News from Star Wars Celebration 2023
GuyIncognit0 replied to GuyIncognit0's topic in 'Star Wars' Club's Stars Wars News
I doubt we'll see anyone else. John Boyega made his feelings pretty clear (and I don't blame him). Oscar Isaac has just become too big of an actor and I'm not sure he'd want to anyway. I think he mentioned he might come back if he decided he wants another house, ha. None of the major characters were pleased with how it all transpired. I think Daisy is mostly back to try to jump start her career again. It's a shame because the Rey's faults had nothing to do with her - I personally think she's an underrated actress. You know the answer to this, my friend! Chopper supremacy!!! You're definitely not the only one. Recent history makes it difficult to think any other way. I'm just trying to hold out hope that they have positively received the feedback from the sequel trilogy (and some of the D+ shows) and that we'll see some change. I have some faith in Filoni because he just seems to "get" Star Wars. IMO, he's having a problem adapting to live action though. -

Hi all, More news came out as the weekend progressed. I added that info to the original post. It's about Return of the Jedi's return to theaters and also news regarding The Bad Batch, Visions, and Tales of the Jedi. Here is the trailer for Visions Volume 2: -
Hello all, Here is a summary of the big news coming out of Star Wars celebration: Three new live-action Star Wars films are currently in development. James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma, Ford v Ferrari, Logan) has been hired to direct a film centered around the first Jedi. Dawn of the Jedi is described as a biblical epic and will take place during the Old Republic era. Dave Filoni will direct a live-action film which will bring together the events of the "Mandoverse". It will showcase the "escalating war between the Imperial remnant and the New Republic." Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's film will take place 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker and focus on the rebuilding of the Jedi order. Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey. "Andor" Season Two Will Debut August 2024 A trailer was shown to those in attendance but, otherwise, a trailer has not been released to the public. It will be the final season. "Acolyte" will debut sometime in 2024 This "mystery thriller series" takes place near the end of the High Republic Era, about 100 years prior to the events of the prequel trilogy. The director, Leslye Headland originally pitched the series as "Frozen" meets "Kill Bill"from the bad guys' perspective. The plot will center around the emergence of the Sith Samurai films are reportedly a large inspiration "Skeleton Crew", a TV series featuring Jude Law, will release near the end of 2023 Honestly, I'm still having a hard time finding out much about this one It will focus on a group of kids (about 10 years old) lost in the galaxy and finding their way home. It is said to have been inspired by The Goonies. Various directors have been revealed for the series, including Jon Watts, David Lowery, The Daniels duo, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. So far, no new news on the previously announced Rian Johnson and Taika Waititi projects. "The Bad Batch" has been renewed for a third and final season. "Star Wars: Visions" has been renewed for a second season. This is the series that turns over the Star Wars universe to well-known anime studios for a unique twist on the Star Wars franchise It will premiere on May 4th, 2023. A trailer debuted. I will post it in a separate post below. "Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi" has been renewed for a second season. "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi" will return to theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Showings will start April 28th and run for a limited time at select theaters. "Ahsoka" is set to debut August 2023 Those who have yet to see the animated series Star Wars: Rebels might want to watch it prior to the premiere. A trailer was released:

The Bad Batch

Yet another post I missed - sorry. I agree. It seemed like they were getting somewhere with this one a few weeks ago but we're back to the same old stuff. I don't understand how they went from Clone Wars and Rebels to this. Clone Wars admittedly has a lot of filler bur Rebels is comparatively lean and always moving forward. You would think that they figured it out. -
I'd really be interested in some of these - Thrawn especially. I've heard the books about him are very good and I'm hoping to get to them soon. I think we'll be seeing him a bit in the upcoming Ahsoka series. We've received enough backstory from others (like Saw) to keep me satisfied. One the wasn't mentioned in the article is Bo Katan. She's had a good amount of screen time for a secondary character but I want to know what happened on Mandalore during her rule. How did she fail? We hear that she failed because of the curse of obtaining the Dark Saber without fighting for it but what specifically happened to cause that failure. I want to know more about "The night of 1,000 tears". And how did Moff Gideon get a hold of the Dark Saber?

I'm reminded of an old quote...I had to look it up or else I'd butcher it. "What we should try to do is keep politics as local as possible. Keep the politicians near enough to kick them." - G.K. Chesterton Except replace "politics" with "premium retailers". Fitting that they happen to live in the boot-shaped country.

Critic reviews are what I was going off of earlier and you're definitely right in that the general audience review is much more positive. I saw it Friday and was entertained. I'd put it somewhere near the middle (the lower half) of the MCU.

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)

Well, I was booking my park reservation and saw that I am blocked out tomorrow... I won't be in the area again this week so we'll have to wait for that one 😢. Here's some other stuff: Challenge #22: Adaptation The Princess Bride and Winnie the Pooh are probably my favorites here. This edition of Princes Bride is beautifully bound and has quite a few well done illustrations that make for a nice touch. Winnie the Pooh always caters to my sentimental side. Interestingly, Disney made some good choices with their adaptation that work quite well in the transition from print to the screen. I don't usually find that to be the case. I'm sure several people could complete this challenge using Disney alone. Thanks for the challenge, @Reagh

Not sure if any of you consider reviews spoilers (not specifics but a general consensus on if a film is good or bad) but (re: Ant-man)...

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)

Interesting that you brought this up as I was thinking about this recently. I was looking at my WeET Spider-man 2 FS that has the holofoil Doc Oc tentacle wrapping onto the spine from the back panel and wondering if the holofoil will develop a crack or crease over time. To be honest, it's the kind of thing that makes me hesitate about purchasing any more premiums. This is such an expensive hobby and it makes me cringe to think part of this collection (and the value) essentially disintegrate over a relatively short period of time. I've been tempted to just collect amarays as a result. Yeah, that plastic case might degrade but it's easily replaceable like you said. All would. be fine so long as the disc itself doesn't suffer.
