  1. Hi Guys, so as promised Druk (Another Round) was my much anticipated viewing this evening.

First off, thank you @BreakBeatDJ for the suggestion. This wasn’t on my radar but made for a very enjoyable viewing. 👍🏼

For me, this movie tackled more than just the obvious. It managed to tackle the fact that our social circles tend to grow smaller as we get older. That we do indeed become somewhat “predictable” to our long term partners. That our children ultimately reach an adult age, old enough to drink certainly, and in doing so become the “New cool” and look to us less and less for social interaction. You could suggest that this was aimed at a midlife crisis and how a group of men tackle it without the need for flashy cars or motorbikes etc.

I am not sure what the drinking culture is like in Denmark, but what starts as a few beers (boat race and opening scenes) soon descends into Wine, Vodka, Whiskey, Rum etc etc. I personally identify with the opening scenes but that’s about as far as it goes for me. As previously mentioned, I like a Rum & coke. I’m even partial to a Bourbon, but I’m talking about one or two in an evening, Not destroying a bottle. However in this story it’s an experiment which presents the excitement of drinking due to their early results. I wouldn’t suggest that it glamourises drinking, but more shines a light on the secretive world of reliance on alcohol. I should add here that I felt inclined to open a beer whilst watching this 🤫😏

I found myself laughing out loud to the Maximum BAC scenes. From the Cissy Strut to supermarket shopping, from fishing for cod and ‘Peter’ jumping in the ocean to swim to the taxi, through to the pub with ‘Tommy’ stealing two optics. Hilarious and yet relatable (Disclosure - I have Never fished for cod sober OR drunk!) 😂👌🏼

Overall I found this to be fascinating and an enjoyable watch. I echo the thoughts of @R1s1ngs0n in that this will stay with me for an extremely long time, and I will be recommending this to friends. Therefore it has to go down as a great movie. I also echo the thoughts of @Miguelispro in that I don’t believe this is a film I would be in any rush to rewatch. Possibly one more time (if I caught it on TV whilst channel hopping) but likely not again after a 2nd viewing.

I found and watched it on Netflix, and and I would score this as 4 out of 5. To also echo everyone’s else’s sentiments, the cast portray their roles expertly. Great start to the club! 👊🏼

  2. Hi guys, sorry I’m clearly behind on this one and likely always will be judging by your eagerness. I’m tee’d up to watch this one tonight and in most cases, I will be watching these movie club selections on my Saturday evenings. I like to have plenty of time to unwind, settle down and enjoy films, and weekdays rarely present this for myself. I am some way from the luxury’s of retirement I’m afraid @Veum 😉😂👍🏼

Having read all of your comments so far I am really looking forward to this 👍🏼 I am also starting to understand how you lot afford so many GBs! 😂 I am a drinker (for shame it appears) though I never drink to dangerous levels. I fortunately do have a sensible off switch and use alcohol for relaxation. Either a couple of beers watching the footy or a movie, or cooking a bbq etc.

As I have got older my relationship with alcohol is now one of respect rather than escape. I will not have a drink until I have “earned it”. For example on a day like today where the weather is bad and I have no plans, I will not drink as it would be through boredom. But on a day where I have been working in the garden for hours, then my reward is a couple of cold beers sat in the garden taking in the view and planning my next tasks. I also tend to only drink on a weekend. Mon-Fri I use the gym so it seems counter intuitive to drink after a workout.

I do however love to dance and of course, a few beers, maybe a cheeky rum and coke along with your favourite tunes always steers me in that direction. Although again, in my case it is a “merry” home kitchen disco and never in a Drunken club.

Anyway, thats enough about me and my ways. Will report back tonight or in the morning with my thoughts. Thanks guys, already loving this thread. ✌🏼

  3. @Reagh I would like to join in on this buddy, although I can’t lie. I am slightly concerned some of you boys are going to nominate something I am really going to struggle to find.

