    Movie News

Ooooh, looking forward to this! I just finished reading an advance copy of a book about Siskel & Ebert called Opposable Thumbs and couldn’t help but wonder when/if we might ever get a movie about them. Maybe they’ll have a cameo if Tarantino’s flick is about Kael. Should be fun!
  2. I will be monumentally disappointed if we don’t get a Titan spinoff with Shaw and Seven, or at least a Captain Seven series. I need more time in the TNG era!
  3. OK, I'm sold. 12 Monkeys: The Complete Series is in my Amazon cart for the next time I have some spare cash burning a hole in my pocket. Very convincing arguments, @CryoSteel! Is it Thursday yet, @hansreinhardt?
  4. Thanks, @R1s1ngs0n, for this weeks challenge! Sadly, my non-English collection is very small, but here’s what I was able to pull together. 1. Ringu (Japanese) 2. Trilogia de Guillermo del Toro (Spanish) 3. Benedetta (French) 4. Apocalypto (Mayan) 5. Midsommar (Swedish) As far as what foreign title I’d love to see get a premium… I have to confess, I’m pretty ignorant on this front and foreign-language films are a very large weak spot in my collection and knowledge. I am not well-versed in non-English releases, and really don’t have any idea what’s been released and what hasn’t. This week’s challenge should make for a nice education for me, and I look forward to following everyone’s picks with interest!
  5. And the Academy Award goes to… These five motion pictures that are personal favorites of mine and overshadow any cares at all about whether or not they should have won (cough:Gladiator:cough). One film that was nominated for Best Picture and, as far as I’m concerned, should have won was L.A. Confidential. Unfortunately, it lost in favor of popular appeal and box office power in 1997 to James Cameron’s Titanic. Shame, shame, shame.
  6. I gotta say, Shaw is becoming a real favorite for me and has been an excellent surprise this season. Todd Stashwick has done a fantastic job in the role and makes me want to check out the TV series for 12 Monkeys (a favorite movie of mine, but not one I was convinced they could have turned into a TV show, let alone for four years...). I'm really curious to see what he does over there, though, given that Terry Matalas, showrunner for this season of Picard, ran that show as well.
  7. Looks like an actual street date has finally bet set for May 16. Apparently Walmart was overly ambitious with their original delivery date of March 2. 🤣🤣🤣
  8. That LIGHTHOUSE though (Hopefully now that you got this, A24 will announce their 4K limited edition soon! 🤣🤣🤣 )
  9. Kudos to FNAC for not only still having this in stock, but for shipping from France to the US via DHL and getting it to me faster than most of my Amazon Prime deliveries these days!
  10. It’s so good to have the TNG crew back on screen and in action. I didn’t realize until watching it this morning just how much I’d missed Worf. He got some really great lines this episode! 😂
  11. So, I caved a couple weeks ago and sprung for the ad-supported tier of Paramount+. The hype got to me and I couldn’t wait for disc to watch the new season of Picard after all. This was good choice, I think! Episode 3 was fantastic, bringing in a whole lot of emotions and some great plot developments about this season’s threat. I still want the discs ASAP, though! I’m already feeling like I’m gonna need to binge this again once it all wraps up! 😂
  12. The show really found its footing once they launched into the future and could tread new ground. I’m bummed they’re getting cut. From the article, they’re doing some extra filming to give the show some closure, but yeah… seems like they certainly weren’t planning on this being the end. I’m just hoping they can get a decent send-off, but we certainly won’t get something akin to “All Good Things…” that’s for sure.
  13. "The most fun you can have watching nazis get destroyed." - FilmSchoolRejects Goddamn, I am so f**king in for this one!
  14. Naturally, A2 is the one I went with. I’m willing to change over to the B lenti if I don’t make the cut (and if Type B is still available, of course). I’ll keep my expectations in check.
  15. Wow, that sure is a pretty set. Just filled out the form... let's see if I can get lucky. I'm thinking the last slot was taken about an hour ago. 🤣
  16. It's a great looking steel! I'm digging this artwork very, very much and even like the slip for it. It's been a loooong while since I bothered to rewatch this one, but this edition is getting a spot on my shelf regardless. And, as you pointed out, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Yeah. There's at least one good reason to revisit this.
