The Bad Batch
GuyIncognit0 replied to GuyIncognit0's topic in 'Star Wars' Club's Stars Wars Discussion
I'll drink to that. This Vice Admiral Rampart/Kamino storyline has made things a little more interesting. It actually seems like the series is moving forward and not just following the Batch around on random missions. -
Great pickup! I still have yet to see any of those films despite a fondness for Brendan Frasier. Hopefully your insurance situation gets sorted soon!

I'm pretty sure indecision is behind 80% of my one clicks! The rest are for some of my favorites - like Spiderverse. I can't wait for the sequel this summer...

The Bad Batch
GuyIncognit0 replied to GuyIncognit0's topic in 'Star Wars' Club's Stars Wars Discussion
So far this season is okay...a bit of a mix of meh and good. I caught up on the last two episodes last night and they are definitely two of the better ones. Am I the only one still watching? -
Nice pickups! The WeET Into the Spiderverse release is one of my favorites - especially the full slips.

Challenge 21: Love is in the Air Wow - this challenge was harder than I initially thought. I don't have many editions with just the two on the front but here goes... 1: Cinderella - KimchiDVD 2: La La Land - UK steel 3: Wall-e - Blufans 4: It's a Wonderful Life - Best Buy 5: Beauty and the Beast - Blufans I'm not a huge fan of romantic films but I did really enjoy La La Land. That one really surprised me because I also don't historically care for musicals either. But now I have three separate editions of the film on my shelf, ha. That being said, I think Wall-e is my favorite. His love is so innocent, pure, and...unexpected. The little guy even has a bit of a romance with life in general. It's just such a beautiful film all around and truly deserving of its recent Criterion release. Thanks for the challenge, @Blu Magic Ray!!

This one was always one of my favorites. You know Larson "came back" for a brief period a couple of years ago. He was experimenting with digital art and would put out a new panel every now and then. Unfortunately, I just checked his site again and it looks like he hasn't done it in a while. It was fun to see though - just as it was when Bill Watterson made a surprise reappearance in the Pearls Before Swine strip a little ways back -
Did you have to pick it up at the store? It looks like Best Buy is having some trouble getting these out. I don't think we'll get a premium...at least not anytime soon 😢
-
Recent pickups... Not pictured: The Batman Begins replacement steel from Blufans. Thank you @DodgyDavefor facilitating! It's truly a great service when things don't quite show up as they should. Dave and @LeGonze are the two I've worked with most recently but thank you to all of you who help in these instances and also to those who get these into our hands to begin with!

Media Psychos WeET Collection Award
GuyIncognit0 replied to extantsrevenge's topic in Retailer Collection Awards
I finally had an opportunity to lay out my WeET editions (a nexus of available time and my office being clean enough 😅) to apply for the WeET Treasure Hunter award. @extantsrevenge for your consideration...- 297 replies

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)
GuyIncognit0 replied to Masterblaster's topic in English
Morning all. I've been traveling a bunch lately and haven't had much time to check in. Hope you all are well. Also, I was in NYC and was able to check out The Way of Water at that huge IMAX theater while I was there. As a final reminder, I HIGHLY recommend you see it on the largest screen and in the best format possible. It will NOT play the same at home. This might be your last chance before Quantumania comes out! -
Alright, here we go for challenge 19: 1920s: The Gold Rush - because I can 😅 1930s: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - The one that started a huge empire... 1940s: It's a Wonderful Life - A Christmas tradition and one of my favorite films 1950s: Rear Window - my introduction to Hitchcock and thrillers in general 1960s: To Kill a Mockingbird - I remember watching this in school and it was probably the first film that really impacted me re: the real world. 1970s: Star Wars - the beginning of an obsession and the thing that my sister and I most have in common. 1980s: E.T. - my introduction to Spielberg. I watched this over and over as a kid. 1990s: Tommy Boy - another one of my favorites growing up. It's a comfort film at this point. I just wish Chris Farley was still around 😢 2000s: Mean Girls - I quote this film at least weekly. 2010s: La La Land - probably the first musical I actually enjoyed 2020s: Marcel the Shell with Shoes On - my biggest surprise of the decade so far. I thought it would be okay but I fell in love with it. It is really hard for me to choose a favorite decade between the 70s, 80s, and 90s but if I'm forced to choose I would probably pick the 80s. So many classic films that defined my childhood came out during this time and I just have such happy memories enjoying them with friends and family. I've been collecting movies on and off since the early 2000s. Unfortunately I sold off most if not all of my collection several times only to restart again. This current collection probably started around 2009 and I have been going strong since then.

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)

Well, I had two medical procedures (nothing serious) within the past week. I'm definitely ready to move on to the weekend, lmao. I hope you all have a great weekend! Perhaps it's a good one to venture out and try something new? -
Every now and then I get one right 😉 By the way, just watched This is 40 last night and I strongly preferred that to Superbad.

The Bad Batch
GuyIncognit0 replied to GuyIncognit0's topic in 'Star Wars' Club's Stars Wars Discussion
I'll probably finish up my Season 1 rewatch today. I'm glad I revisited because there was a bunch of stuff that I completely forgot about. The Hera/Twi'lek storyline is probably the best of the season. What is with these recent Star Wars series saving their best writing for the episodes that barely include the titular character? And when are we going to get a decent look at the Pykes? They almost have a Boba Fett-like mystery about them in that they seem to be universally feared/respected. When are we going to actually SEE why? That brutality we saw from the Empire in Andor, give me some of that with the Pykes. Anyway...I'm getting excited to finally move on to Season 2. -
Black Adam (Manta Lab Exclusive #56) (WEA 4K Steelbook) [Hong Kong]

The title. They have several other films on their previous schedules that I’ve been looking forward to -

Oy - not really what I wanted to see upon waking. But, I’m glad it brings joy to some of you 👍 -
Spiderverse is one of my favorite films. I initially wasn't interested in it at all but I have a subscription to the local theater and decided to give it a shot one night and I was blown away. It's a really hard act to follow in my opinion. As for the formal MCU, I'm so far behind on shows that I don't have any real expectations in terms of moving the phase forward. I think I'll like Ant-man because I don't walk in with high expectations for that franchise. I agree re: Majors ; he's one of my favorite actors right now.

"Foodie Films" is the technical term. They are also often found under the category of "Chewing Viewings" and, more colloquially, "Twix Flicks". The adventure is just beginning my friend...
-
Chef is great. I meant both, really. They're all good to me.
-
I might move it to near the top of my list because I could really go for something like this. The foodie films are always so relaxing for me. The Hundred-Foot Journey is usually watched at least once a year in this house.

I forgot about Ad Astra. I came VERY close to walking out of that one. I honestly blame the marketing though. It was marketed as a completely different film.