I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and Apple TV so will try my best, but I may need some help finding these.

Add me to the bottom of the list please and I’ll try and present my nomination a couple of weeks in advance of my turn.

Not sure if I have missed this, but are we nominating movies we haven’t seen or old favourites? Or just completely open?

  4. Ok…. Ok…..

    giphy.gif

So tonight (against my better judgement) I watched Hobbs and Shaw. (Spoiler alert)

    image.thumb.jpeg.a74006332ce36b887f85a416fd95b3d6.jpeg

It was showing on TV and I happened to time it just right as I channel hopped. I Figured what the hell….

    giphy.gif

Well….. It’s fair to say that it just rocketed to the top of my “What the Hell did I just watch” list. I honestly cannot recall Anything in recent years as ridiculous as this, other than other F&F franchise movies post F&F5 or Aquaman. However none of those were as self indulgent as this bag of nonsense.

How the Hell did they get away with spending $200 million dollars and fail to employ someone with an ounce of common sense who could have pointed out how time, physics and the world works.

    giphy.gif

I can forgive an action movie for having vain muscular unrealistic moments where a mortal man pulls off the impossible. I can forgive a petrol head franchise for having futuristic supposedly electric vehicles that are roaring around to the sound of V8 engines. I can EVEN forgive a transforming bike that appears indestructible, can pivot wheels and can even ultimately drive itself, OR that a Samoan car mechanic is the ONLY man that they can call on to fix a broken, futuristic, one of a kind Virus extraction device. Not to mention they are of course naturally on bad terms… I mean Obviously right?! FFS. I could go on and on and on…

    giphy.gif

I cannot forgive a storyline written completely around “The Urgency” of the situation, and the unbelievable list of tasks, fights and global locations visited in the given timeframe. On one hand time appears endless as they hop from London to Moscow, then Ukraine and finally Samoa. And yet in another moment, we go from night to day as the device has counted down just 9 minutes?!! What about if you attach 4 cars end to end by chains, and the one at the back fires it’s nitrous… now I may be wrong here, but my guess is that it ploughs straight into the car in front right? Apparently not. 🤣

    giphy.gif

And back to the self indulgence… Why pray tell is there a US Air Marshall on a flight that is going from London to Moscow??! I’ll tell you why, because he’s Dwayne Johnson’s mate and needed a part. Shocking. I’m also intrigued just how many times The Rock calls someone ‘Brother’ throughout this. It gets cringey by the end, and if you make it that far then you’re in for a real treat because apparently… Every guy in Samoa is a huge ripped beast that wants to perform the ‘Haka’ in front of the armed enemy before going to war. Oh yeah, and they’re all expert drivers with trick pick ups. 🙄

I’m sure some of you love the franchise and probably enjoyed this, and I of course appreciate we all have our opinions about what we enjoy, but I found this to be nothing but a Dwayne Johnson jolly. Nothing against him, I’m actually a fan. But this was too much, inclusive of the eye brow jokes and shirtless Haka performance.

All in all, a slick predictable high octane adventure with lame humour throughout. You also need to forget half of the plot to truly buy it. Disappointing and laughable.

    giphy.gif

BTW, flight time from Moscow/Ukraine to Samoa is 19hrs and yet they still had time to form and action an elaborate gun free plan in seconds, not to mention fix a device no one has ever seen or worked on before. Pretty sure they’d all be dead tbh. 😆

  6. Xmas Special Challenge - "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow" 🌨

    Magnifique - Salut @R1s1ngs0n 🥂🎄

Seeing as how these only come out of their box once a year, let’s do this one all soppy and properly shall we. I really do need to replace these with BluRays though. I put it off every year but I think this could well be the last year for these DVD’s to go back in the loft with the decorations.

Scrooged is probably my Fav “True” Christmas Movie. Really looking forward to seeing Violent Night at some point. Could even be a blind buy to start the new Christmas Blu-ray collection for next year.

