I talked myself out of the one-click this morning because Far from Home was my least favorite of the three MCU Spider-Man movies. I already own the Film Arena Lenticular, so I just went downstairs to look and see if it would be worth it to just buy another slip or lenti. I realized right then that front of the Manta Steelbook is nearly identical to the FAC Steel, with the addition of MJ and Happy on the Manta being the main difference. It had been so long since I bought it that I had forgot what it looked like. So I'm going to have to pass on this one.

I have been thinking the same thing, and not only that I am struggling to look past Molten Man slapped over Tower Bridge which is wholly inaccurate. If you’re going to use Tower Bridge, then make it more prominent and inline with the storyline. In fact the more I look at this steel design, the lazier it appears in all honesty ☹️ Quite disappointed with it and sorely tempted to just wait for WeET WEA (I already have about 4 editions of this movie).

  2. @Masterblaster @extantsrevenge Hi Guys,

I suspect I know the answer to this already, but given Manta’s Multiverse of Madness and Wandervison are just 2 weeks apart in their estimated release dates (14th and 28th Sept) are there any chances at all of having Manta ship them combined if we were in for both? Wasn’t sure if this would be a question we could ask them? I would be far more tempted to join this GB if it’s possible.

If you don’t ask you don’t get and all that. 😊

  3. Challenge 26: Women in Film

Fantastic idea for this challenge @Mrdugan 👍🏼

This feels like it could be one of those challenges where we see the same titles over and over. I’ve already seen my obvious choices used more than once within the first few hours.

Also, Films that I would Certainly hail here for Female Directors I have previously owned but on a poor man’s format, and I am still lacking upgrade replacements. Those include The Matrix & Point Break and those two alone would be my top 2.

I could give the nod to Patty Jenkins & Cathy Yan, but again I feel like these will be called out a lot in this challenge. Therefore here is a selection of movies whereby the Leads are either Strong Female performances or actresses IMO, even if the movies weren’t necessarily the best… Cough Dark Phoenix Cough….

Special shout out to Chloe Zhao for Eternals. This movie gets a lot of negativity, most likely because it had to follow off of Infinity War & End Game successes. But I truly understand what Chloe was aiming for in Eternals. This is meant to be more than your standard Superhero movie, and with that in mind and not the MCU predecessors it is in fact a very good movie. I feel like we will see a lot more Greatness come from Chloe in the coming years.

Other Women in Film that I am particularly fond of right now include Danai Jekesai Gurira & Florence Pugh. Also like @extantsrevenge I am really hoping for a follow up for Rosa Salazar in the role of Alita.

Goes without saying that the MCU is presenting a whole plethora of opportunities for leading ladies with Captain Marvel, Miss Marvel, She Hulk, Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) Iron Heart, Black Panther (Shuri), Wasp, Guardians, Eternals…. The list goes on and on.

@Pbsw23 I won’t lie, the last two entries gave me a serious chuckle 😆

I haven’t seen any Star Trek films but if Nils can confirm Klingon is used prominently in that particular movie, then I accept it 😉

Sorry, but Creed II is a no-go, buddy. I watched it recently and the amount of Russian spoken is minimal. I’m sure you can find a more suitable alternative.

Doesn’t fill me with confidence 😄 But ok, so to replace Creed II…

  5. CHALLENGE 25 - "THE MULTILINGUAL PSYCHO"

@R1s1ngs0n Ok, so this is harder for me than it probably should be… I cannot tell a lie, I am still somewhat naive and sheltered when it comes to World Cinema, and it is precisely for this reason I was so keen to join @Reagh movie club. I got into the Premium game predominantly for Marvel (Shock Horror) and then got the bug and began to upgrade my Sci-Fi and Monster Movies. I’ve always liked Anime, but rarely delved into foreign cinema. 🤷🏼‍♂️ All I can say is that I am open minded and ready to be educated.

I’m fairly certain I could “cheat complete” this challenge with Tarantino Movies alone 😁 off the top of my head, English, Japanese, Chinese, German, Hungarian, Spanish…. But anyway, I’ll try my luck with these….. you’re gonna Love this 😄😄😄

Did I do it? Did I pass? 😄

For a Movie I would like to see become a Premium, I will go with the recently suggested Druk (Another Round) by @BreakBeatDJ in our cool little Movie Club. Whilst not something I would watch over and over, I would purchase a beautifully put together Fullslip of this little gem of a movie.

