yeah - really only way I know to do it is to rip the disc and add the ripped file and and a subtitle file to VLC and watch on the computer which is not my ideal viewing situation.

With the Oppo player its really easy.

 

 -Download the subtitle srt file

 -rename the srt file to sub.srt

 -put the file in a folder named sub

 -transfer the sub folder to an USB   Stick/device

 -connect the USB stick/device with   your player

 -start disc Playback

 -open subtitle options where youll find the added one at the bottom named

"Other"

Works like a charm.

Just used that yesterday with the french Milady 4k

Hmmm wonder if my panny 9000 has that ability.  Will need to investigate.

I have no idea if this would work with my Sony… I’ve also never even looked at the subtitle menu, if there is one; only ever used what’s on the disc already. Guess I might need to do some exploring.

I´m quite confident if you present the subs in similiar form, the panny will be able to read/find em.

EHHHH... I guess the above is a moot point now. I just ordered the deluxe set with the steelbook anyway. I see the description notes that it does come with the digipack, so I guess that means we get both cases unless it's just a lazy cut and paste job from the other edition. I reckon the only way to know for sure it see what arrives on my doorstep in May! 🤣

 

I’m still debating whether or not to order the disc, but I just stole the hell out of this gif

This one is still showing as available to ship to the USA but it doesn't have the steelbook. Not 100% sure but everything else in the set appears to be there. Both have the same beauty shot which is confusing.

I poked around on my Sony and it doesn't seem like I can add external subtitles (or if there is way, it's beyond me currently). But I popped in the disc anyway and sampled a couple chapters. Goodness, this is a beautiful disc! It looks and sounds wonderful!