Friday night I watched Krampus, and last night I watched Christmas specials of Only Fools and Horses, Absolutely Fabulous and Mrs Browns Boys.

Next weekend, Friday will see drinks with old friends after work. Saturday will be driving and gift swapping with Family, but I expect Saturday night will either be a regular viewing of either Gremlins or Home Alone, or a premiere of Spirited on Apple TV. All three will be watched at some point over this week, I am just unsure which one will take the all important Christmas Eve slot.

But the most important viewing for me this year is the First Kings Speech on Christmas day since 1951! Historic moment for sure.

I am sure I will say this more than once over the next week, but Merry Christmas Everyone! Wishing you all a wonderful Festive Holiday no matter how you spend it. ❤️

    What a Game!

Congratulations to Argentina! Messi was a Joy to watch in what will likely be our last time watching him on the world stage. In truth, I feel they edged it in who deserved it more.

Commiserations to the French community. 2 WC Finals in a row and still an incredibly talented and young squad. We know you will be back and competing as favourites for the Euros in 2024.👊🏼

Thank you to @extantsrevenge for the set up and continuous admin of this tournament. 👍🏼
Thank you to @Cornbuster for the sweet design of this award. 👌🏼

Congratulations to @Reagh for topping the table! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  8. Hi all, I hope you’re all well.

It’s been an age since I last posted in here,  it thought I would share with you all that I have literally just binged the first 13 episodes of Tiger and Bunny.

I hadn’t been far into episode 1 before think “Ohhh this isn’t for me”, and yet 4hrs and 20min later here we are 😆

A little lacking in originality for sure (basically Batman entwined with Xmen or Heroes) but it has sucked me in and I now quite like the HeroTV and sponsorship plot which I originally cringed at. And visually it’s great and has already inspired a Lego build project for the future which will be added to the growing list.

Quite surprised by how many episodes there are, but hopefully it will keep me gripped and entertain throughout without me losing interest. Cheers!

  9. Hey all, just wondering if anyone knows anything about anything in the world of WeET Exclusives? Any clues as to what will be Exclusive #17?

Some one on here mentioned that they will bring us the MCU Spidey Trilogy? (Sorry can’t recall who said that). Maybe Into the Spiderverse 2?

If they are sticking to their staunch Marvel rule for exclusives and Sony play ball where Disney won’t, could we finally see a Blade trilogy?! Or even the Jessica Alba F4 double?! STILL waiting on a stand-alone steelbook release for Rise of the Silver Surfer. Seems unthinkable really.

Anyway, just curious if anyone has heard anything?? 🤞🏼🙏🏼

    @ksosk @extantsrevenge @LeGonze @RAK @Intentcoin @deckard99

    Cheers.

  10. Thank you @coupelle 👍🏼

This is getting harder and harder to bring you all different items from my collection rather than keep falling back on the same old titles.

So, for  CHALLENGE 14 : THE ANIMALS I give you,

    • Howard (the Duck)
    • Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael (Ninja Turtles)

Edit: Just realised I forgot my favourite animal. Has to be Dogs really. I would love to say it’s something cool like a Dragon or what ever those huge lion things are in Shang Chi, but I do love Dogs.

This is my brother in arms and has been my bestie for the past 11 and a half years.

    Congratulations Gents. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

In the past this would have been a tough one to take, but there is no shame In losing such a tight game to the Worlds Number 1 ranked team. At least my Christmas can start now 😆

I fully expect you to go on and win the whole tournament now, though clearly this has been a Wild tournament in terms of predictions so far.

    Good Luck guys 👍🏼

Some tournaments play this way that you have suggested @Veum But generally it’s in League football and not national.

But most of us would rather see a winner scored during play, and not to have a match decided by penalties. Do I want to watch a guy step up and take  a shot from the spot? or score a screamer or an acrobatic overhead kick for example, Hence the extra time.

Personally I would rather see the old Golden goal rule come back into play, where by you play until someone scores the winner.
