I REALLY don't like them. It's mostly the front panels. They look like a fan's high school photoshop project. I also generally don't like a continuing image across steels because I'll never display them that way. There's at least a chance for me to do that with the HDZ slips. The backs of the steels are okay even if they are a little low res but I expect that from a screenshot image. These films just deserve so much better 😢

I agree. They did a much better job than any MCU film, imo. It has humor, heart, action, really just a little bit of everything. I keep going back and forth as to whether EEAAO or Marcel is my favorite A24 film from the past year. They are very different films so it's hard to compare, ha.

Even though the front art is a bit overused I greatly prefer it to the recent WWAs. Those were a huge disappointment imo. I plan on getting these and throwing them into the HDZ set.

I've put Mulholland Dr in my cart for the last two criterion sales but eventually took it out both times. I think what happens is that I watch the trailer and it just seems a little trippy for me. You are another in a decent sized list who has recommended it though. I think I just need to dive in. Eraserhead sounds like something I could be interested in based on your description. Thanks for the recs! I'll probably seek out more in the coming months... Anyway, I definitely of intend to branch out in the coming year. I need to start making a list of directors and films. Perhaps I'll start a thread about this pursuit 🧐. There are several directors I would like to explore - Wong Kar Wai is another that I left off of the list in the previous post.

Great idea, @bossjon. As I was picking out films for this challenge I realized that I need to branch out a bit. I don't have anything from Paul Thomas Anderson, Wes Anderson, any anime, very limited Kubrick, Lynch, etc. Perhaps that can be a goal for next year. Anyway, as a result, I'll be sticking to some big names for this challenge. Challenge #12 1. Steven Spielberg: Easily my favorite director and he has been capturing my imagination since I was a kid. Anything he does is a must-see for me. Jurassic Park remains my favorite of his. 2. Denis Villeneuve: I love the way he tells a story but also how he directs the camera. All of his films have stunning visuals and a sense of "grandness". Dune is probably my favorite of his (though this may be recency bias). 3. John Hughes: Has anyone better captured the teenage experience? He also does such an excellent job of mixing comedy with poignant moments. It's hard for me to pick a favorite of his but I'll go with Uncle Buck for now.

Well, that was a fun half. Canada was in control early but Croatia has been pushing hard ever since. This is a great watch even though my exact score prediction is already wrong 🤣

I wish I could do the same with my diet 😕. It's a doctor-ordered diet but not for weight reasons. I was really good with it until the past few weeks with the kids' birthdays, closing on a property, the hurricane, and my wife and daughter catching the flu. I need to get back on track. You better believe I ate just about everything on the "no" list yesterday though 😁 The trains are a bunch of fun! My dad started picking them up when I was a kid and the collection has grown a bit over the years. I'm hoping to catch a few light displays this year but this is the time of year where I wish I was still in CO or the northeast so that it can feel a little bit more like the season, ha.

I missed this tag somehow. My jealousy continues... No alligator wrestling this AM. They haven't been around much since the great battle of the garage a few months ago. Things were said, feelings were hurt, and I whooped their butts 😁. It's a good thing too because I am too weak right now due to preparation for today's feast(s). I'd kill for that guy's mobility.