Im struggling with a few of these myself, but I WILL watch them all, even if I am late with it. I am sorely tempted to follow @Reagh and purchase each of these. Already bought a couple of them on the 2nd hand market and it’s a damn sight cheaper doing this than buying premiums! 😄👌🏼

  8. Finished Ajin: Demi Human. Thoroughly enjoyed that. I’d say it lost its edge a little in Season 2, and seemed to be confused by itself at times wether the black ghosts were visible or not 🤷🏼‍♂️ But still gripping all the same. Also didn’t really explain the ending very well, more questions than answers. No idea if there is supposed a season 3 coming or not? Anyway, got my eye on a physical copy of this one now.

Today I am starting Hit Monkey. Watched the pilot and well… it’s bizarre! Violent but comical. I’ll be sticking with it, only 10 episodes. Whilst the UK is plunged back into freezing weather (will it ever end?!) I’m taking the opportunity to plough through my Animated watch list. 👍🏼

    Streets of Rage (Megadrive)

  10. I obviously fell asleep thinking about this, because this morning I have woken up thinking about Command & Conquer! A friend and I used to link two screens and two PS ones in a room with an arch divider, so we could see each other but not the screens and go about War with one another for hours 😂 Before the days of online gaming.

I have now discovered there is a C&C app for the iPad 😄👌🏼Does anyone have any good suggestions for games on the iPad? I used to play Marvel Puzzle Quiz religiously, but gave it up during lockdown.

  12. Just finished Season 2 of Ultraman on Netflix and actually looking forward to Season 3 later this year.

Despite a fair few stolen moments from the likes of Marvel and Tekken, I found this to be highly binge worthy with each 20min episode containing the perfect amount of action and leaving you wanting the next one. It’s visually beautiful during battle scenes and some of the Aliens are great in how they have been imagined. I can def see myself using artwork from this series in a future Lego MOC.

So while I await series 3, I have finally got around to starting Ajin as highly recommended by @LeGonze 😊👍🏼

Did a bit of looking and here are a few examples:

    Terminator 2 - won 4 Oscars.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - won 4 Oscars

    Aliens - won 2 Oscars

    Jaws - won 3 Oscars

Jurassic Park - won 3 Oscars

Star Wars - won 6 Oscars

I think Raiders won 5 if you include special achievement…. Which is…. How do I put it politely….. Befuddling?

Appreciate that majority are struggling this week, but Now Watching The Dam Busters.

    Just finished.

My reason for selecting this movie is that although considered a British classic, it is a somewhat forgotten classic. I also believed that few of you would have seen it. Of course, now I am learning how true that is and why. It’s a real shame it’s such a struggle for you all.

But I digress, this was a favourite of mine as a child. My grandad on my mothers side was in the RAF during WWII and I spent many many hours learning about WWII aircraft with him. Going to old nostalgic rallies or fairs, air shows, watching old movies like this one, and of course collecting and building Airfix kits. My Dads Dad was in the Navy and was quite the opposite. He never wanted to discuss it. Perhaps it won’t have the same appeal to non Brits? I don’t know. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Watching The Dam Busters again tonight though has brought back a lot of memories, and the wonder that I found as a child that this Actually happened. That anyone could be as brave, crazy and calm on such missions. Could you imagine flying something so big and rustic, so loud, so rawkus, and then be told you have to fly so low, AND do it at night and be so precise, and in enemy territory no less. Bonkers.

They clearly only had 3 Lancaster's for filming and I do so wish they would have had 10 as the squadron is claimed, but I think we can forgive for the film makers for this given it’s age. I can’t imagine it would be possible to film 3 altogether with any ease even today. It delivers so much of the in flight scenes without the use of models and actually using the real deal, and that for me makes it all the more special. I also find the ending perfectly on point. No heroic movie moments, just on with the job. Exactly how I imagine it always was and always will be.

This was also a stern reminder of how wildly inappropriate people were back then (racism). The dog serves up a hideously cringeworthy moment and I feel like it adds absolutely nothing to the story what so ever. I had completely erased that from memory until tonight so my apologies if anyone does watch it and takes offence to that. 🙏🏼 Again, it’s a 1955 movie.
