  1. Yeah, just getting another Mad Max movie from Miller feels like an enormous gift.
  2. I know, I know. I keep trying to draw cost control lines here and there, and this was one where I thought “you don’t need a slight upgrade right now . . .”, but I know I’m going to cave. I keep wondering how much the inevitable Cameron drops are going to cost me.
  3. Been trying to get to this one with my son for a while (he loved it of course): This one was for me after he went to bed. Stone cold classic. Beautiful transfer by KL.
  4. The Kino looks good; they almost always do great work. Trying to talk myself out of the cool cosmetic upgrade on offer here.
  5. Yes, I would wait too. Huge development: we finally have internet! Actually fortunate: part of what led to confusion was most people here still have coaxial hookups, we have fiber. So much faster internet than most people near me. Next challenge: I have to replace my washer, which was ancient, and get a gas tank for our fireplace. I’m off work the next two days, though I will still work some because things are hectic, but hope to get these things done. And I have finished putting together 3 of 6 shelves for the media room. Would like to be through all of that by the end of the weekend.
  6. What release or group buy was it that brought all the new people on today?
  7. It’s pathetic, but I have only finished one shelf. We spent all day Sunday shopping for things for the house, worked late today and got nothing done. I’m about to put on High Plains Drifter (beautiful 4K work by Kino Lorber btw) and drift off to sleep I hope. Other than our media shelves, the only remaining struggle is internet. Spectrum will visit me for the fourth time tomorrow (not including the construction team that had to come out. Hopefully tomorrow they are finally going to send me a fiber tech instead of a co-ax tech. It’s a whole saga. But we are mostly settled in and my son seems very happy with the place.
  8. Gary’s like Maximus at the beginning of Gladiator: “there’s no one left to fight.” There’s nothing left to buy! Incredible stuff.
  9. Hope you’re feeling better, a shame to be sick during Thanksgiving. Hope you still got to do some quality eating.
  10. Wish these guys hadn’t stopped shipping to the US. My son wants this one badly.
  11. That’s crazy. Makes me think that most physical media is being purchased by grandparents who shop at Walmart. Which isn’t great for the future of physical media.
  12. My family went out and told me that there was surprisingly little traffic. Don’t know if this is true in other places, obviously. I wonder if more and more people are just participating in Black Friday online.
  13. Holy cow, no toilet? That seems much worse than the internet problem. Sounds like everything else is coming along though. Today we assembled a kitchen table. Tonight and tomorrow I hope to finish assembling media room shelves. At that point, we can populate those shelves, get the media room tv out of the box, hook up the PS5 etc. Then, maybe, I can unpack all of the boxes that are currently preventing me from parking in my garage.
  14. I want Mean Streets on 4K badly, but decided to wait for the Second Sight release. You’re making me wonder if I made the right decision or not. That Criterion package is very nice. More visually appealing than a lot of what they do.
  15. I’m not 100% sure where to post this (maybe you guys can help (if necessary) @Gary K @ShadowWarrior @deckard99 ), but just in case there are some fellow Cronenberg fans out there, Vinegar Syndrome just dropped a pretty cool edition of eXistenZ. I have no idea what it means that this will have a “flesh feel” but I’m looking forward to finding out. https://vinegarsyndrome.com/collections/frontpage/products/existenz
  16. Yay! Thank you, thanks everyone. Great price if that set is even half as good as it looks. Movie has the most impressive/cringe-inducing “bones hitting stuff” sound effects in film history. Great, somehow underrated movie.
  17. Wait: do I join a group buy here or go elsewhere to buy it? (Sorry I’m still asking dumb questions). Want want want, can’t buy fast enough.
  18. I’ll start the thanking by thanking you for the sentiment. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well; even people who live outside the US should use this as an excuse to be thankful and overeat Midnight here, and I just got the audio system hooked up on the main television. Time to put on The Last Waltz (loudly, as the beguof the movie demands) and assemble some furniture. My son is with his mother’s parents for the night, and my side of the family isn’t having the big Thanksgiving meal until Friday. I am thankful to be able to sleep as late as possible tomorrow! What do folks have planned for Thanksgiving?
  19. So I saw this steelbook on sale at Walmart and couldn’t help myself. Actually curious to check it out, haven’t seen it since I was a kid.
  20. It looks like better than yours, I’m so sorry. Still no internet; the “construction team” came out yesterday and didn’t what they needed to do, now I need a tech to come back and run fiber into my house. Back at work today, picking up a kitchen table that I’ll need to assemble at home. So I still have to mount one television, put together a table, and assemble the shelves for the media room. Then I can start unpacking all of the boxes that are still in my garage. Things are moving, just slowly.
