Sad news, Mondo lovers 😢

This article was published the other day, announcing the end of an era for AMP collectors: You might want to get your Mondo posters while you still can

Some other sources claim Mondo may still continue to produce posters but if that's the case, it will be under different leadrership as the co-founders of Mondo, Rob Jones and Mitch Putnam, were among those laid off by Funko.

While output of quality prints is consistently being produced by the likes of Bottleneck Gallery, Madduck Posters and many others, there is little doubt Mondo were the forefathers of alternative movie posters, helping turn a niche hobby into a global phenomenon, with prints from artists like Laurent Durieux, Olly Moss, Ken Taylor, Martin Ansin and Taylor Stout, commanding hefty prices on the aftermarket.

So cherish any Mondos you have, not because their value might further increase, but because they are the legacy of a legendary company who redefined what movie posters could really be... true works of art.

I read about that just the other day.

Very sad to hear.

It would be nice if they continue printing but I don’t have much hope with the Funko ownership. Im hopeful other companies can fill the void,

I don’t have any posters from bottleneck but the pictures I have seen look very nice.

I also wonder if this means the end of the Mondo steelbook line. It would be a shame, We have gotten so many beautiful steels from them.

Some news from Mondo706B6ACC-300A-4D84-9A35-23F3FA4C8866.thumb.jpeg.bd4c79045f1fe4620646e06a3e05ab0a.jpeg

I do agree that a good amount of the poster are bought by scalpers, But also I think having one of a very small print run is part of the appeal.

It would be nice if they did something about the scalpers that seem to have gotten into everything now.

It’s kind of upsetting when something sells out immediately then there are tons of them with insane marks ups for sale the same day.

Also with the founders gone who knows how this will work out. I’d imagine any artist are going to go where the founders went, or somewhere else.
Funko is great at oversaturating the market with things people don’t want.

Wow... regular edition already sold out in liitle more than an hour, despite variants usually selling out faster due to their more limited print runs.

That was super fast and all the more reason why I'm really happy to have snagged a copy.

Missed the regular so I ordered the variant.

Not sure where I will hang, as usual.

Can't lose with either one. Last print I bought was also from MDP in 2017 (Citizen Kane wood variant), so it's testament to how incredible I think this poster is, that I instantly bought it despite not having anywhere to hang it. At some point I'll rotate it with one of my permanent prints, but not before I have a nice custom frame made for it.
