Media Psychos 90s Movie Award

We are excited to present to you our next award in the Cinematic History Awards category!

 

It is time to

 

Wow

 

that is certainly a decade with some of the greatest Movies released.

 

The First Stage is called: Enter the 90s and the terrific award members can get was created by @Pbsw23 👍

 

 

To receive the 90s Movie Award Stage 1: Enter the 90s members need to follow our simple rules.

 

You have to make and show us pictures of 30 different 90s Movies from your collection. Include your favorites or a random selection, but make sure that the movies you show had an original release date between 1990-1999!

 

This award is not limited to any specific packaging type! Everything is allowed! Steelbooks, Digipacks, Premiums, Amaray, Sets, even DVD or VHS if you still have them.

 

The pictures have to include your Media Psychos member card or other Media Psychos stuff, it can be a simple piece of paper on which you write your member name @ mediapsychos.com (for example). It really doesn't take that much time to add something like that and makes the pictures even more exciting for the community.

 

Please make sure that we can see the cover/front of each movie, no spine pictures are allowed in this award.

The 80s are my favorite Movie decade but the 90s is also an awesome decade. It brought us so many absolute Classic Movies, including my favorite individual movie (not part of a series) with Braveheart and so many others I can't get enough of. Making my picture reminded me again how much many of the movies mean to me, it certainly is a different attachment to the stuff they make today. Some of the 90s Movies have received Premium releases. but sadly it is most of the time the same and awesome movies like Starship Troopers, Dances with Wolves, The Crow, Braveheart (besides one Black Barons release) or Miyazaki Movies have received nothing 😭.

 

Anyway here is my picture for the Award. 3 Movies from each year of the 90s

So I tried to restrict myself to the 4K shelf, but there were a few recent bluray acquisitions lying out so I threw those in (hi Radiance!).  Sorry for so many separate photos, I started out with themes then just kind of began throwing everything together.  Btw, Casino and Ronin aren’t together *only* because of DeNiro; those are both beautiful 4K transfers, upgrades at their best.

 

 I don’t expect Carlito to count twice, I just couldn’t decide between the steelbook and the Arrow release, they’re both beautiful   

 

Also, apologies for the janky card, I promise I’ll print a nicer one at work soon.  When GBs start showing up, I wonder if there’s an official MP card in my future? Would be awesome.

 

I was 15 when the 90s started and 25 when they ended so these are pretty important film years to me (though I was digging deep into movies from other decades).  Had I gone to the Blu shelf, I could’ve put up Wilt Chamberlain numbers out here (basketball stats, not his sexual stats; no one has that many movies).

 

Anyway, thanks for doing this @extantsrevenge and @Pbsw23, enjoyed having an excuse for digging through these movies.

A fellow Peaks fan!  I wish for the series in 4K.  But I have to say, the bluray presentation of The Return is so beautiful that I don’t know if it’s possible to upgrade it.

it is great to see lesser known movies used and also simple regular release.

 

 

I have still not figured out what type of movie you prefer @hal56 because you seem to have everything 😅. Some of the best but also some of the most shitty movies ever made. I mean come on Audition 🥵, I hate that.

@Veum you only included 29 movies, or did I miss one? At the moment we need 30 different movies, you included a TV Series.

I think if we get to a second stage I will also allow Series, but in Stage 1 I would like to limit it to movies.

 

Also I thought you had a new camera, hard to identify some of the movies from you picture 😅
