 5.1 track and it was gloriously thunderous. (I read the Atmos had the score mixed too low?) My dogs were fascinated by the scene in the beginning where Harker is traveling to Dracula's castle, all those wolves howling in surround sound had them totally enthralled. Keanu's acting at first threw me, but I got used to it pretty quick and grew to appreciate his performance. Gary Oldman is, as always, top notch—as was Winona Ryder.

The scene transitions floored me, Coppola clearly spent a lot of time in pre-production developing that and it really paid off. I loved the visual style with tricks like the hard Dracula shadow independent of his body, that was really interesting to absorb. The layering of visual elements was fascinating too.

I didn't totally follow the story, after about 50 minutes I thought it started to drag a bit, but I'm mostly unfamiliar with the story which didn't help. The old-English dialogue was occasionally tough for me to follow as well. The good news with that criticism though is that the movie demands repeat viewings. I was surprised at how creepy I found the entire movie to be, in a good way—definitely revisiting this next October.

Side question—has anyone here seen The Last Voyage of the Demeter? I'm even more curious about it now after watching Dracula.

@hansreinhardt as this came out in ‘92 you can imagine how many times I’ve seen this 😝

The Last Voyage of the Demeter had some good production value and some spots were alright but for me it did not move me much for a Vampire film  🧛‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Thanks.  I was curious about Demeter as well, will probably just skip it, at least for a while.

I think my next Dracula movie will be Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, which I’m really excited about.  I love his stuff.
