It's hard to think of someone who could take on the role next.

 

A lot of young actors either look their age, or younger.

 

Actors like Connery and Lazenby were able to project a maturity/sensibility beyond their own age.

 

Connery was in early 30s with the first three Bond films and yet he looked and acted like someone in their 40s. Same deal with Lazenby who was only 29 when he made OHMSS.
