The Batman (Manta Lab Exclusive #CP000) (WEA Steelbook) [Hong Kong]
MikeH5856 replied to ShadowWarrior's topic in Manta Lab
Agreed. It would be great to know what their future plans are for this line. And if it means we don't have to wait as long for stuff like the Nolan flicks and whatever else they're doing, that would be terrific. Looks like their print run for The Batman was keeping in line with Leon, but not as many as The Matrix Reloaded. 600 one-clicks, and 1000 each for the slips. All sold out now, so they know the interest is there. I guess we'll find out what comes next fairly soon. -

Plus, @Daftvader, we can console ourselves knowing that we've supported Manta Lab and showed them our interest in these cheaper, discless releases, letting them know with our wallets that we support this and want more titles in this line! -

Yeah, so... I cracked. It's payday and, well... Collectong had it in stock and on sale and... yeah. So. I guess I'm getting a fifth freaking copy of The Batman after all. I am weak. So, so weak. 🤣 -
Thanks, @hal56, for this week’s challenge. Here’s what I was able to round up, perhaps with a liberal interpretation of the guideline set forth, and a couple extra for fun. 😁 1. Star Trek V — Worst Film (1989) (and William Shatner for Worst Actor) 2. Hudson Hawk — Worst Film (1991) 3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen — Worst Film (2009) 4. Kevin Costner — Worst Actor, Robin Hood (1991) 5. Sylvester Stallone — Worst Actor, Rocky IV (1985) 6. Sofia Coppola — Worst Supporting Actress, The Godfather Part III (1990) 7. Con Air — 1997 (Worst Reckless Disregard for Human Life and Public Property) As far as the most unfair winner of the Worst Picture Award, I’m giving to the ‘berry to the Razzie’s pick of Hudson Hawk. Granted, I picked up the blu-ray purely out of nostalgia’s sake and have not yet rewatched it, possibly out of concern that my memories of this picture won’t hold water so many years later. But thinking back to my 11-year-old self’s enjoyment of this movie, there’s no way it was Worst Picture of the year. Nostalgia tells me that it’s criticisms were overblown, much in the same way as Waterworld. I remember really enjoying its goofy slapstick approach to action, on top of the ancient society/conspiracy theory stuff. It’s entirely possible I would agree with yesterday’s critics today, so take this with a grain of salt from a Die Hard fanatic who thought Bruce could do no wrong back in 1991!

This and That (Where Great Conversations Are Happening)

Good luck, man! I'm held up for my second day with a bum knee. I've been doing a ton more walking of late but apparently overworked myself and my knee is reminding me, once again, that I'm in the throes of middle age and not in my 20s anymore (and am paying for too many years of being sedentary, most likely). Meanwhile, I'm getting antsy to get my walking shoes back on and get outside! -
Agreed! It's been a while since I've seen a Wes Anderson flick, but this one looks pretty dang great, IMO. That cast is pure 🔥🔥🔥
-
Fingers crossed we get a good steel for this one!

Awesome! Glad to see her making her return after being MIA for so-long. I'm loving that the new Captain America flick is becoming a sequel to The Incredible Hulk! 🤣

Thank you for this week’s challenge, @Veum! Off the top of my head, here’s some vigilante/revenge flicks that I greatly enjoy. 😁 1. The Batman — arguably one of the most iconic vigilantes out there, and my personal favorite. Even more so than this other icon… 2. Dirty Harry. ‘Nuff said. 3. The Revenant gives us a historical twist to the revenge thriller after Leonardo DiCaprio’s fur trapper character is betrayed and left for dead by Tom Hardy, who plays one hell of a bastard in this one. 4. John Wick! A retired assassin is forced back into business after his two most personal belongings in honor of his deceased wife — his car and his dog — are lost. The car is stolen and the dog is murdered by Russian gangsters who have no freaking idea who they’ve just messed with. 5. Kill Bills parts 1 and 2. The Bride takes her revenge upon a group of assassin’s who tried to kill her. So much graphic violence goodness from the master, Quentin Tarantino! Seems I have a soft spot for the revenge flick! I freaking love the Kill Bill movies and am hoping Lionsgate does a 4K steel with PET slip soon. I desperately need to upgrade these old Blu-ray editions. I picked these movies because these are all ones I can watch repeatedly and not get bored with!

We haven't seen the reversible sleeve yet! Don't lose hope!
-
I hope so! I'm really interested in checking that out.

Looks like they're doing an exclusive Blu-ray + DVD steelbook, too. Hopefully a 4K edition gets unveiled soon. Be nice, too, if the steelbook fits easily inside this box, which I'm keeping my fingers crossed for. 🤣. Amazon's got something going on too, but no details yet what their Exclusive is going to be.
